  1. Hey, I’m way on board with your Marni suggestion. Without hearing the other auditions, she’d be my first choice. I’d like to see suggestions from people that do not include any current pbp announcers.
  2. Oh great … EAR WORM!
  3. Yeah, and subject the rest of us to a 'Hawk Harrelson' equivalent. no thanks! :)
  4. That actually says nothing. Why don’t you try an actual rebuttal using a little bit of fact and data? If you don’t like him, then bring something legitimate to the discussion. And all great people had great teachers, so let’s not be putting down teachers which is what your post did.
  5. I’m pretty much putting tiger balm everywhere. It’s the cologne of the arthritic elderly
  6. I had heard that when he was done playing baseball he was thinking he’d go to med school. Guess he didn’t do that, but yeah. One smart guy.
  7. Winner might be a matter of perspective 🙂
  8. More yikes, and big yuck for such depravity … Dustin Mohr arrested on multiple counts of child sex crimes
  9. He said those things AFTER he announced his retirement. He kept quiet so long as he was employed. He made the decision to retire, announced it, then took the moment to say it like it is.
  10. In a thread about trading high, these three would not be in that category
  11. He was also the pitcher when Mauer finished his career. And I think Belisle came out of the game just after Mauer and that was his end, too.
  12. Congratulations and best wishes in the next life … And good for you …
  13. Please comment in this thread:
  14. I wonder, considering how some of these longer pitcher deals have worked, if others might be leery of going longer than three yrs with Gray. I mean, it might be 50-50 that we are able to work out a deal with him for the 2-3 yrs you mentioned. But pitching always goes higher because it's pitching.
  15. Or ... 'Have loved it here and would love to return, but, this is my shot, and for me and my family I need to take the best offer, regardless who makes it.' I mean, people think there is no truth behind what he says? That he hates it here and can't wait to leave, but is saying otherwise? He's being diplomatic but he could also be genuine at the same time. All he's saying, really, is, he liked it here, is open to staying, but will seek the best deal. And no one faults him for that, especially the Twins org. And of course there's more to it than money, but, money will be a huge factor. He's pitched well enough to get a really good offer, and he knows it. We know it, the Twins know it, and it's not likely we will win, and everyone knows it.
  16. I might do 2-3 yrs (I said might) for Gray. More than that? I'd be leery. I think he's a good mentor and would like to see him be solidify the starting staff. People like to over-dramatize things. I don't think Sonny ever had an issue with Rocco specifically ... he's just really competitive and always wants the ball and I think that's all that was, imo. But folks here and elsewhere need their conspiracies. I think how he was handled in MN helped him to be successful and I think he knows and appreciates that. But ... who knows. Players are always going to speak positively, or at worst, neutrally, about teams they've been with when seeking a new deal. Whatever happens, in a Twins uni or another, I wish him well ... unless he's with another team in the AL central. 😉
  17. Lol, I just read the last choice. Missed it the first time through
  18. Who's beaming? It's not beaming to try and find something good out of something bad. It's called coping. I'm not happy we lost. I'm disappointed. It's a big let down. I felt, and still do, that the team had potential. But I also think there are good things to find in the season and I hope the team can build from that. I’m hopeful for the future. Any and all opinions are welcome here ... but so is rebuttal. As long as both sides stick to civility, and shy away from posting hyperbole as truth, we can have fair discussions in disagreement.
  19. I predicted around .500 but always said they had potential. I didn’t know where they’d finish in the division, and not sure I gave a prediction of that, but, again, thought they had potential. 🙂 It’s always disappointing when the season ends with losing, but we didn’t lose everything. There were highs and lows to the season, but over all, I’m satisfied they showed their potential, but disappointed it didn’t show more. Hows that for playing the middle?
  20. We already have a list of posters who will be voted off the island if they persist tonight as they did last night. It’s not a long list, very short in fact, but there is a huge difference in being disappointed or being critical than outright negativity.
  21. Now posted in today's game thread:
  22. Exciting day!!! Make noise Twins fans! and GO TWINS!!!
  23. Liriano was traded to the White Sox for Escobar, not the Blue Jays. Just a little nit in your lineage there. Still ends the same way, though. 🙂
