  1. A 23 yr old who by all accounts is solid to good defensively as a catcher. Now the bat appears to be showing so power. If he can add some more contact he may be a solid catcher. I would guess he is a 40 man add this off-season unless the bat falls off the rest of the way!!! He isn’t much of an option in 2023 unless both Jeffers and Vasquez go down.
  2. This game is what bad teams do and is an example of where we are. Up 5 runs and lets teams hang around, don’t make plays defensively to give extra outs. Then keep throwing out the same veterans because you signed them and are unwilling to pivot and cut bait when it doesn’t work out. You just can’t keep giving Pagan inning that matter in any situation. You just knew today that it was going to end badly. Was like staring at a burning fuse heading to a stick of TNT!!!
  3. I think health wise Buxton can’t play CF. Not that he can’t get up and go but watching him stop and after he gets up and goes he is in obvious pain. He either needs a IL stint and a reevaluation of his injury and treatment or worst case he is now our DH for the next 6 yrs. I truly believe he will be a DH only until late August early September. If the Twins are in contention they will give him a cordazone shot in the knee and work him back into CF the last 4 to 6 weeks and have him grind it out through the playoffs as the CFer. The fix in the mean time is the twins need to tell Kepler if he wants to stay on this team he needs to get his at bats in CF. Kepler and Taylor split time in CF opening RF.
  4. Hoping Vasquez can turn it around a bit but the numbers are very troubling. The issue is the Twins haven’t drafted or developed Catchers and you have no other options passed signing one to a longer term deal this last offseason. I was a Big Ben Rortvedt fan but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Thought he was a perfect paring with Jeffers as he was great defensively and a LH bat. Looks like they moved off Garver as well at the perfect time. Both those trades were wins for the Twins overall. I do hope the Jeffers and Vasquez playing time flips now and Jeffers gets the 60% of the starts and Vasquez takes the latter. Jeffers has looked like the guy with the bat and has looked really improved defensively behind the plate.
  5. Buxton is at the top of the list if the knee is now completely shot and he is a DH for the remainder of his careeer. Correa will turn it around and hit fine not worried. Can I add Kepler to this list? I thought with the shift ball his approach would go back to trying to pull the ball hard and more balls would be hits and HRs. I guess I drank too much of that koolaid. Miranda I was never sold in last season I figured there was going to be a sophomore slump but after the big spring training I was starting to come around. Mahle might work out if they can sign him long term for I big discount now that’s he is going through TJ.
  6. Hine sight yes they should have. I thinking they thought they had more in guys like Ronny Hernandez and Sand and Winder and an opening for those options rather then making them kick down the door. Pagans 3.5 million was a complete waste and I think we all knew that going into the season. What they keep seeing in him is beyond me.
  7. Gotta leave him in the rotation as a rotation arm for the rest of the year. Easy to translate to a bullpen arm if needed. With rotation injuries the depth has been eaten up already. SWR velocity keeps falling not sure he’s going to be effective in MLB at 90 mph with his fastball. I do t want to see Aaron Sanchez again and Hendricks doesn’t impress me.
  8. This article didn’t age well. 7 shutout innings tonight. Health is an issue and I wouldn’t sign him to a long term extension but he seems to give you a chance to win every time he pitches. Might he break down later in the season and not have a long sustained career maybe. Let the good times role and get what you can out of him. Not that adjustment aren’t needed but what he’s been doing works for him.
  9. He’s a guy who needs to be sent down and then shopped at the trade deadline. He had all this trade value going into the season and think they could have got something for him. He reminds me of a guess hitter like Jason Kubel but when he guesses right he doesn’t hit bombs! I hate guys with “power potential” based on body type but never show it before getting the big league call. Then we are so surprised when they don’t hit for power in the majors. Realistically you have a week or two to figure this out before both Kirilloff and Wallner kick down the door
  10. Need 2 games a week from Buxton in CF and 2 games a week from Gallo in CF and 2 from Taylor. you can still do the defensive substitutions late in games to get Taylor in CF.
  11. With all the off-season to many outfielders need to trade one!! it took till April 14 to see an outfield of Taylor Garlick and Willie Castro!!! Now Taylor has been great this far! Castro has been good and Garlick has always been able to mash lefties and if he only played against them he is great!
  12. I like the strategy of using Durán late in games against the tough part of the order. If that’s the 7th 8th or 9th I don’t care. Then using López or Jax as the traditional 9th inning guy to end the game. If we do t have a 5 run lead or more I’m not comfortable seeing Pagán!!
  13. His pitch mix sounds a lot like a few other very solid Twins relievers who were failed starters. Jax and Duffey. To me he seems much more like a RH Glen Perkins. If that fastball can tick up in the bullpen and he can rely that big sweeper and split he can be very valuable out of the pen.
  14. Wait you left out Austin Martin who stole 35 bases at AA last yr and another 10 in the AFL. You also left Michael Helman off who stole 40 last yr at AAA.
  15. Hoffman makes it as the long man who will likely be up and down multiple times this season. the position player part is more difficult. If Polanco and Kirilloff are out more then the first week or 10 days OR I’d Miranda still can’t play 3B then Castro makes the team. If they just need a guy to fill in and add insurance and may not even play it could be White or Garlick.
  16. The biggest impact and potential on the lineup starts here. If Miranda has to move to 1B his value plummets. The difference between finding a 3B bat and finding a 1B bat is huge. It also allows Kirilloff to play everyday at 1B. If this Twins team is going to be any good they are going to need Kirilloff healthy and productive and Miranda to play as well offensively as he did in 22.
  17. Wow really!? 5 legit mlb prospect a few with some nice mov inning already on the starting staff and a lineup with Larnach, and Martin Harris and Tyler white. Michael Helmen put up good AAA numbers last yr as well. I have a feeling the Saints early on will be very good and exciting team to watch.
  18. With Lux going out for the season would the Dodgers have interest and what would they be willing to give up for Farmer or Gordon. If you could capitalize on selling Gordon as a SS with the production he had a year ago and the years on control left could he bring in a solid prospect or 2? View full rumor

  20. Hinge sight is always 20/20 on these guys. If you draft 1 or 2 tool plays and one or both of those tools isn’t elite you don’t have a guy who ever makes it. He put up elite college # with the bat and he is a big strong guy it just hasn’t translated. hoping something clicks this season and he becomes valued in 2023.
  21. Well because other teams see the ascending in Gordon as well. Cheap and multiple years of team control is tradable to many small market and rebuilding teams. If the Twins see Gordon as just a 4th outfielder you have a bunch of LH hitting COF and a replacement CF already on the roster. Good business to sell on him now and bring in a solid reliever. I am totally puzzled by the deal and brainstorming how it makes sense.
  22. For this to be a major league deal there must be a major injury announcement coming to Polanco or Kirilloff or Nick Gordon. Or Nick Gordon is being traded. With the last 2 additions (Taylor in CF and Solano) Gordon playing time has been replaced. Maybe Gordon has some value around the league and is being shopped.
  23. This tells me Kirilloff is hurt and not ready for the season or that Nick Gordon is either being traded or not seen as a viable infield option at any spot in the infield.
  24. I believe Gallo is going to have a giant season. The no shift pull happy Gallo helps his average tremendously ad he can just focus on hitting the ball hard. Which will help him between the ears. boy I hope Jorge Lopez isn’t that bad. Gave up a lot for him that’s worst the the Matt Capp trade yr ago
  25. No Nick Gordon at 3B!!! If Miranda goes down bring up Julian to play everyday. Otherwise Farmer can take all the reps at 3B if Miranda needs a day off.
