    He’s not explaining it clearly, but he’s only interested in using minor league walk rate to predict future MLB performance. A really high walk rate can mean the batter is unable to make solid contact and fouls off pitches until they get the walk. That approach won’t play in MLB.     I don’t know why a pitcher would throw Royce Lewis a strike right now. His zone recognition is non-existent.

    Clemens, Lee, Gray, Outman, Kreidler. They have five utility players on the roster.

    80 is as far below average as 120 is above average. Caratini is a catcher, those guys are typically below average. If Outman is a below average defender then I have no idea why he is on the team. His role is defensive replacement and pinch runner.

    Maybe, just maybe, it is a lot easier to hit in AAA than in the major leagues. Arcia is likely to give the Twins below average performance at the plate and in the field. I thought this article was going to be about Bowman when I read the headline. Bowman has a 1.69 ERA in a hitters league with good strikeout and walk numbers.

    If it had been reviewed it would have been upheld. Royce blocked the base with his foot before he had the ball. That’s obstruction. What happens after doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if he tags the runner out before he makes contact with his foot. The obstruction already happened.

    “Until the umpires conspired and sent the runner home on an obstruction call, believing that Lewis had blocked the bag with his foot in an unfair manner” Fairness doesn’t enter into obstruction and neither does intent. If you block the base without the ball, you are obstructing. What I don’t like about the rule is awarding an extra base. I think the runner should be safe at the base they were attempting, not given an additional base
