    The most important read on the site, once again. Sigh. I hope Chattanooga falls out of the race, so they promote some players to AAA. An odd hope, but it is my hope.

    couldn't disagree more. Berrios learns nothing by staying in that game. complete games are meaningless to development, and probably bad for players' arms in the long run.

    Let's hope they do something this off season to help the team long term, or even short term, more than sign Castro, Gimenez, Belisle and Breslow....

    You/d think at some point that people wouldn't keep putting up the strawman that anyone expected the pitching to be totally fixed, and instead talk about adding 1 SP and 1-2 legit RPs, like chief, me, and others keep typing. Is there anyone here arguing they could fix it all in 1 year? Indeed, if you can't fix it in 1 year, you'd think you would then have to make incremental progress every year. What progress did the Twins make for 2018 this last off season?

    agreed, not easy. And, hard to make trades in their situation. The list isn't awesome this year either, should they sit out again? Or, should they outbid the big clubs for the 2-3 good ones?

    add 1 legit SP and 1-2 legit RPs....no one said do the impossible, chief and others are asking why not even do that, to the worst pitching the league? Seriously. He's not saying any such thing you are asking.

    so what? And really, adding 1-2 RP that weren't named Breslow would have been nice. I think almost every poster said add 1-2 legit RPs, even those of us that want young guys to get a chance.

    No, they don't have a lot of tough 40 man decisions. I just don't buy that for one minute. Almost no player of value has been found in the rule V draft since MLB changed the rules. They lost at least 5 guys on the 25 man roster right now, and there are some easy choices to drop off the 40 man. Not even close to hard decisions.

    Well, their number 5 pitchers have put up negative WAR. Had they added a 2 WAR SP in FA, that would be worth 4-6 wins over this season. 4 more wins right now puts them near the WC. Add 1 good RP, and you added 1-2 more wins this year over Breslow and others that should not have been here. So, we'll just disagree that counting on Hughes, May, Santiago, Gibson was a good idea. To say they could sign 1 SP is unrealistic is an exaggeration at best.

    No one said fix the whole thing in 1 year. They are saying, add 1 SP. No one is saying there is a quick fix. No one is saying it is easy. All of that is straw man, all of it. How do you improveit next year, if you aren't willing to sign 1 SP, unless that fixes the whole thing?

    I just don't see them calling him up now, and then sitting him for 1/2 of next year. I'm willing to be wrong, I don't know, but I don't see it.

    Every year people say the decisions will be hard, and every year almost no one of meaning is taken. Since MLB changed the rules, almost no one of value has been taken across all of MLB in rule V. that said: 100% Thorpe and Stewart are protected. 100%. Thorpe and Stewart might be ready to be a MLB starter next year at some point.
