  1. Given Buxton's healthy (and Larnarch and AK), I'd move him to CF right now. He can backup all the OF spots. They don't need more middle infielders at this point (and if they do because CC is gone and Lewis and Gordon and Arraez and Polanco are hurt, the season isn't going to go well anyway).
  2. Other than AK and Buxton, none of those were likely to be hurt this year. I have no idea if they'll be healthy or not, but they lost Buxton, Larnarch, Kiriloff, Kepler (played hurt too much), Lewis all at the same time. No one said that core was good enough to go head to head, I said that's why the ranking is down. All of those were top 5 for the team at the beginning of the year, that's going to hurt the ranking. I'm not sure what an AL title has to do with winning during the year at all. Fans come if the team is good and entertaining. The ones that matter to how many don't care about AL titles.
  3. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/twins I believe the answer is yes. So, sure, why not (other than ending on a high note)?
  4. Arraez is seriously contending for a batting title this year. Lewis or Martin will/can steal 20 bases if they want to do that. Wallner could hit 30 home runs in a year. That's without me even thinking for a second about anyone else. The farm system ranking reflects that the following top players aren't in the farm anymore: Miranda, Arraez, Ryan, Duran, Jax, Larncach, Jeffers, Kiriloff (even Gordon), Ober. Then there is Varland, that the systems rate lower than a likely 4/5. The last two years are a real downer. But anyone that thinks a team can contend when they play half the year w/o their top 5 outfielders, one of whom is their best player, is likely to be disappointed. Fans only care about winning. Whether it is this front office or not. Eventually they'll start winning, then the fans will be back.
  5. If he can play CF when Buxton can't, the bat is not an issue......Even in RF, he's around league average when you factor in defense and offense. He's not great, but he's not bad. He's "just" an average RF. If Miami wants him as part of a package for Lopez, there is no issue sending him off, imo. If not, I doubt he's got much trade value with only 1 year left on his deal. I'm assuming Wallner will eventually be a good RF for this team, though he may struggle a bit to start next year.
  6. Their top four OFers we're hurt. How much depth do you expect a team to have? Kiriloff, Larnach, Buxton, Kepler. Also, Lewis, who was part of the plan as a backup. So, five. Expecting them to have more planned than that is setting yourself up for disappointment. How many MLB regular OFers do you want in AAA on the forty man roster? They got more than 2 war from Gordon as mostly an OFer.... And Wallner may be for real. That doesn't count Celestino, who is still young.
  7. Not sure how to answer, as I lived the show. But it does get more into the story as episodes go on. But it's a think piece show.....
  8. More negative comments than positive ones in a celebration thread. This site never disappoints. These guys all had great years. The depth in the minors had never been better than it will be next year. Varland was great this year, and he and SWR will start games in Minnesota next year for sure. Congratulations to him and all the rest.
  9. Wallner looks legit. That would be huge for this team, imo. Juliene can clearly hit, let's hope they find a no position for him. I have no idea on the other two, but if they can catch even in a backup role, that would be great.
  10. All of 46 are sitting on that mark across MLB right now. That stat clearly isn't useful at this point.
  11. I've been trying to figure out what I'd do for some time (assuming he opts out). 1. Extend CC. I just don't see them doing that. They have Lewis and Lee ready by middle of next year, and they can sign a legit player at another position for less. (who/what position, unsure). 2. The real question, imo, is the timeline for Lewis' return. If he's projected back "early", I'm ok with Palacios/Gordon as placeholders. Early is May 1 or earlier. If he's projected back later than that, I try to sign a SS. Maybe even one of the expensive ones. I don't see THAT happening, but it is possible. I haven't checked the non-expensive list yet.
  12. Celebration thread. Sigh. Ok, look it up if you want to comment on it.
  13. You don't seem to be arguing the point at all. They didn't trade berrios until they were out of it in 21. Who says they weren't trying to be competitive this year? They didn't trade any veterans away at the deadline, which is the point. I am baffled at this reply.
  14. The Yankees can also just buy great players if needed. That context seems important.
  15. Perhaps that was my point. Kiriloff if healthy. Arraez ( not that young) or Martin or Gordon at second. Lewis at short. Miranda at third. Wallner and Larnach have looked legit. I'm not sure your point at all, frankly. What was your point? Mine was they have graduated a lot of top ranked rookies lately, which is why the farm ranking is dropping. What was your point?
  16. By graduation almost entirely. But not gutted, no. If they wanted, their entire infield could be rookies or second year players next year. Plus Wallner and Larnach in the outfield. The pitching staff could be sixty percent second year players in the starters. I think it's graduation that is effecting the ranking.
  17. The farm system isn't close to gutted. Not even a little. I think that last sentence indicates that you don't agree that risk is real, frankly. Of course the fans want a good team, so does the FO and ownership. Sometimes you take chances and they don't work. They spent weeks/months playing their 5-9th best OFers, often all three at once.
  18. I doubt they were suggesting a 1:`1 trade......
  19. He looks like he might be legit. We can hope so.
  20. I still think an auction system is the best idea, with the worst teams getting advantages. Never going to happen though
  21. But they didn't. So, given that, should they have done nothing? I mean, that's a completely different discussion....
  22. Imagine if they had done nothing! Paddock is different than Mahle, as they paid very little for him because of the risk. People seem to forget that
  23. The last two episodes of House of the Dragon were so much better than the first three, I can't believe it's the same show.
