  1. I think it’s great Romo came up just for one day. Wanting to get going, meet his new teammates and get the feel of things, watch a division rival play and see their players. Makes sense to me.
  2. wow ... did not see this coming given his slow first half ... but good for him!
  3. I think this is the most succinct summation and mirrors my feelings exactly. There is nothing more for me to say on it.
  4. He was one of the pitchers I wanted in the off-season leading up to the 2018 season. I thought his trajectory was upward moving post surgery. But ... considering his attitude while he was with us, and what it meant to him to be here, not sure I’d want to take a flyer on that. Esp not for 2 more years beyond.
  5. The game we played against Cleveland in PR last year was a great game. I’d say both game 163’s were amazing, even though we lost one of them. Greatest comeback game has to be the game against Detroit a couple years ago, right before the ASG where we scored what ... 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th? What game was it ... was it against Detroit in 1987 where they picked off the runner at 3rd? Was that the game That clinched the AL championship, or am I blurring everything? Getting too old to remember, but what constitutes ‘greatest’? But, like you, game 7 in 1991 ... one of the greatest games ever, of any team. And, yeah, okay, I’m biased.
  6. Where are you getting the 10% and 15% figures? Are those just what you think the odds are, or was that quoted from somewhere? I think with better arms, our chances to win go up by more than that. And I think we are competitive. I mean, we won last night, didn't we?
  7. Oooou!!!! Now this is WAY better than the spider thingie coming out of the swamp!
  8. When we get wins like this, against real competitive teams, teams that will most certainly be going beyond the regular season, it tells me ... we can compete against them. We can do it. It gives me hope. But we still need to make a couple of trades or it's just hoping for the best with my fingers AND toes crossed.
  9. Actually, I read that it was Schoop that prepped Arraez to be ready for the possibility. But yeah, it was Arraez' decision to go for it, and he did. Kudos all around. That was team work. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-convert-triple-play-against-yankees
  10. We always were a .500 team playing well above projections. And it was fun. Maybe they’ll find that again, maybe we’ll get some help, but I think most thought we were a .500 before the season started.
  11. Okay ... that intrigued me until the big spider thingie coming out of the swamp at the end. No. I'm worse than Ron Weasley when it comes to spiders.
  12. If Chief weren't allowed to post his groan/eye-rolling worthy jokes, he'd have nothing. But, alas, too hard to teach the dinosaur new tricks.
  13. The wild card game thread in 2017 was longer by several pages.
  14. Right. It used to be 16 and 14 teams in each league, but they changed it when they broadened interleague play. So, if interleague play is here to stay, then either universal DH or no DH I’m both leagues.
  15. My point ... DH or no DH ... if the two leagues are going to play and compete with one another throughout the season, then lets drop the separate games ... either both leagues employ the DH, or neither. If you want to preserve the distinctness of the leagues, then stop inter-league play and have them meet in the All-Star game and WS ... and that's it. (And, personally, inter-league play is the thing I dislike the most. Just so you know that's where I'm coming from.)
  16. As long as there is interleague play, I'm all for the DH in both leagues. If they want to keep the differences between leagues, then keep them separate until the WS. I think it's ridiculous for teams to be expected to play many games a season under different rules. So ... either make it the same game or keep it separated until the WS. But the DH is likely coming to the NL. It's the only way the Bryce Harper contract makes any sense, imo. I still fail to see how that has anything to do with making the parks the same. Okay, so you make one part of the game homogenous, so now you want to make every aspect homogenous, because, that's what follows?
  17. Ah, heh ... I guess i didn't read the fine print at the bottom.
  18. Just so everyone knows, there are two ongoing discussions about this in the forums. That latter is more about the impact, but the former is, well, more closely related to this article, and mentions the Athletic piece mentioned in this article. Juiced Baseball Update Home Runs
  19. Wouldn’t say Cleveland has clawed their way back in because it was too early in the season to discount them. They are now performing as expected while we are coming back to earth, more in our expected range. Will make for a close season after all. And really glad Sano is finding his way back because we need him to.
  20. They would have to add him to the 40-man and for a game or two, there is no reason to do that. Edit: ninja’d by ash.
  21. if you look at who is in the HR derby, I think those individual players, most of them, anyway, have more HRs than our top HR hitter. What we’ve accomplished with HRs has been an exceptional team effort. Besides, I don’t want any of our players jinxed or ruined for the rest of the season.
  22. Yesterday was cute. Yeah, the premise is kind of dumb, but it worked and was kind of humorous at times. It’s just one of those entertaining movies, not too deep, but also a reminder of just what this music is, and that it plays to anyone, anytime. The lead was a decent singer, nice voice, and Ed Sheeran playing himself was really good. Rocketman was a solid movie, imo. And the lead actor was phenomenal. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some buzz during award season. Pretty solid performances all around. I really enjoyed the music. Could sing every song, and would have had I been the only one in the audience. From one era to the next for me.
