  1. Name one poster that does that. No one defends him like the haters post mean spirited things. No one.
  2. Twins were 12th best at not swinging at pitches outside the zone, and 12 best in swinging and not missing.....
  3. If you finish with the record most predicted, you pretty much met expectations. That's the definition of meeting expectations. No place did I say or imply anything else. Not even a little. I have no idea if he should be retained, I was merely pointing out that they met expectations.
  4. How many playoff appearances has Maddon had with LA? Perhaps it was the FO in TB and Chicago?
  5. This. So many fans here just hate on him (those fans probably loved him the first two years). The kinds of things people say are just mean spirited.....especially on this site.
  6. They pretty much finished where non-fans projected them to this year. I'm not sure how they underachieved. And that was with assuming they wouldn't lose their top 5 outfielders all at the same time for most of the second half of the year.
  7. The Atlanta team bunted 4 times this year.........Bunting is dying for good reasons. I do agree, their fast players (um, who are those?) should try to steal more. I'm hopeful Lewis and Martin are up at some point next year, and that number jumps. But, they have zero infielders that should be trying, and once Buxton was out, which OF did you want to try to steal more often?
  8. Every word of this makes sense to me. I'm predicting Philly, SF, Boston, MN in that order of likelihood.
  9. I'll be SHOCKED if they protect Smeltzer. Flabbergasted even. But then, Pagan is on this roster, after THREE YEARS OF BEING AWFUL, so, um, who knows.
  10. I can't see them DFAing Pagan, alas. I also see no reason to protect Urbina. What club will keep in the majors all year?
  11. Meh, I don't care if he talks like that, or in cliches. I don't listen to that kind of talk at all anymore. It just doesn't interest me. The games and the outcomes and the plays interest me. And for that, people should want him in MN.
  12. You watch every game in all of baseball? Write down every play, and compare every player?
  13. I think I keep him. But I wouldn't be angry if they didn't. I think either decision is defensible. He's Kepler, but at third. Interestingly, everyone seems to want to do the opposite with those two.
  14. It doesn't have to go into every celebration thread. That's like going to a wedding and pointing out everything wrong with the couple. Given they posted here, it is clear they didn't completely jump ship. This site is a cesspool right now, frankly. Every single thread.
  15. there is ZERO obligation to look at reality and occasionally enjoy life.
  16. Hey look, we aren't supposed to be happy in a celebration thread! If we can't be happy that Gordon went from "bust" to slightly above average, I don't know what should make us happy.
  17. They literally won the division twice. I don't agree there is any culture of losing. We are going to disagree on that. As for accountability.....how is it Rocco's fault they had 1 starting pitcher last year, and he was traded at the deadline? The FO? They might have issues, but no way that's on Rocco.
  18. Blame, fault, those are not great ways to judge the world. Sometimes stuff happens.
  19. Which minor league pitcher was good at all, or went somewhere else and was good? NONE OF THEM. Not one starter other than Wells. That was it. Gibson was awful his last year here. That left Berrios. That's it. People complain they haven't got any young starters other than Ryan (and Varland and Ober)....but who of those other than Wells is a good starter at all? None of them. I can't believe anyone is arguing they inherited anything other than a cluster, given teams need 8 starters a year.
  20. If we can't be happy unless they win a WS, good luck to us all. That's just not my measuring stick, good on you if it is.
