  1. This is the most sensible position. The Twins should not refuse to be the Dallas Cowboys trading Herschel Walker.
  2. The Twins should sign him and then dust off 1977 era pitcher Paul Thormodsgard’s old #22 jersey. For those not in the know, the name on the back was “THOR”.
  3. The Twins have apparently dropped their desire for “JH” players (Jhoan, Jharel …).
  4. I think the chances of getting any of those unknown ten are about the chances of seeing this article without paying for it.
  5. I agree. Don’t bet the farm. I also want a long run of winning seasons. Add a rent-a-player Starter. That moves one of the current starters to the pen. Add Maeda, Dobnak and/or Alcala to the bullpen AND that is improved. Absolutely, the Twins should not trade Steer. It’s equally obvious that they shouldn’t trade Correa, who provides the leadership and performance to lead a successful playoff run this year.
  6. The Devil Wears Parada. Take him if he’s there.
  7. I was at that game today. What a nasty thing to watch? Hopefully, it gave the front office a kick in the pants to make a few additions and a few subtractions.
  8. The Twins have been in the hunt to land Noah Syndegaard for years. He’s lost a bit over the years, but he looks like a reasonable trade target for the Twins (without having to give up much). Once a starter is added, the bullpen gets stronger as Archer, Maeda and Smeltzer become options out there.
  9. I’ll complain less about our announcers, even when Duck Bremer announces a “pop up” which then goes all the way to the wall. Somehow, my DVR recorded the Texas feed of the Twins - Rangers series. At one time, the announcers brought in former Rangers pitcher John Burkett. They interviewed him about the good old days for an eternity. Not only did they mostly ignore the game on audio but it was worse. The camera stayed on the play-by-play guy, the color guy and Burkett while they yap yap yapped. They tried briefly to cut back to the action each time they thought the batter was about to swing. Still, they missed some of the action entirely. It was a disgrace to baseball. I’d take Russ Shimooka over that.
  10. I agree. I think Kepler and Polanco are likely to be moved to make way for younger (cheaper) and maybe better people at their positions (Arraez, Larnach, Celestino, Steer …).
  11. Huh? Gene Larkin was part of the 87-91 Core Four? He was a bench player. Sorry Gene but Dan Gladden is the other Core Fourman from those years. Alex Kirilloff looks like a likely Fourman.
  12. Remember, Kenta Maeda and Dobber are going to be ready maybe even later this month.
  13. It’s easy. after his rehab starts at AAA, evaluate Sanyo’s performance. If he is hitting well and cutting his strike-outs just a little, Sano can be a big help on the bench and as a DH. If he is lousy, or even mediocre, cut ties.
  14. In the MLB Top 100 Prospects St Louis also has #33 prospect Matthew Liberatore (LHP, currently at AAA) and #99 Mason Wynn (SS with a great arm who akdo has the ability to be a pitcher - he is currently at AA). Jordan Walker is #24.
  15. This is a big series. I hope Tyler Duffey can string a few more good appearances together like the last two - one of the many positive developments of the last few games
  16. This might be a way to determine if there is “dirty laundry”. How many Twins pitchers are being quoted lamenting the departure of Wes Johnson? Chris Archer had a nice comment for him in today’s Strib. But it doesn’t seem like the organization is in intense grief over this. But it’s early.
  17. Andrelton Simmons could have helped the Twins when they were short handed in Toronto.
  18. Somehow my post didn’t get posted (TD sometimes censors posts about people who wear masks, so maybe that’s it). So I will try again Sanchez should play much more than Jeffers. Then with our high draft pick, try to draft Kevin Parada or Daniel Susac, both are college catchers predicted by sone pundits to go in the first round.
  19. I was there. It was a great game. I hope Nick is OK
  20. The booing hasn’t reached AJ levels yet, but I have heard a smattering of boos when Josh Donaldson was introduced at Target Field during the last two games. Josh can be an abrasive guy, as evidenced by more than just the the “sticky stuff” controversy last year with Gerrit Cole, and this year’s dust-up and bench clearing brawl related to mocking the Chi-Sox’s Tim Anderson by calling him “Jackie” (in a Sports Illustrated interview, Tim Anderson may have made a mockable comment, when he referred to himself as “Today’s Jackie Robinson” - but that interview was FIVE YEARS AGO). Those who are booing also might mention that Josh was injured too much (not his fault) and didn’t produce to the level of his big contract (when he played, his hitting and especially his fielding were pretty good in my opinion). Josh Donaldson didn’t leave here and give nasty parting shots to Minnesota, the Twins, his teammates nor the fans. He was traded and made the obligatory, gracious remarks about his former team. This wasn’t like Bert Blyleven who gave a “bad gesture” to Twins fans in his last appearance before being traded to Texas. As a borderline juvenile delinquent, I went to Bert’s first Texas start against us in order to boo him. So - I’m not immune from booing a former Twin. Nevertheless, I did not throw batteries at Knobbie. So I vote that Josh Donaldson, despite his acerbic personality, is not deserving of being singled out for special booing by the Twins faithful at Target Field. If you disagree, tell us why Josh should be singled out. I don’t think Twins who are traded need to take out a full page ad thanking the fans like Corey Koskie. But that was nice.
  21. And then there was Duffey’s performance in what was a close Twins-Yankees game (pre-Duffey) …
  22. Apparently, a Doctor must document an actual injury before a player can be put on the IL. So here are two ways to get that accomplished - Put Duffy in Centerfield at Target Field for a game. He’ll be on the IL before the game is over, based on the history of Twins Center Fielders. Or maybe get one of the No-Vax Four to be Tyler Duffy’s roommate on the road.
