  1. This summary seems much too negative after a three game sweep on the road.
  2. Yes, nice for the players. The guys who don't make the ASG roster can darn near take a real vacation.
  3. Four of the five weekends in August, the Twins are at home. That's a heck of a homestand August 23 - September 1 with St. Louis, then Atlanta, and then Toronto visiting Target Field. I'm bummed to get the Dodgers, once again most likely at a cold Target Field in April.
  4. Kirk Gibson was the biggest surprise to me. Gibby was a personal favorite and I loved his grit and hard nosed attitude. It appears no ASG appearances for Gibby due to a combination of some poor first half production and stiff competition: https://motorcitybengals.com/2020/03/16/detroit-tigers-examining-kirk-gibson-never-star/#:~:text=The All-Star Game took,t deserving of a selection. Tim Salmon is a heck of a player as well for no All Star games.
  5. I went to the Saints game on Monday night instead of the Twins game. I was a bit disappointed driving to CHS on Monday night with my choice of games since favorite Joe Ryan was pitching for the Twins. I figured it might be my only Saints game this season (I liked the independent AA Saints better) so I thought I'd make the best of it. Anyway, my wife and children like the smaller CHS venue better anyway and they don't really care about the product on the field so they actually prefer Saints games. Anyway, we had a great night at CHS despite the hour plus rain delay. Larnach went out of the stadium for the go ahead runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Saints let fans go on the field for the fireworks show viewing. It was an awesome night.
  6. That's unfortunate because I was a Dave Kingman fan during my youth and not so much of Joey Gallo. Looking at the player comparison on BB Ref, you are fairly accurate with the comparison.
  7. From 1964 - 1971 Tony O played in 161, 149, 159, 146, 128, 153, 157, and 126 games. After only appearing in 10 games in 1972, he appeared in 146, 127, and 131 games from 1973 - 1975. Buxton's games played pale in comparison.
  8. I think most of us have already flipped back to praising Byron Bust-on and calling him one of the most dynamic players in the game, when he plays the Twins are a contending team, he is one of the most talented players, etc. It's part of the fun of being a fan. For example, after heavily criticizing the Joey Gallo signing, I had egg on my face early in the season. Now, I am back to being offended at Gallo's strikeouts and calling for his release.
  9. Come on, man. The guy is in his age 24 season, had 40 MLB ABs in 2022, and was the #1 overall pick. He has proven his worthiness and should be promoted to the Twins once eligible and healthy enough.
  10. I am excited to see him get 20+ starts at the MLB level and what the results are. The potential is there for Louie to be a solid, dependable middle of the rotation starter. Potentially better, if he progresses and masters additional skills.
  11. When/if our beloved Twins complete the one and done dance, all four of the major league men's professional sports teams from Minnesota will have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in 2023. Quite a sports accomplishment for the state!
  12. Rocco is not an in your face manager, never has and never will be that type of motivator. I'm doubtful that getting in faces would work in today's MLB anyway. The Twins hitters and pitchers are trying their best and are making constant improvements, of that I'm certain. The other teams get a paycheck and are also among the best players in the world. I do agree they could shore up the defense a bit. There were some mental lapses during the last homestand that needed improvement. I'd recommend to enjoy the season and let the games play out on the field. This is the best and most complete starting rotation in many years. They are on a 90+ win pace and fans should be satisfied with that at the moment.
  13. "...the White Sox, who've already made themselves irrelevant with a truly pathetic opening month, and the Guardians, who are worth taking somewhat seriously despite also looking quite egregiously bad thus far." It's too early for statements like this. We are Minnesota and all the losing and choking in this town the last 30+ years has trained me to not even use terms line irrelevant and egregiously bad on May 1 when talking about the competition. This is Minnesota.
  14. While I can certainly understand the frustration with technical issues and would ask for a credit or refund if I were in your situation, I have to wonder if there isn't room to gain some perspective. If you are that deeply engrossed in an April matchup between the Mariners and Cubs, possibly it's time to reevaluate priorities. I'm not trying to be judgmental, just making a suggestion. It's okay to miss an occasional play, or even miss an entire game.
  15. MLB.com has their X-W/L at 12-8. BB Ref has their pythW-L% at .555 compared to actual of .524. I personally like the starting rotation and depth. The bats have been concerning so far.
  16. Is CTA the plural version of CYA? That's hilarious, I've never seen that before.
  17. Being a season ticket holder (flex pack), you get the Sweet Spot barcode scanned at the season ticket holder booth. Then, I asked for upgrades both times because the Twins said upgrades were available via email the week before the home opener. Both times the rep reached into a drawer and pulled out a stack of paper tickets, free upgrades. They gave me enough on Monday to cover my entire group even though I hadn't purchased all five of the tickets.
  18. I'm not going to rant any longer against the Twins moving the opener to Friday. I do agree it essentially worked out for the most part. The Twins also ended the partnership with Budweiser for the Good Sport program. Pre- pandemic you could sign up before each game and get a free soda. They took away the free soda the past few seasons, though you could still win a bagful of Twins gear (which I did last season). The new scoreboard is awesome and amazing. The attendance has been a major downer when you take the weather into consideration. Only 14,316 on Sunday? It has lead to amazing upgrades from the season ticket holder booth for my friends and me. I was upgraded to right behind home plate, row 15 for both Saturday and Monday (I had $4 SRO tickets). My friend was given free suite access on Monday. As always, great work Melissa. You have your finger on the pulse of Target Field.
  19. The nonexistent security lines were amazing for the home opener. I've stood in line for what felt like hours at previous home openers, so this was a definite upgrade to the fan experience. The scoreboard was rather impressive. I did notice about halfway through the game that a portion of the scoreboard wasn't working. I'm sitting in Target Field pregame Saturday and it appears fixed. As usual, the Twins have made upgrades to Target Field that really enhance the fan experience.
  20. He seems like a super nice, great guy. His BB Ref page says: Full Name: Hyun Choi Conger Twitter: @PandaCrusher35 SUMMARY Career WAR 2.0 AB 1013 H 224 HR 31 BA .221 He played with the Angels and Houston, so with Trout, Pujols, and Altuve. It would be fun to get some stories from Hank.
  21. No thank you, still a hard pass on Gallo. The one game I've seen him in a Twins uniform is one game too many. I do hope he hits 38+ home runs and I'm wrong with egg on my face.
  22. Saturday and Sunday day games in the World Series with the pitch clock sound like a grand experiment worth it to me.
  23. Wouldn't it just be pleasant if Buxton played 100 games in center field and another 30-40 at DH for a few years straight so we don't need to have these types of discussions. Dare to dream.
  24. Correa just seems like a good teammate. From mentoring Miranda to promoting the new hitting coach, he seems to reach out and try to make the team better. Now, the guy isn't perfect or an angel with the trash can scandal always on his resume. Still, he appears to be a good clubhouse teammate.
