  1. As has been said, ad nauseum at this point, he’s not getting any offers not because of a settled lawsuit, but because of him. He is a bad teammate and a clubhouse cancer and he puts the ‘I’ in team. This has been discussed already in other threads, you are now beating a dead horse. He hasn’t received an offer from one MLB team and is now ‘auditioning’ for teams in Asia. And as before, you are welcome to discuss Trevor Bauer the pitcher and teammate, but we are not going down the rabbit hole discussing his very public personal life and all that has wrought, despite the outcomes.
  2. Afternoon intra-squad games. Saw Raya pitch the other day. He’s good. Saw others. Don’t remember who all. Jenkins.
  3. Oh yeah. There will be fits and starts. No doubt. Isn’t there with just about any proposed stadium? I live in the area and the impact will be the same whether it’s the current stadium or a new one. But I’d better not be paying g for it. 🙂
  4. Most home games the lineup is pretty much starters with the occasional other thrown in. Away games is very different. Of course they substitute players in the 4th or 5th inning, but as players get sent to MiL camp, and the deeper into ST we get, the starters will begin going deeper into games. The game I went to it was Santana, Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Kepler, Castro, Vazquez, Martin, Wallner.
  5. The Arlington Heights thing wasn’t an attention grab. They actually bought the old racetrack and started to demo the buildings on it, then they got the news that their yearly property tax bill was going to be way, way, way more than they expected. It went through an appeals process and they lost. So, back to downtown. IF they are truly going to privately fund the stadium and plan for the public outdoor space they claim, I wouldn’t be opposed. As for the proposed Sox Park, by the time that would get built (not gonna happen, though), that area will be built up. They’ve already put some of the infrastructure in place there for development. However, Reinsdorf wants the city and state to fund it with tax dollars. That will never happen. And I put the Sox dead last in what the city cares about … but I don’t put the Cubs 2nd, either … Bears, Bulls, Cubs/Hawks, Sky, Fire, Sox. Most Sox fans I know, upon hearing Reinsdorf wants taxes to fund his stadium, said, ‘Buh bye. Enjoy Nashville.’ But, back to football, Chicago is a Bears town, through and through, even with how pathetic they are, and 2nd place isn’t even close. That stadium will eventually get done. But by the time it gets built, I’m hoping to be retired and back to MN. Their current contract at Soldier Field is through 2032. So, in time for the 33-34 season. Yep, I’ll be gone. And both clubs still owe money on their current digs. I wouldn’t agree to anything u til they make good on those bonds.
  6. She played Soldier Field last summer. Three nights. Sold out the hotels in the city. Summer events are no problem. But they miss out on a lot of other things.
  7. Domed stadium so they can make more money and perhaps get a Super Bowl or other kinds of big money sports events
  8. Varland will start in AAA, unless DeSclafani isn’t ready by the time they need a 5th pitcher.
  9. Didn’t the article say Dobnak would be in the starting rotation for St. Paul?
  10. I like that they would privately fund $2billion, and that the plan will include public spaces, but we’ll see. No specific plans or renderings so far. They had bought land out in the burbs, but then found out that they were going to get hit with a huge property tax bill and are now back to downtown. “The Chicago Bears are proud to contribute over $2 billion to build a stadium and improve open spaces for all families, fans and the general public,” Bears President and CEO Kevin Warren said in a statement. https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/reports-bears-to-contribute-2-billion-for-domed-lakefront-stadium-to-replace-soldier-field/?fbclid=IwAR2ZFxekBaad6fqQY2lMXXwirHtwj1_RQsdFLWXeOtbEjdHxL4GEQbtLpSk_aem_AX2zWw6KBwWdR70DrbMXxpylC73i3RB4g0vH2-WeywWR8lkOiOR0-CnaGiRqIElj7Bw
  11. Farmer played in 120 games last year. That’s quite a lot. I don’t have the breakdown of what positions he played, but he played all over the infield, as a backup/utility player should do. Brooks Lee is not a backup/utility IF nor should he be relegated to that role. EDIT: He was pretty evenly divided playing 2B, 3B and SS. Then a small handful of games at 1B and OF. He even DH’d once or twice. And I don’t know the breakdown of games he started vs games he came into during. That is not a role that Brooks Lee should fill. That is the role of a backup/utility player
  12. It’s why I’m waiting to see where he gets reps in AAA. There are others ahead of him, already on the 40-man, who need the reps there.
  13. There were lots of questions on where Arraez would play … that personnel decision worked itself out in trade. Would the Twins trade either Brooks or Royce? I hope not. I don’t think anything can be discerned by this year’s ST, but it will be interesting to see how/where they play Brooks in St. Paul.
  14. That single was questionable. Hit back to Ober and he couldn’t quite handle it and it rolled toward the first base line. then he tried to pick it up with his glove and he couldn’t get it. That was followed by the home run. First two batters of the game. Only two hits from the Yanks today.
  15. Starters still in the game in the 5th even though the top of the lineup has been through three times
  16. He started at 2nd today and Castro in left, then the two of them switched positions
  17. Bux cleared the bases. Sitting in a sea of Yanks fans. Always good when one of the good guys comes through
  18. Probably because there are too many others needing their time there. I don’t think Brooks should take time away from Martin there, for instance. Martin will likely get the call up before Lee. And do we know what work he’s doing on the backfields? In drills? I don’t think he will be a left side of the infield only guy. His path up is at 2nd, imo
  19. I read somewhere that the Twins will have him play 2nd, 3rd and SS in AAA
  20. Btw, parking is now $15
  21. Saw and chatted briefly with Al Newman!
  22. Julien was hit in the wrist yesterday. Just bruised but will probably sit a couple of days.
  23. Nice article on Lee in the STrib today. Sorry, don’t have the link. Basically said he’ll do well but will be in AAA
  24. I’m not sure where to put this, nor did I search out and read the article on The Athletic, but this is something I think we all knew. All to gain an advantage.
