  1. I think you're more or less right. Listen to what's out there but Santana and Dozier don't have to be moved unless we like the return. If we want to move Santana because we think he's a pumpkin then the return is going to be pretty bad. I'd bring Romero up to the pen soon. Garver to the majors as well. Probably Curtiss and any other bullpen arm I think can help going forward to see what we have. Gonsalves should finish the year at AAA.
  2. I don't think so but he does have upside. Sickels like him a lot.
  3. I've heard that story probably a dozen times. No idea if it's true but I want it to be true.
  4. Maybe. But I think Levine (who is certainly in charge of this) has a pretty good rep around the league. I certainly am not worried about him getting an AJ Preller reputation, for sure. But teams might think the Twins squeeze more than they should.
  5. Sounds like the Twins are out of the Garcia sweepstakes.
  6. Well, sounds like this wasn't as much of a sure thing as expected.
  7. Wade for Garcia and a backend prospect (LEN reported that Atlanta might include a prospect) seems fair.
  8. Yeah, I think I'd rather lose Garver, actually. I like Rortveldt's upside even though he's very far away.
  9. Nice to see Baddoo moved up, he earned it. I really think he and Miranda are going to jump up prospect ranking lists this offseason for us.
  10. I don't think the Twins would move off of Stewart this quickly. While he's a lighting rod around here, he was on Klaw's top 100 entering the season, the Twins probably have a few people in the system who think highly of him and he's relatively young for AA still. I think it's more likely to be a guy like Blankenhorn or Wade type player.
  11. on mlbtraderumors, someone was posting that Brave fans are hearing that it's Blankenhorn. He's hitting .233/.341/.410 in Cedar Rapids but is currently our #7 prospect, per pipeline (although they haven't done a mid-season update yet).
  12. Oh yeah, this place is going to erupt. We apparently have a weak farm system except when we trade someone and we gave up a future HOF. That said, I really hope we aren't trading Baddoo.
  13. Braves SN site is pushing names like Baddoo (Georgia native), Javier, Kiriloff (they know that won't happen), Garver, Melo and Jay. I'm sure they mentioned others but that's what I saw reading their comments. https://www.talkingchop.com/2017/7/20/16006774/mlb-trade-rumors-atlanta-braves-jaime-garcia-minnesota-twins
  14. Per LEN we might be getting a minor leaguer back as well so maybe the cost is someone in our 15-25 prospect rankings (per pipeline, those guys would be Javier, Thorpe, Burdi, Hildenberger, Reed, Melotakis, Granite, Baddoo, Miranda, Ynoa. Melo was already available so it's not him. Burdi is injured, Hildenberger and Granite are in the majors, Javier and Thorpe would cause this website to burn down. Ynoa, Miranda and Baddoo are too young to get rid of yet. Reed?
  15. The reality is that the Twins have been pretty good with promotions since Brad Stiel took over as farm director.
  16. Nice night for Gonsalves as well as Thorpe. I'd like to see Romero and Gonsalves moved out of AA soon. I know it's not killing them to keep them there but at the same time, they seem to have figured out that level. Let's see them in AAA or (in Romero's case) our bullpen. I wonder if Garver has some modest trade value - looking at what Buetera and Herrmann got, I think catchers are worth more than we do. If we're going to keep Giminez, why not move Garver for a AA future Mejia? Or move Giminez and bring up Garver.
  17. I have a friend who is an international scout for the Royals. He actually scouted Whitefield and wanted to sign him although it didn't go anywhere. He said we got a "good player" and that he was a steal for us.
  18. That's not an unreasonable position. I guess I'm not as worried but if the brass was worried about it, fine.
  19. Liriano was a sept call up but spent the first six weeks of 2006 in the pen as well. Perkins spent nearly all of 07 in the pen (i think he was on the DL as well) Santana wasn't a fulltime starter until his third season with the ML team. The point is that the Twins have certainly used the bullpen as an introductory method for young pitchers before.
  20. We did it with Santana, Liriano and Perkins (among others). There's nothing overly risky about getting him some BP time in the majors. He'd get to face ML quality hitters in limited situations, building up confidence, while learning to play in the majors. He seems to be able to handle AA pitchers. Over his last ten starts - 55 innings - he has a 1.46 era and 60 strike outs v 20 walks. Move him.
  21. Nice start by Romero. I think he's done enough of these five inning starts in AA. Just move him to AAA or bring him up to our pen now and let him finish the year up here and hopefully we can plug him into a rotation spot next spring.
  22. I've mentioned this before but I really loved last years picks of Miranda and Baddoo back to back. Really young guys (both were 17 on draft day) but already had solid tools. Both added some muscle per Bob this offseason. They are a long way off but there's a lot to be excited about for both of them.
