So Sabato gets playing time and Keaschall gets benched. Why do you think this is so easy?
  2. DJL44
If Sabato plays DH he will be stealing playing time from Mendez. I suppose you could use both of them as a platoon DH but that seems like a waste of a roster spot.
  3. DJL44
To really give Sabato a shot, they would need to bench Royce Lewis. Likewise, Fedko would steal playing time from Austin Martin. That seems short sighted.

2028 is starting to feel optimistic for a turnaround. Their only method of acquiring major league players appears to be the waiver wire. They have squandered their trade value for a rebuild foolishly chasing 80 wins in 2026.

There are very few kids to bring up and let play. Culpepper and Mendez are the only players making a case for a promotion. Fedko and Sabato are not young - they look a lot more like the 28-year-old castoffs they pick up on waivers from other organizations. Roden, Rodriguez and Jenkins are dealing with injuries. Gonzalez has been struggling at the plate in an easy league to hit in. All the AAA pitching is up and Wichita is barren of talent.

Obviously I am honing my standup routine. Glad you are enjoying it.
  7. DJL44
Gray hits lefthanded, which means he can pinch hit for all the other infielders who hit right handed. I would cut Arcia, option Kreidler and bring up Culpepper and Roden.
  8. DJL44
You laughed at it, which makes me question your sense of humor.
  9. DJL44
I can’t imagine any team has a good record when they don’t score runs.
  10. DJL44
    What’s yours?
  11. DJL44
Royce Lewis in 5 games since returning .316/.381/.526
  12. DJL44
The Twins were able to maximize platoon advantages by using three shortstops to go 0 for 4.
  13. DJL44
How about Tyler Fitzgerald? He was a decent starter for the Giants in 2024 and was tearing up AAA before the Dodgers released him. He has adequate range at 2B and adds speed on the bases.
  14. DJL44
I agree. Don’t trade for another James Outman.
  15. DJL44
I would rather he pitches for the Twins next to prevent another bullpen game. Even if they hold him to 75 pitches, that’s more than they will get out of the bulk reliever.
  16. DJL44
I really hope he performs well. If he doesn’t he will eventually get non-tendered. If he performs well he is likely to get traded. He can play third base well enough to start there for a different team.
  17. DJL44
Fun game to watch. Bullpen was shaky but the wheels stayed on until the end.
  18. DJL44
It takes time and repetition. He has the athleticism to play second base. This might be the first time he actually has struggled to perform as an athlete. MLB is difficult and unforgiving.
  19. DJL44
So that level of production is exactly what they hired him for in the first place. If he keeps it up they will find another team willing to take on at least part of the contract.
  20. DJL44
I am not convinced “Resets at AAA” are useful. AAA is homerrific right now, more likely to encourage bad habits than to correct flaws.
  21. DJL44
This is a perfect, low-expectations time to break in a rookie. They have 3% odds to make the playoffs.
  22. DJL44
The problem with keeping Clemens is he’s 30 and likely to be out of the league by 2029. Plus he’s eligible for arbitration starting next year so he is a likely non-tender after 2027. Who wants to pay Clemens $4M in 2028?
  23. DJL44
He’s hitting .277/.306/.489 over the last two weeks. You usually DFA a player during a cold streak.
  24. DJL44
Is August and September enough time?
  25. DJL44
He’s not really blocking anyone except Wallner. FWIW, Bell reaches 10 years service time at game 109.
