  1. It's kind of a summary of the push/pull of Bush's career. He seems random and forgettable then you mention him in the same breath alongside Puckett and Hrbek. I've talked to many younger generation Twins fans who don't recognize Randy Bush so I am glad you profiled his career.
  2. Pure brilliance, this was hilarious on many different levels.
  3. I've been to 5 Twins game this year, they are 2-3 when I'm there. The dog in the park promotion is something I'd normally stay a million miles away from. It's not cute for a clump of your dog's fur to land in my nachos (happened to me at a Minor League dog at the park day in Iowa) and I don't need to hear your dog bark when I'm trying to enjoy the ballgame. However, it sounds like the Twins did a good job of keeping the dogs in their own area so hand clap for that effort. As for the Gio walk up music, Building 429 is one of the greatest CCM bands and that song just brings the Spirit when it's played. I had a Christian friend at Target Field with me just go wild with joy when he heard the song (he had never heard it before) and Gio instantly became his favorite. Tip of the cap to Gio for not being afraid to give his Chritian testimony through the power of music! As for the upgrade to the lower level, it was great for the final White Sox game, not so great for the Dodgers day game. Against the Dodgers, I was placed far down the right field line. Terrible seats, terrible views, and I had a crink in my neck by the third inning so I moved behind home plate. The upgraded tickets against the Sox were perfection. I normally attend more games in April and May so overall I like this idea. Thanks for posting these, Melissa. It's a great fan at Target Field perspective.
  4. This entire episode is embarrassing on multiple levels.
  5. Not getting that third Cy Young turned out to be a backbreaker. Too bad. The ideas presented can't hurt, I suppose. Though they really are ridiculous if you think about them. Johan will get into the HOF based on the argument that he was robbed of Cy Young #3 and all with three Cy Young awards are in the HOF. The side by side argument that Johan's career is (nearly) equivalent to Sandy Koufax's career needs to get highlighted and gain attention. It hurts the Twins had so little postseason success and Johan has no signature postseason moment.
  6. I would attend "Forgotten Twins Jersey Giveaway" in real life and pay for the ticket. Why is there no link to the BB Ref page for PJ Walters?
  7. From the first column in this series, "What defines “greatest?” I let our voters decide; no boundary or guideline came from me. Perhaps some writers valued regular season performance, playoff success, individual accomplishments, run differential, or just how much fun it was to watch said team in their consideration. Individual ballots reflected their personality to a degree, but I think the consensus represents a solid, well-rounded group touching on numerous critical eras for the team." We are talking greatest not best. Greatness is World Series championships. If you are looking at best regular season teams then 1965 is 1 and 2019 is 2. Yes, the 1987 team is most likely not in the top 10 best regular season teams and 1991 is somewhere at the bottom of that mix. Without the 1987 and 1991 World Series championships, the Twins franchise would be a laughingstock on par with the Minnesota Vikings. 1991 and 1987 are at the top of my list.
  8. Woulda coulda shoulda... No World Series ring, 1965 should be at #3 behind 1987.
  9. Using the criteria of "...a world championship as a secondary consideration", 1987 barely cracks the top 10. I'll take the rings. The 1987 team was the second best of the "Greatest Twins Teams of All Time".
  10. Ok, I'll take the bait. The 1987 Twins should be number 2 on this list. They won the World Series for goodness' sake. I don't think anyone is going to debate that 1987 was a better regular season team than 1965. You can take your consolation prize. I'll take Kirby, Herbie, and the Sweet Music of a World Series championship.
  11. I mean, yeah sure guys. You just kinda have to shrug your shoulders and smile at these type of Buxton stories at this point in his career. They are the Buxton version of the 'fat guy in the best shape of his life' stories. After Buxton's career is finished there will probably be quite a fascinating history with this theme. If the guy could get 80-100 games in the field in a season, I think most Twins fans would take it going forward.
  12. As incredible it is to even think it is possible... Right now, it's the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Vikings will be never win the Super Bowl. The Wild are the definition of mediocre. Our Twins have a long shot chance due to the expanded MLB playoffs and the randomness recently experienced in the playoffs. Shockingly, the forever terrible Timberwolves have a legitimate team so far this season and appear to have a decent chance at an NBA title in 2024.
  13. In another life I was in the collection industry (flexible hours, large commission checks was the draw for a 22 year old). These type of excuses such as family member/beloved pet death, some type of current political event (real estate/stock market crash/some industry collapsing highlighted in the news) were next level stalls right behind no job and divorce.
  14. I would seriously consider rescinding my Twins fandom if they signed Tim Anderson. l also don't quite understand the OP's reasoning on the fight with Ramirez. Anderson squared up like an olde tyme bare knuckle boxer and started the fight. Ramirez wasn't innocent up to that point, that I agree with. Anderson initiated the fisticuffs, got knocked out, and looked like a chump. The OP sounds like the president of the Tim Anderson fan club or a relative.
  15. No more Joey Gallo type signings is one big positive.
  16. Yes, Ron Washington doesn't seem the type of player you place on a media guide based on the on field production. Great guy, great coach, great ambassador of the game. Hopefully, he can get a ring now as a manager with Mike Trout and the Angels.
  17. Gary Ward.
  18. 🎵🎶 Just say no to Sano. Just say no to Sano. Just say no to Sano. Just say no to Sano... 🎵🎶
  19. Melissa, thank you for having your finger on the pulse of what is happening at Target Field. While many writers in today's sports world don't even operate from the stadium (which is fine, I don't want to open that debate), I really appreciate the vantage point you offer from Target Field. As for the hankies, I'm going to stock up as always and pray for a deep postseason run. I'll be waving my Homer Hanky at game one. Win Twins! I also remember the original song about my baby waving the Homer Hanky.
  20. Friday night worked out well for me. I had concert tickets that I ended selling because nobody wanted to go with me. The thought of seeing the Angels without Trout and Ohtani was not appealing until it became apparent the Twins could clinch the Central on Friday night. I went solo (pathetic, I know) to the Twins game and bought a $25 SRO ticket. It was well worth the effort to get to Target Field. Anytime that you can celebrate like that as a Minnesota sports fan you have to take advantage. This Twins starting pitching plays and I'm hopeful they can make a run to at least the ALDS. Why not the ALCS or even the World Series. Let's play the games and see what happens. These Twins have a chance.
  21. It was BS in a chef's salad how MLB allowed the waiver wire to unfold. Shame on MLB for allowing this loophole. The Twins should be outraged. If the Twins do choke away the Central, I hope all the waiver wire pickups for Cleveland play a pivotal role.
