  1. I won't condemn the pick but a 5'8" shortstop? I'd pass.
  2. I think we have to remember a few things. First, Falvey and co reviewed our scouts write ups on many players over the last decade of drafting before this draft and apparently they trusted them enough to go with Lewis - the scouts guy - over the analytics guy - McKay. So this idea that the Twins scouts suck doesn't really hold up. Klaw has been pretty positive about them for years as well. I do think changing the draft guru from Deron Johnson to Scott Johnson can be pretty effective b/c it'll change the scope of what we're trying to do (less focus on fastballs), I suspect our scouting reports on players has always been pretty good.
  3. Dude, stop trying to calm me down. I got angst and your thoughtful prose is killing it.
  4. I remember that movie, I was swooning more over Julia Ormond though
  5. So, my assumption was that Lewis and McKay were being played off of each other for the savings and the Twins went with Lewis. But just a few minutes after we drafted Lewis, Jon Heyman - a mouthpiece for Boras - said the Twins won't be saving money on the pick since he's the best position player since Bryant. So maybe the answer is Boras is screwing the Twins. "You told us you'd consider taking 6m!" "Yes, and now we're down considering it and we'll sign for 6.7m." I dunno. That at least makes sense.
  6. If they draft Burns to start off the third and get Enlow in the 11th round and sign him, this draft starts to look a little better.
  7. I did want a college pitcher over Lewis but that is partly me being wrong and drafting for need. Lewis seems to be a pretty good prospect so ... still, I don't like bring Boras into our clubhouse.
  8. But three underslot deals to start the draft? The good players will be gone by the time we start offering them money.
  9. Well, I'm glad you're happy b/c you probably know more than I do. But why pass on Carlson or Canning? Or Enlow? I mean, Leach seems like a third rounder (although I like that he's Canadian and only 17) so why not take him in the 3rd round and use our picks for higher guys? We'll see how this plays out tomorrow but I'm concerned.
  10. Well, clearly the Twins FO and scouts know stuff I don't know. It seems like both Rooker and Leach are small reaches for 35/37 so we're saving money. But I'm not sure where we're going to spend it.
  11. Leach? WTF? I guess we are using the savings to draft in rounds 11+.
  12. I wasn't as high on Rooker as others but I'm ok with him. But I really want a few pitchers.
  13. Enlow, Canning, Carlson, Crowe, Danner - I'd be ok with any of them.
  14. Fair enough. I'm not trying to condemn the guy, just remembering what I heard.
  15. Gonsalves fell for character issues, at least in part. I'm pretty sure we've had a few others but can't remember them off hand. But, yeah, generally Ryan had a clean organization as part of the goal.
