  1. These two games against the BoSox ... playoff baseball ... that's what that was.
  2. Yep, force the other team to make a perfect play. There might be specific teams and/or fielders or situations you don’t test, but in general, go for it.
  3. Did he rip his pants on that? Or did that happen earlier in the game and I just didn’t notice? Or maybe it just looks like he did?
  4. Moderator note: Even though I was complicit, I'm going to remind everyone to stick to topic. Please, let's not revisit the Verlander trade in depth. We've been there, done that, this thread isn't about Verlander, so let's leave it. It's done and over, other than to mention we should be going after that now, and not the shoulda, woulda, coulda disagreements of the past. Also, this is not a thread to discuss what Terry Ryan wouldn't have done. Been there, done that, it's in the past and has no bearing on the current topic.
  5. You are about to be slapped. Now go in the corner and spit.
  6. And I would have made that trade. That is not a huge give for an ace, imo. But let's not revisit the Verlander trade any longer. It's done and over, and we would still be playing the if game. I was just pointing out to 9/12 that we wouldn't have traded the pieces on our team that are doing well today as they were already major league players and no longer prospects at that time, so we wouldn't be playing without them if we had made a trade for Verlander.
  7. There's no baloney anywhere here. Again, you don't like my answer because it doesn't meet up with yours. Now, stop it.
  8. Or Lewis, Graterol and/or Gordon. A rebuilding team like Detroit would have been looking for prospects, not MLB ready players. The Tigers received 3 prospects, Franklin Perez, Daz Cameron and Jake Rogers ... none who have even seen any major league service yet. And I'm not even sure where those prospects ranked in the Astros system, but it would not have taken either Polanco or Kepler who were NOT prospects at the time of the trade. And I'm not sure Verlander wanted to come here ... he had a better chance of winning with Houston and I think he wanted that. I don't think Minnesota was in on the equation for him. However, as Brock said above, we absolutely need to be having these conversations, and I get it, timing is everything, and we could play the 'if' game all day. Still ... we need to better our team and we will need to spend prospects to do it.
  9. But trading for him then means he's part of the rotation today. Wow! Would you look at that rotation with Verlander in it?
  10. And worse would be if said individuals were actually one and the same. That would actually be a ‘hell ho’ situation and I’d be looking for an empty seat somewhere else to sit. Along with a complaint to guest services, even if they can’t really do anything about it.
  11. Personally, I’d rather sit next to neither individuals. But you asked a question, I gave you an answer. And I gave you an answer based on personal experience having sat next to two such individuals at games. Sorry you don’t like one person’s opinion on a disgusting habit, but if you don’t want to hear the answer, don’t ask the question.
  12. Well, what about mine? It's a two-way street. You asked for preference. I gave you my preference.
  13. hahaha ... I hope we can all laugh at ourselves when we read these ... too funny!
  14. I’ve experienced both. And I would rather sit next to the drunk. Because after a while, the drunk is likely to cross a line that gets him removed due to stadium rules. And I don’t drive to the games. So I say no to the goo.
  15. I really could care less about individuals' personal choices. I just really don't want to be sitting next to someone who is spitting brown goo into a cup throughout the game. Ban it from the stadiums.
  16. So do I ... so you go over there -------------> and sit.
  17. Having sat next to someone spitting, into a cup, at a game ... it's not about being squeamish ... it's just gross. I'd be happy for it to be banned in the stadium.
  18. I'm actually fine with passing on Kimbrel and not going three years on him. My frustration is more about not signing one or two good relievers in the off-season when they were available. If for whatever reason there was that didn't make this FO comfortable with offering 3 years on Kimbrel, there were other options. I find that more of a frustration than not specifically signing Kimbrel. But, for now ... we're winning with what we have. I think that buys us a bit of time to address the BP before the August deadline ... although I hope they address it before then. And yeah, they could have before this, but didn't. It's frustrating, but it's over. I hope they do something instead. I can't imagine any FO thinking that 'standing pat' on what we have now gets us through the playoffs, because I don't believe it will. I'll keep my frustration at bay, though ... for now ... to see what they do in the coming weeks.
  19. Concur with Chief on the Baldelli game recaps. Being an out-of-towner, I don't get to see these. Of course, I could search for them on my own, but this place is my one-stop, all things Twins, place, so ... love that these are included. And I like everything else. I'm not a charts/graph person, so sometimes I do just fly over them, but I do sometimes really look at them. It usually depends on how much of the game I've actually been able to see or not, as well as if we won or not. These recaps, along with the daily minor league recaps, are two of the most important aspects of the site ... if I were forced to choose just two.
  20. Knock it off! Seriously! No one wants only gushing, positive posts ... but some get tired of the constant whining without bringing forth any real discussion. This has been your mantra just about every draft ... 'Why aren't the Twins drafting pitching? They are never going to sign any or trade for any.' I've heard it over and over. Take a step back.
  21. You will get points, however, if you can name the movie my 'you get nothing' quote comes from.
