  1. You'd think this team was in 3rd place sometimes and playing .500 ball sometimes.
  2. Bullpen games are the reality of a 28-man roster.
  3. When he's drawing walks, he's also hitting.
  4. I wonder how the first game jitters feel when there is nobody in the stands. I imagine it's easier than a full stadium. Maybe not, but definitely different. Glad to see what he can do, though under unfortunate circumstances.
  5. Yup. This is a good sign, but we'll see how he does when nobody throws him a hittable first pitch. As others said, it's a game of adjustments. He made an adjustment to start going after the first pitch, opponents will make the next move.
  6. It's just so silly. Some people actually spend their time commenting on a message board about a sports logo. Suggesting a subtle change that nobody thinks is offensive. These people need a hobby.
  7. The charm of Minnie and Paul is, honestly, that it's a dated art style. So I suppose it's due for a tweak. Big meh. It's like their 3rd logo anyway. Changing Minnie and Paul is about as controversial as Geico adding another spokesman.
  8. I don't read much into this. A player they think is useful was available. Maybe he'll hold a backup utility position, maybe not. Probably the next Ronald Torres, so to speak.
  9. "Before you hit me with “It’s only been ten games,” just remember that is nearly 20% of the season. There isn't really such thing as a small sample size in this strange season." That's not how statistics work.
  10. Sorry, but Dobnak only had 1K and doesn't throw 99mph. Clearly he's not MLB material. \sarcasm
  11. That reminds me: how is Ryne Harper doing this year?
  12. Actually.... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/08/braves-designate-jhoulys-chacin-select-chris-rusins-contract.html
  13. Even with a 30-man roster this is the approach (as shown by putting both Bailey and Littel on the IL for "minor" injuries). Sigh. Modern baseball: where 15 pitchers still isn't enough.
  14. "the Twins also received a gem on Saturday from No. 18 in their rotation." This team really has pitching depth if they have 17 pitchers ahead of Maeda.
  15. I don't think Eddie is controversial at all. He's just one of the more obvious trade candidates and we, as fans, want to obsess about what-if scenarios and pretend GM scenarios. He's an above average player who hits in the middle of the lineup. We're lucky to have him. Sometimes his weakness is his aggression. Sometimes it's his stength. Hopefully he'll find a way to balance the two as he matures as a hitter, because it will definitely impact his career longevity once he's on the other side of 30.
  16. If they aren't doing a thorough cleaning of the facilities between team visits they aren't doing their job in the first place. Hope everyone who tested positive has a full recovery.
  17. So far it looks like they took last year's team and made it better. Excited.
  18. Counterpoint: Cruz has an outstanding season but, with reduced travel, writers on the Coasts forget the Midwest exists.
  19. 6. They definitely didn't go back to classic baseballs. If anything, 2020 is using more of a gopher ball.
  20. I don't think they changed the baseball.
  21. I'd ask who Whitefield is, but I bet a separate bio post is coming thanks to the many great contributors here. Still gotta get used to this phrase.
  22. I love that the biggest debate is about last year's #9 hitter.
  23. Rosario's energy is really important to this team. I was going to question Cruz at #5 because he didn't play a single inning of defense last year. But with the 2020 DH rules, that's a huge boost. One of my favorite thing about this team is that it's so even. There's not one obvious star.
  24. Hopefully shoring up the infield defense with Donaldson helps too.
