  1. That's what we were trying to do last week, but failed (twice). Nice clutch win.
  2. I just get back from a lovely cheese tasting and turn on the game. I'm losing my appetite!
  3. Somehow, I feel like this team is more comfortable challenging from the outside. Let the Angels get ahead and maybe they will react and get back to winning ways.
  4. Tampa Rayses sing this song, Duda, Duda?
  5. There are now 7 Twins with double figures in homeruns, and 3 with 20+. (And Vargas seems likely to get one more to make 8 in doubles.)
  6. Are the Royals wearing white socks tonight? Polanco is acting like they are.
  7. An inch would have been enough this week!
  8. I agree, but good heavens they're not as bad as the Star Wars night duds (in both senses of the word) that they wore this year!
  9. The broadcasters commented on this. I wonder if Stew Thornley has any insight on the question.
  10. When Bartolo is taken out, does that count as "pulled pork"?
  11. It looked to me like Buxton jumped too early on that fly at the wall. It seemed like the ball hit the wall below where his glove was. Did it look like that to you?
  12. Back to Little League, I see. Between Polanco's 3rd strike and Shields's throw. Oof-dah. EDIT: And ball one to Buxton.
  13. I have the same reaction. I went to a lot of Portland Beavers games in those days and remember Brito launching balls over the "blue monster" at Civic Stadium and into the street behind the left-field stands. But I don't remember Russo at all. That was the last year of the Beavers in Portland and attendance (never good) was pathetic. There were often about 100 people in the stands, a good share of them scouts planted behind home plate with their radar guns. You could actually hear whatever any fan shouted at the players, which was sometimes amusing and occasionally embarrassing. I might have attended fewer games that year as we knew that the lame-duck team was moving to Utah the next season.
  14. It seems like it could, since it means the same thing. If you're winning to admit sentences without verbs, you could probably reduce that to "I." As in "Who's rooting for the Twins tonight?" "I!"
  15. This is great stuff! I love your contributions!
  16. Of course. Sir John Hicks was one of the most influential English economists of the mid-20th century!
  17. Between Buxton's catch and that one by Kepler, all that's missing is Eddie going over the wall to rob the homerun. (Maybe he'll get another chance in the 9th.)
  18. TV graphic says Eddie's OBP > .400 over last 49 games. That's an impressive improvement.
  19. Good wine is a culinary, as well as a social, delight. It's what I drink for dinner, with or without companionship.
  20. Not that bad, but he just turned the wrong way. But the recovery was sure fun to watch! I'm glad he plays for us!
  21. And Upton doesn't jump to rob Eddie of a home run. Maybe they have some kind of deal... EDIT: Maybe ... maybe ... Eddie's was out of reach anyway. But he sure didn't try.
