  1. I can’t see Larnach being the last bench spot. He doesn’t do anything different or better then either Kepler or Wallner and can’t play CF. My guess is they are going to bring in someone from the outside. I think it is become less likely that MAT is back maybe Adam Duvall? Otherwise the best utility player and CF option after ST. If that is Martin they need to make sure he is getting ample starts in CF and starting in LF against LHP. Martin would fit in nicely in PH late in games against left relievers and pinch running for Kepler or Wallner late in game along with starting in CF to give Buxton days off and Allow Castro to do the same gives Baldelli lots of options and moving parts late in games.
  2. I think this is it. I do t think they are going to spend on a MAT and they are not going to bring in one of the high end free agents remaining. Maybe they get a deal on Duvall and they bring him in. I’m hoping they are going to use some prospect capital and some $ at the deadline to bring in the playoff starter they need.
  3. Can Michael Helman be the RH Nick Gordon replacement? Better defender, with more SB success and more versitile defender. Sir of Fort Myers!? Is Chris Williams still considered a catcher and a catching option at all even if it’s part time? Has consistently put up some really good numbers in AAA.
  4. I am much more of a closer to big league guy should be more valued l. Yes you have seen the warts but atleast you have seen. why haven’t you let Raya go deeper into starts? Is it durability which means he likely won’t stand the test of time even at the big leagues. Or all he is is a reliever? He hasn’t even dominated in short starts. Rayas has to learn to go through the order a second and third time and get double A hitters out. I like the 6’6 big body of Festa and not sure he can’t continue to develop and be more than just a back end starter. He has velo and a continued development and adjustment make a big difference.
  5. Still not sure there isn’t some bigger roster shake ups with a trade for a starting pitcher. maybe involving moving Walner or Julien . I wouldn’t be suprised if Pittsburgh was involved. If they bring in a RH DH or Outfielder you know the roster tinkering is complete.
  6. Simply put No he can't!!! His greatest asset has been his speed yet he has never even put up remotely decent SB #s. That skill is quickly diminishing! Buxton has never had good plate disabling which as bat speed diminishes effects his effectiveness. IF he gets healthy and returns to an elite defender how many gold glove years does he have left in CF. Those skill don’t age well like a corner IF. I just hoping for a decent season from him this year where he can play CF and contribute atleast part time.
  7. The Twins have to let him learn how to get hitters out a second and third time through the order. If that means skipping starts and throwing on the side. To me right now he is an arm talent with only reliever ability can’t have him this high until he works through lineups. Canterino has way more pitch ability and arm talent and has proven he can get minor leaguers out with stuff. Hopefully we see it in 2024 and Raya can get some upper minors experience.
  8. I would think Kiki would be a good signing for a million and to take Nick Gordon’s roster spot. It would be trade or cut Gordon. A right handed speed and contact hitter to fill in at LF and CF would be nice addition. If we have no $ MAT isn’t a option, I just feel bad that Nick Gordon is a solid backup OFer with some speed but he hits LH the same as the 2 starts already who are much better.
  9. Yes showcases are like the NFL draft combine. Some guys look great in the underwear Olympics but skills never translate. Some guys don’t put up great # but are great on the field. Thays why teams are straying away from HS arms. A kid can throw gas in a t shirt and shorts but once he has to face live professional hitters, throw for an inning and sit for a half innning and go out and do it again th fastball losses zip the breaking ball hangs and the change up doesn’t have much change. I wouldn’t have ranked Soto so high without pitching but prospect list are just for selling hopes and dreams so I get that.
  10. Gonzalez reminds me a lot of Oswaldo Arcia I think this is going to translate to trading high end hitting prospects at the deadline. I don’t think a move for pitching is coming before ST. By July they should have a TV deal in place or a better indication of future TV revenue and a better indication of some higher end hitting talent (ERod and Gonzalez) they will swing at the deadline for a playoff starting pitching g help then even if it is expensive.
  11. If he can’t stick at catcher I am not sure he ever reaches the big leagues. He Doesnt have big power numbers or great hit tool for a corner outfielder. The bar for a solid hitting catcher is much lower. The uniquely of his skills are intriguing for a catcher would be great to see a catcher with a solid bat and speed on the bases with a big arm defensively behind the plate.
  12. I agree with all who said Canterino could be put in the Bullpen and be effective and valuable opening day and has closer stuff and mentality. Staumont we will know early. If he can’t get that fastball back he is likely cooked. I actually have some confidence in Josh Winder, might be blind but I think the sinking fastball he had late and the slider can be effective. Hopefully he can commit to being a Bullpen role. He reminds me a lot of Duffey. I believe Gordon is gone he won’t make the opening day roster and will get taken up by another team. His skill set doesn’t fit our team but is a solid player.
  13. I think they are banking on Buxton in CF and part time or utility option to supplement. (Castro, Martin) If Buxton can’t go in CF and teams needs a regular in CF like last season I think it will be throw guys out there and sink or swim. I don’t think Gordon is on this team as currently constructed. Unless they trade Farmer or Polanco for pitching.
  14. I don’t see either of these two being big league starters but rather future bullpen options. Morris with an deceptive delivery and Zebby with the big body to add velo in short stints and continuing to develop the sweeper.
  15. If the Twins settle a contract with Gordon pre arbitration hearing is he guaranteed that $. If Twins decide to not add him to the 26 man roster after ST and he is outright with no options what is guaranteed and does that change is they settle or if they go through the arb process? With the current Twins roster or if they add a CF I’m 50/50 on Gordon making the team. I don’t see his value unless he is platooning with Castro or Buxtonin CF.
  16. He has a similar stuff and mix as Griffin Jax. Would be amazing if he could develop into Jax 2.0
  17. Wallner had a different 2 strike approach. And can’t fall into the keep swinging for it all. Try and mash the first two strikes and slight shorten up when down in the count. That aspect has to improve. If he hits .240 .250 again next year he will be a fringe all star with his power and walks
  18. We have been beating this horse for 2 years. asking for him to just spell Buxton in CF. Don’t know if it’s just Kepler ( we know he opening says he prefers RF) or the organization as well. Either way I think this option is completely off the table. i going to guess they are going to be overly optimistic on Buxton and turn it over to him and Gordon and when Buxton goes down and Gordon struggles they turn to some combo of Kersey Martin.
  19. There is no bad minor league deal! Chris Williams (as a DH 1B) and Sabato aren’t big leaguers so sticking him in St. Paul would be a nice piece. Not many players have as big an upside as Sano. Lotto ticket but never know.
  20. If they see something they can change and adjust to make him widely more successful I'm for it. You don’t trade a very solid MLB set up man and a MLB starting Corner outfielder with years of control for both left for a 5th starter with a near 5 ERA and a low Krate.. Maybe a Larnach and another piece like Funderburk or Alcala or Nick Gordon.
  21. No, at the time you traded extra pieces on the depth chart for a very solid starting pitchers. At the time Twins had Steers behind Miranda, Martin and CES without a position and was seeing Kiriloff taking off at 1B. I also think the Twins have no confidence or ability in developing LHP.
  22. I think looking into Max Meyer and AJ Puk. The 2 combined are likely worth half the value of Luzardo.
  23. Hoping Canterino can come in healthy and contribute. Maybe in an Andrew Miller role. Hoping Winder finds a way to carve out a role as well. But yes they need to add atleast one major league bullpen arm. Lots of injuries and injury history to guys in the pen.
  24. Have we really had that much success? We compare it to the end of the Terry Ryan era but around the league no so much. Especially with bringing in FA or established MLB players. Pablo Lopez stayed healthy which help his # but was he really much better? Joe Ryan has came in as a finished minor league product and made some adjustments. The others have just been developed through or system. I don’t think the Angels are going to compete and are completely fooling themselves. I don’t know much about Sandoval will be looking more in depth about him.
  25. Mitch Keller would be a nice add, could pay in just prospect capital. With some pitch mix adjustments and a more consistent changeup could be a ace.
