  1. He did clear waivers, yesterday, and was assigned to Rochester, so that 40-Man spot did go to LaMarre.
  2. Out of curiosity, who’s your provider? I got the redirect one that was happening earlier in the week, but I haven’t had one like that in over a year or so. Would the provider even have anything to do with it?
  3. Please keep this discussion directed on Sano, MLB’s decision and moving forward. If you want to have a broader discussion regarding race, culture, sexual assault and harassment, please do so in the Sports Bar. I think there are several threads still active on these issues. But please keep this thread as it specifically relates to Sano and the upcoming season. Like it or not, the MLB decision has been made. There is no reason to castigate anyone on any side of this. If you can’t do so, please refrain from posting or find a more suitable forum to have these discussions. That includes putting any shade on either Betsy or Sano.
  4. Very well stated. And, officially, as a moderator, I hope others will follow suit.
  5. Yeah, that I get, but why a day off BETWEEN the two games with Pittsburgh and why a day off in the middle of the series with Mariners?
  6. If he pitches really well this year, probably not. If he doesn’t, well, yeah maybe. In other words, if he’s pissed now, he may not be next year.
  7. You can follow and make comments about Rooker’s progress this year in the Adopt-a-Prospect forum. Here is the link to his thread: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28840-brent-rooker-2018/ And it’s not too late if any of you want to jump in!
  8. Oh for sure. As I’ve said several times now, I’m not absolving him of responsibility at all, he should have known better; just looking at the larger issue.
  9. I never said he shouldn’t pay the consequences. Never once. All I’m saying is that if you want to address the issue over all you have to go beyond a MLB rule. Period. Kids, young kids, are lured into this as a way of life early on to the point it’s part of the culture and a means of escape. They are prey to teams and agents. I’m not excusing Polanco or anyone else who gets caught by suggesting that there is more to it that needs more understanding than those who want it to be a black and white issue. It’s not. But I’m not excusing Polanco, as I think I’ve already stated that one way or the other, he should have known better. But since this conversation has morphed beyond just Polanco but PED usage, this ‘Its a rule and that’s the end of it’ stance from a couple of posters I think is fool-hardy and solves nothing.
  10. My point is I’m talking about poverty and what one does to escape it, in a country where there is no way out. Yes, he broke the rules and needs to pay the consequences for that. I’m not disagreeing. But if we really want to solve the issue of PED use, especially among Dominicans, I think we need to look at more than just a MLB rule. There are many who prey on these kids and I have no idea how strong or easy the lure is to go down that road as I have never experienced that level of poverty. It just seems to me that if it’s (still) an issue, we aren’t looking at the right things in order to truly address it.
  11. I made this point pages back. It’s legal in the DR and almost encouraged and I’d bet agents are involved in this as well. Enticing and luring, actually preying on the impoverished. Why I don’t believe it’s a race issue when a very high percentage of those caught are from the DR. That is not coincidental to me.
  12. This makes sense. Why I wondered several pages ago when they found out. And I think it has affected Polanco on the field, too. The number of errors is so high I wonder if some of that could be attributed to things on his mind.
  13. Moderator warning: Back to topic. This is about Polanco. If any wants to discuss any larger or related issues at play, start a thread. But don't side track and derail this one with intentional statements to inflame.
  14. It's actually more of an issue with poverty and taking advantage of it, imo.
  15. Dominicans. It's not even close in being spread throughout Latin American players ... it's Dominicans who are being busted. In the DR steroids are legal and all one has to do is walk into any pharmacy for them. They are common place. I'm not saying that Polanco knew exactly what he was taking ... if he didn't, he should have known better; if he did, he should have known better. But until you casually throw out the race card ... and I'm not saying it's not racist ... but I'm saying you need to look further at exactly who is getting busted for this ... beyond just 'Latin American players' because it's predominately Dominicans.
  16. Yeah ... when do they get the results? Have they known this for several days or a couple weeks already? And just now announce it? Is that why Aybar is still here?
  17. Question - how soon does the team find out about these things? I'm just wondering, given Polanco's play so far in ST, if maybe his mind was on other things, and this was it?
  18. We have no depth at 3B ... imo. So if Sano is suspended ... not sure. Guess Esco starts there. While there is, well, depth at SS ... it's not quite ML ready. I think they'll roll with Adrianza as the starting SS and Esco will see plenty of reps there. And either Aybar or Gordon makes the team as utility. Ack. I guess we'll find out.
  19. Defensively, isn't Adrianza supposed to be, uh, good? I'd guess he would be the main replacement at SS with Esco jumping in? That said, Polanco has been having a rough spring, lots of errors so far. Maybe this time off gives him time to get it together. I've never been that high on him as a full-time SS but where do you go from here at this point?
  20. Not only that ... yet again ... it's someone from the DR. I'm not saying that in any kind of negative way, it's just a higher percentage of athletes from the DR that are the ones testing positive. If he needs a B12 and iron supplement, perhaps get it directly from the Twins.
  21. I think the writing was on the wall for some time, but especially after the Morrison signing. I always feel bad for these guys at this point because it's a long fought-for dream and I hope for Vargas it's not over yet. The one thing that makes this an 'awwww' moment for me is that he will miss out playing with the Twins when they are in PR. But, that's the reality of baseball ...
