    I am assuming one of Ryan, Lopez and Ober gets traded. I am guessing it will be Ryan because he will return the most in trade. They probably want to keep Ober and see if he has more value at the 2026 trade deadline. Lopez will stay because they don't need to dump any more salary and they do need a veteran in the rotation. As usual, when figuring out the rotation, start with options. Simeon Woods Richardson is out of options next season, so he is a lock for the rotation. Festa, Abel and Matthews will each have 2 options and Bradley will have one. That gives Bradley the next spot. They need 8 starters, so I don't see Festa, Abel or Matthews moved to the bullpen. I think they will fill the bullpen with minor league free agents like Blewett. Morris, Raya, Rojas, Prielipp and CJ Culpepper will all start the season optioned to the minors.

    Kyle Farmer seems like a good comp for Brooks Lee.

    I would be fine with picking Santana up for the remainder of the season. They need better defense to support these young pitchers.

    I believe they gain a year of service time if they option Matthews. I expect Matthews to get optioned for SWR.

    Julien is just as bad at 1B as he is at 2B. A good 1B gets that throw off the bounce, the hop wasn't that difficult. I don't see him returning next season. He's a platoon DH and that isn't good enough to earn a roster spot for most MLB teams.

    It is really difficult to see Outman earning a roster spot with this team next spring and he's out of options. Over 2024-25 he has a .520 OPS and 87K in 232PA (37.5% strikeouts). 14 K in 32 PA for the Twins (43.75%). He is whiffing more than half the time against breaking and offspeed pitches. I know they were trading an injured pitcher, but Outman is such a bad return to get back in trade, especially considering the timetable when this team is trying to compete.

    For their new teams, it's actually Pitcher Name ERA WHIP IP Jhoan Duran 1.17 0.77 7.2 (excellent) Griffin Jax 8.59 1.636 7.1 (horrible) Danny Coulombe 4.50 1.375 8.0 (mediocre) Brock Stewart 4.91 2.18 3.2 (bad, then out injured) Louis Varland 5.59 1.552 9.2 (bad) The Twins have leaned pretty heavily on Sands and Topa and both have pitched pretty well. Hatch has also done good work. Erasmo Ramirez was effective (somehow) for 11 innings. The only pitcher they've missed is Duran and I don't think they want to hit the "undo" button on that trade.

    Interesting possible free agents 1B - Luis Arraez - is he actually going to get paid or is he going to be valued like Ty France? 1B - Miguel Andujar - could be that veteran pickup who gets dealt at the deadline SS - Isaiah Kiner-Falefa - the young pitchers could use a strong defense behind them.

    I would like to see how a fully healed Keaschall defends. Right now, his arm might not be good enough for 2B.

    I wish they would emphasize defense a little more. Putting Gasper in to catch and Julien at 1B isn't helping any of our pitchers.

    I'm thrilled for him that he's going to get 43 days on a roster to get a pension and health benefits.

    Both C and 1B are wide open for the foreseeable future. The Twins have cash available. They need to extend Jeffers this offseason. 3 years, $40M could get it done. I wouldn't give Vazquez more than $1M to return.

    The problem is you're comparing him to the other Twins, who are one of the worst offenses in baseball.

    They're pretty much guaranteed to keep trying out bad relief pitchers for the rest of the season. The next 6 weeks are open tryouts for bad players. I'm actually surprised at how people are still upset when the Twins lose. Twins fans need to lower their expectations a LOT for the remainder of 2025. You're watching a bad baseball team. Don't let it affect your blood pressure.

    Seems odd to pile on Matt Wallner in a game where he was the only offense. He even made a nice running catch in RF. Good game, Matt. Several posters here seem to be obsessed with Matt and feel the need to point out every mistake he makes. It's kind of creepy.

    AAA might start 2026 with Emmanuel Rodriguez, Walker Jenkins and Gabriel Gonzalez in the outfield. I expect MLB will have Buxton, Wallner, Roden, Martin and Outman. Not that difficult to gain a spot with that competition.

    I guarantee many of the players on the Twins right now are thrilled that they aren't stuck in AAA anymore. I haven't seen any signs of dissatisfaction from Wallner, Buxton or Jeffers. Joe Ryan might be the one player who is irritated he's still on the team, but he seems like a pretty laid-back dude.
