  1. According to posters here, every minor league player should get promoted every time they have a 2-hit game and demoted every time they make a mistake.
  2. I kind of wish now that they had given Noah Davis jersey number 39.
  3. Dashawn Keirsey makes Austin Martin look like an All-Star. Maybe that's the reason. I think Martin's upside is 4th OF but with all the LH bat, marginal-defense corner outfielders in the system between MLB and AA there seems to be a spot for that. He has an OPS below 700 but it's OBP-heavy which is much more useful than if he hit .190 with an occasional HR. The key is he needs to be able to use his speed to produce actual range in the outfield. His glove will determine whether he can hold a spot on a major league roster.
  4. Be careful what you ask for. You want a trade? Enjoy spending August in Florida at a minor league park.
  5. I see it differently. The choices they have for the last roster spot is mainly players who kinda suck. They could either a) fill the last spots with veterans who suck but benching them doesn't hurt their development b) fill the last spots with rookies who suck, benching them DOES hurt their development Option b also burns service time, so you get less time from those players in later seasons when they're actually good. I am not bothered at all that Mickey Gasper, Dashawn Keirsey and Ryan Fitzgerald are taking up spots on the MLB bench while Aaron Sabato, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Payton Eeles play every day in St. Paul. Sabato, Rodriguez and Eeles are sufficiently challenged at that level.
  6. Some of these players have less than 3 years experience because they kinda suck. Why do you want players who kinda suck to get more playing time?
  7. Martin’s bat has been adequate for a 4th OF role. His glove was the problem but he is athletic enough to improve defensively. Julien is just good enough to play for a bad team. He was best when Farmer was there to cover for his flaws. Miranda is more likely to play overseas than in MLB.
  8. Switch hitting is hard. He has two swings to maintain and different pitches to handle from each side.
  9. Culpepper probably won't start the season at SS. Lee isn't great at 2B, he's more of a 3B. Keaschall might be a 2B. Kody Clemens will still be around. Guessing they start 2026 with Lewis, Lee, Keaschall and Clemens.
  10. I'll take better defense at 2B and better hitting at 1B. They've been getting glove players for 1B and hitters for 2B.
  11. With Buxton out, Kody Clemens might be the best all-around ballplayer on the team.
  12. If another team had wanted Julien at the trade deadline, I'm pretty certain he would have been traded. You said yourself, he's an adequate hitter with no position. Are other teams looking to add adequate hitters with no position?
  13. He's still on his rehab, so he's actually gaining service time. He's also been pretty cold at the plate.
  14. I am expecting Matthews to be optioned at some point. If he’s in the minors 2 more weeks, the Twins gain a year of service time.
  15. I'm guessing you won't. Keaschall has a .238/.353/.238 line during his rehab. I think they'll option him, unless they want to preserve all of his options for 2026-2029.
  16. If you look at the Saints stats, the top hitters by OPS were: Mickey Gasper .915 Ed Julien .879 Noah Cardenas .877 Ryan Fitzgerald .837 Austin Martin .829 They're all up except Cardenas (because nobody in MLB wanted Christian Vazquez). Then there's Alan Roden with his .918 OPS in Buffalo. They didn't call up McCusker (.821), Sabato (.770) or Eeles (.717) because they didn't hit as well as Ryan Fitzgerald.
  17. With Gasper, he's barely spent a season in the Twins organization, which means the Yankees and Red Sox also don't teach bunting at any level in the minor leagues. I listened to the Cleveland broadcast on Sirius XM and their announcer (Hamilton?) was shocked at how bad Keirsey is at bunting. I thought Ohl did a pretty good job coming through when Rocco decided to have a slow hook for the first time in his managerial career. That may be part of the "Ohl is a 3-inning pitcher" directive from the front office.
  18. One, they are rewarded for losing the rest of this season. Two, they’re pretty confident they have enough pitching in the minors to put together another bullpen. That’s where Morris and Culpepper and Raya and Prielipp are most likely to contribute.
