To be clear, you aren't awful! I just don't think we every know what's going on in these player's minds, and I'll never question their commitment. They play in pain so much, they give so much, questions seem off to me.
123 pitches in his last start, and more to come.... I've moved to nervous about skenes, but I'd take him or dollander, though if they can't get skenes, I'm hoping the HS CF falls to five.
I'm curious, where would you put five more infielders on the forty man? Did you not want them to add at the deadline last year? Not sign Buxton? Not sign CC?
I'd bet good money if they eat most/all of his salary, they can get a low A type or a recent international signee (at least).
I'd like Larnach in left and Wallner in right at this point (when Trevor is healthy). Trust the pitchers, get some hitting.
Ya, I really should have just said 2B in that post. I have no idea if Severino is good or bad at 2B, I guess I could look (but he can't be as bad as Julien).
The one thing I'd do for sure at this point is move on from Kepler. Deal him for some minor league pitcher that might turn into a RP someday. (the other things I'd do are unrealistic)
Agreed. Lee is your 3B of the future, if Lewis can move to CF. I had hoped we'd get Lewis in CF this year, but that looks unlikely at this point. It's too bad, because it looks like Buxton isn't going back there any time soon.
Salas or Severino are also possibilities at SS or 2B, in addition to Julien (no way I'd play him in the field if I could avoid it).
Ah, got it.
Ya, the game is littered with these kinds of stories, players that have a bit of luck....players that multiple teams move on from, but then have success (even long term). Players that aren't the center piece of a trade, but that turn out great.
