  1. It seems like this could be a career ender. Unless some team sees value having Kepler there for the second half of the season with no playoffs, which seems unlikely to me. I thought of Kepler as a borderline Twins Hall of Fame type player. I wonder if this removes him from that conversation in the future.
  2. You letting the ownership off the hook is more damaging than categorizing them as possibly the worst owners. There was evidence presented that the Pohlads have been running the same scheme related to payroll since the 1990s. If nearly 30 years of the same false narratives doesn't convince you of the damage the Pohlads have caused, I'm not sure what else can. I'm not certain why you only use payroll as your basis for judgment. There are other factors to consider. I'm looking big picture. Are you forgetting the past two years with the streaming debacle, the trade deadline of 2025, etc. I also look at antecdotal evidence and see friends and family who have supported the Twins for decades (some since the 1960s) saying they are bailing on supporting the Twins, will not renew season ticket packages, and are "done". These aren't passive fans, they are hardcore. Some are refusing to attend games with me in 2026. ESPN recently rated Twins fans as most frustrated: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47335875/mlb-2025-10-most-frustrated-fan-bases-red-sox-mets-twins-cardinals These are signs of a terrible ownership group and legitimate complaints. Defend the Pohlads all you want. I refuse to.
  3. The Pohlads are perhaps the worst owners in North American men's professional sports. That's really the baseline. All the other hand wringing about payroll, debt, and lame Pohlad excuses is like spitting into the wind. Forty plus years has proven things won't change. I really try to focus on enjoying the games regardless of outcome and enjoying Target Field.
  4. As my dad said so many times during my youthful years, "I'd rather be lucky than good."
  5. Great list and fun to relive some positive Twins memories. Jack Morris at #1 because of the championship. Much like Kirby Puckett will always be the greatest Twins player because of the titles.
  6. Hard pass. There's not much discussion needed when current state Royce Lewis is the top conversation piece.
  7. None of those guys moves the attendance needle one millimeter. Zero impact. I'd guess even a surprising above .500 start through Memorial Day wouldn't save the attendance figures at Target Field. I know multiple friends and family that have supported the Twins for decades and are now saying they will not watch until the Pohlads are gone/things truly change, etc. This franchise has burned up all goodwill with the ticket buying fanbase.
  8. Alright, I'll drink the Kool Aid on a cold December evening. Although I will never never never NEVER condone the Varland trade. I don't care if Kendry Rojas progresses into a Johan Santana/Frank Viola/Bert Blyleven/Walter Johnson superhero composite. You just don't do that to Louis and the Minnesota fans.
  9. The Twins could use Gallo out of the bullpen: https://www.mlb.com/news/joey-gallo-posts-video-of-pitching-off-mound
  10. I went back and double checked to see if the original post was satire. It isn't, right?!?!? I'm happy I don't have to retract my previous comment. Although you did get me thinking for a moment that I was duped.
  11. "...there is something undeniably entertaining about the idea." Sano is the least entertaining signing I could possibly imagine. If the Twins bring this guy back it would shake my belief in this organization and I've spent the last 4 months defending the Twins after the trade deadline fire sale to family, friends, and coworkers. If the Twins bring back Sano, I might join my many friends who have been decades long Twins fans and have finally said no more.
  12. These are valid points and an interesting perspective. When people are griping about Falvey and the Pohlads and I'm feeling combative, I just might use some of these examples.
  13. One of the reasons that Puckett is the greatest Twins ever, no question asked and no disputes. Without Kirby in 1987 and 1991, this franchise and this sporting market for major league professional men's teams, would have nothing.
  14. I hope the optimistic take turns out correct. I'm just being realistic. I never said I punted on 2026. I plan to attend about 20 games at Target Field next season, so a competitive Twins team seems like a nice blessing to experience.
  15. 💯 in agreement. I'm sure Shelton is a nice fellow and we know he's a solid baseball soldier. Yes, disappointed is the correct word for this hire because it's more of the same old same old that hasn't worked. Perhaps Shelton will have success, I sure hope so. The Twins franchise is quickly cementing their status as a laughingstock to the rest of the league. The Twins get the tired and safe pick of Shelton while the Giants and Nationals go younger with their new managerial choices. https://awaybackgone.com/guardians-fans-won-t-be-able-to-stop-laughing-at-twins-managerial-finalists-01k8jxyrd7hx Guardians fans won't be able to stop laughing at Twins' managerial finalists Not exactly an intimidating list. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2025/10/30/nationals-and-twins-going-in-very-different-directions-with-their-managerial-hires/ Nationals and Twins Going in Very Different Directions with Their Managerial Hires
  16. It's this injury riddled history combined with the I don't do slumps jinx comment and the 2B comments that turned Royce's once stellar reputation into something viewed by many as sketchy. The fans can only make their judgment based on the information they see and are shown. The human element is a factor in what makes following a team long term interesting. You are right it's all just speculation. The Twins have to just play Royce the next three seasons to see what they have and hope the guy stays healthy. I'd bet you the mortgage he's really a nice kid. It does not matter either way, he needs to produce on the field and stay healthy.
  17. I'm going with the baseball gods smote Royce when he bragged on June 20, 2024, about how he doesn't "do that slump thing".
  18. I do this type of comparison frequently with all the Minnesota men's major league sports teams. Last year, when the Eagles won the Super Bowl, I thought back to the NFC Championship game the week after the Minneapolis Miracle. The Vikings failed to take advantage of the miracle and the chance to play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium and were crushed by the eventual champion Eagles. The Eagles have three Super Bowl appearances and two titles since then while the Vikings are stuck in their usual up and down mediocrity with no franchise quarterback. Same thing with the Timberwolves compared to OKC. They are NBA champs, passing by the Wolves as the top up and coming team and turned it into a championship.
  19. Right. He might be LVP here, however, I saw DaShawn Keirsey Jr. hit a walk-off RBI single on May 11, 2025, to give the Minnesota Twins a 7-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants. He hit the ball 'right at me' toward my seat at Target Field. I had my daughter and grandson with me, so it's just a great memory. Aren't at least a few of these guys the prospect types who were pumped as being the next valuable piece in the lineup? It's why I'm skeptical of the prospect talk hyping a guy who's done nothing in the MLB.
  20. How could the Royce Lewis playoffs moment only be 2 years ago... it feels like 20.
  21. I'm taking it as a lighthearted comment. You are not off base in many respects. I mean, I probably have about 50 years left on this earth... and I'm guessing that my four favorite men's professional sports teams (Twins, Timberwolves, Vikings, Wild) will not win a championship during that time. I could either give up following those teams or sit back and enjoy the experience of the games detached from outcome. What about bringing the "We're gonna win Twins" song to Target Field? I remember it at the Metrodome. I'm with you on the multiple uniforms and team colors. You could pick a hundred Twins fans at a Twins home game and not a one of them would match.
  22. Yes, Gardy was overrated and stayed well past expiration date. Your examples could have been chalked up to bad luck, though at some point the manager needs to shoulder the blame.
