  1. Plays like these are why I want to sell Castro at the deadline
  2. Is Correa going on the IL? He'd be eligible to return for the Dodgers series and would only miss 5 games.
  3. He's a sex offender. I did some dumb stuff when I was younger, but I managed to grow up without becoming a sex offender.
  4. Pulling Skenes after 5 innings is just proof that Pittsburgh is tanking.
  5. Does that mean the front office will have to work over the trade deadline? That's the best week to go to the lake.
  6. Yesavage has some high upside. That would be hard to turn down for a reliever.
  7. This is worth tracking as the season progresses. Thanks for giving me something to root for.
  8. I believe he was signed as a minor league free agent this past offseason. In that respect, he's already been released once by the Twins and brought back as a "project". The odds of success for a prospect who reaches minor league free agency (seven seasons in the minors without being added to a 40-man roster) are not good.
  9. In the near-term they need to win 9 of their next 15 games just to reach .500 by the trade deadline.
  10. Misiewicz is less interesting than Funderburk. This does give Travis Adams an opportunity to stick around after Zebby Matthews returns.
  11. What's the upside on Eeles? Below average second baseman? That's the kind of player you use when they're cheap and non-tender in their 2nd arb year.
  12. Joe Ryan's first year of arbitration was $3M. Raises are rarely more than double. Zac Gallen got CYA votes in three different seasons and his arb pay has been $5M/$10M/$13.5M. Do the Twins really need to cut loose multiple players so they can afford to pay Joe Ryan $7M next season and $14M the season after that?
  13. Painter, Miller and Tait sounds like a good start. Throw in Abel or Chace and we have a deal. Ryan has more surplus value than Santana did when the Twins traded him.
  14. I would vote no on all of them except Gossage. Billy Wagner as a Hall of Famer while Johan Santana can't get 5% of the vote is a sick joke. Santana was at least twice as valuable as Wagner. Maybe if Santana had pitched less effectively he could have stayed in the bullpen and made it to the Hall of Fame.
  15. Stewart has a long history of injury. He might pitch until the end of his team control and he might throw the last pitch of his career before the season ends.
  16. Keirsey can't hit a lick. A corner OF gets a difficult fielding chance once every 18-20 innings (which means Keirsey does something useful less than once a month) but gets 4 at-bats every 9 innings. Austin Martin should be able to play outfield as well as Larnach and hit lefties better than Larnach.
  17. Sounds like there's a bigger role for Austin Martin on this team than there is for Dashawn Keirsey.
  18. Sports Illustrated (or the zombie remainders of that magazine) is reporting (quoting the Athletic) that other teams have shifted scouts to follow the Twins in preparation of the trade deadline.
  19. Relievers are a not a position just like "slot receiver", "nickel back" or "long snapper" are a not a position. The position on the field is pitcher, just like the positions for football are wide receiver, cornerback and center.
  20. I would leave all the relievers off the All-Star Game roster if I had a choice. None of them are in the top 30 for pitcher WAR.
  21. 4 games under .500 and 8th in the wild card race is underwater, not treading water.
  22. Gonzalez, Morris, Prielipp and CJ Culpepper are most likely. There are more guys who will be exposed than just those 15, but they're even less likely to be selected. Winkel, Holland, Prato, Morales, Baker, Canterino at AAA Baez, Cossetti, Rucker, Cespedes, Salas, Ross, Ortega, Kalai Rosario, Fedko, Kyle Jones, Paredes, Stankiewicz at AA DeAndrade, Doncon, Urbina, Olivares, Hidalgo, Chaney at Cedar Rapids A
