    I admit that Garver's break out has made me more optimistic on Jeffers.

    Silly but nice to think about in winter. Premise is the genie grants your wish but you have to give up something that's pretty rough, too. So, the Twins would have postseason success against the Yankees (Yay!) but they never get Target Field. They play in the Dome for another 20 years. I think it's a no-brainer myself. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28107465/the-mlb-genie-one-wish-fans-all-30-teams-catch Some of these (White Sox) are pretty tough choices but I don't think the Twins was a particularly tough choice.

    I think we'll hold our top two prospects but think we'll make a big trade involving one or two guys in our top 10 lists.

    Yeah, he had pretty good coverage on one of those catches but he's just not having a good year. I have no idea why. I don't think he's too old or slow. But if I could fix these things, I'd be much richer.

    Prospect ranking season is always fun. One critique, the font you use isn't great. Makes the webpage hard to read. On the rankings, I'd have Rortvedt in the top 15. Blankenhorn also seems low. But these are quibbles. Nice job!

    Impressed with Cousins. Defense was ugly early. This game seemed like we were out coached - especially on defense. A QB in his second game? Maybe we should try to hide coverages better or some exotic blitz packages. Also didn't like us taking time outs during the other teams two minute drill. But we won, so, yay!

    Man, a Minnesota football team hosed by their kicking game. That never happens. In all honesty, getting the ball with a chance at the end of the game was about all we could hope for from this game. Left a lot of points on the field. We should have won, which is nice to say about the Gophers football team.

    Obviously, it depends on the cost. His lack of control and low K-rate in the NL concerns me a lot. He was never seen as a top prospect - peaking at about 70 on top 100 lists. MLBpipeline, a year ago, wrote: "Alcantara's control and command both leave much to be desired, but as he keeps adding velocity, he's still learning to harness his stuff. While pinpoint command won't be ever be necessary given his dynamic repertoire, he'll need to pitch down in the zone consistently to be effective as a starter. At the least, Alcantara has the weapons to become a dominant closer at the highest level." On the plus side, he did throw nearly 200 innings last year and looks like his floor would still make him a valuable cog in a bullpen rotation. I'd be comfortable moving a package around Javier (although that might be selling low on him). I'm not sure what Miami needs/wants but the Twins have a lot of 45-50 FV talent in the system and it makes sense to move some now.

    I honestly think the suspension is too long and it's another example of the NFL putting PR first. And it's pretty crappy that the white QB who kicked him in the groin first isn't getting suspended.

    Under. To look at John's numbers and where the under comes in - +18M for Odo Well, this happened. Durable but not really an innings eater. + 20M for another top five pitcher (assuming it won't be Strassburg or Cole) +10M for yet another starting pitcher 30m for two pitchers. I don't think that happens at all. Basically, I think we'll spend about 15m on two more pitchers in the Ivan Nova or Drew Pomeranz bucket. Nova was a surprisingly effective starter in Chicago last year. 2 WAR and nearly 200 innings. Can't strike anyone out. And Pomeranz can do the starter/bullpen shuffle if need be and is a year removed from a 4 WAR season in Boston. I think we 'll be linked to guys like Wheeler, Kuechel and Ryu and what not but end up in the lower bins hoping for some upside. It worked with Pineda. And Pomeranz and Nova are better than Perez. +15M for some other players: Cron, a backup catcher, maybe a reliever Maybe about this on Cron, Castro replacement and some bullpen arms but I'd bet this bucket is closer to 10m. So I think our payroll will be in the 110-115m range rather than the 130m range. We might also see some extensions - presumably Berrios but maybe Odorizzi as well - before spring training. I could see us adding some big pen arms - Chris Martin? Steve Chisek? - and trying to adopt a Rays strategy as well.

    I really hate that we still have cable but we're in rural MN so to get internet for our home, it's cheapest to bundle with cable TV from Spectrum (the most hated company in America!) So we have netflix and Dis+, although we got Dis+ at a discount from Disney and prepaid for it already so it's not really a monthly expense anymore. I'm trying to price alternatives to having cable but haven't found one that is substantially cheaper yet.

    I'm not surprised he took the QO. I think it's a bet on himself play and it makes sense. Plus 18m is a lot of money. He doesn't have to worry about being locked out like Kuechel was last year.

    When I was younger, the awards bothered me more. But as I've grown older, I really don't get the concern. The BBWAA should give away awards if they want to do so. I don't care. Verlander and Cole both had a great year. So did Santana in 05. Not having an award doesn't change that. There is so much to stress about, I wouldn't waste time with who wins an award from a group.

    We have Disney+ and it's pretty good. Lots of fun nostalgic things - my kids now love Spider Man and his Amazing Friends! I really like the Mandalorian. Deep library of movies as well. I was going to post in the stock market thread but Disney Stock has had a nice week.

    Depends on the deal but we have four open spots and we need to fill them. He could fill one.

    I don't think it'll overly hurt the game too much. The game is insanely popular and has huge revenues. The owners need to share it with the players. Baseball's biggest problem is that it's becoming regionalized. Fans don't care as much about other teams/rivalries as they used to. That's a bigger problem.

    Solid enough win. I'm starting to worry a lot about the secondary but other than that ... Still looks like a 10-6 wildcard team with a puncher's chance against anyone but not likely to win three road playoff games. Catching GB is going to be hard but is possible. The KC loss (and the BS Packers game) will haunt us this season if we don't.

    Believe it when it happens. I think we're much more likely to go with a bullpen rotation and payroll similar to last year.
