    That's what I thought, but the replay made it clear that the ball took a very funny, low hop. Could have made the play, but could also have let it go by and I wouldn't have blamed him. He's not Brooks Robinson.

    The way Arraez hits, it is as though there are fewer fielders out there than for any other batters. Eight fielders cannot cover all of fair territory, but with some hitters you would think they could. Not our Luis! There ARE gaps, and he will find them!

    I think it's 1:10 MST. Arizona stays on ST in the summer and is thus the same time as California next door. It's 1:10 here in Portland...

    I didn't watch the game last night. When I woke up this morning and saw 8 IP for Bundy, the only explanation that seemed possible is that Rocco went to sleep in the 4th, then woke up after 8 and told his coaches something to the effect of "Good golly! How did you let that happen? Is Bundy still alive? No doubt we'll have to put him on the IL now."

    After last summer's heat in Portland, we finally had a heat pump installed last week. First time with central air here in 34 years. Of course, today it's heating, not cooling, with the high not quite making 60 outside...

    Batting Buxton at the top of the order does not maximize the productivity of his at-bats, given the kind of hitter he has become. Too many solo homeruns because the bottom guys aren't on base.

    Thanks for this! There are so many TD photos that do not tell us who is in the picture, especially when it is a minor-leaguer whom most of us have never seen.

    I know it's just a throw-away introductory remark that is not the point of the story, but I'm denying this. He's hitting a lot of homeruns, yes. But MVP? He's batting .233 with an OBP of .317 hitting at the top of the order. He's striking out 26.6% of the time and walking only 8.5%. He had an 0-for-30 spell where he was the least valuable player in the league for more than a week. Injury-related or not, his famed speed is not providing much to the team as he doesn't beat out infield hits or steal bases anymore. That record wouldn't get an MVP vote from me unless he hit 100 homeruns and drove in 250 runs. It's more empty slugger much of the time this year than consistently valuable player.

    I have to miss most of this one. Today is the belated graduation ceremony for our 2020 seniors. Maybe more fun for them to get back together after 2 years than another event just 2 days after finals. Well over half have returned from around the world to participate. Least I can do to show up and support them! Many good friends in the group. Get those Twins going. Maybe Sands has a break-out game? Good luck!

    Gordon looked distracted from the start. First by the leaping runner, then he looked to third (why?), then sped up the throw to first.
