    Royce just took Outman’s roster spot. Wallner has only recently started hitting.

    Relying on the Twins defense to turn batted balls into outs has not worked out well, especially with Buxton playing mostly at DH.

    Royce has been crushing pitchers who have no trouble getting Sabato out. Plus, Sabato has trouble fielding ground balls hit directly at him and can’t get to anything more than a step away.

    Kai-Wei Teng is having a good season for the Astros. He was signed by the Twins back in 2018. Luis Gil is probably the best international free agent pitcher they signed in two decades but he has done all his work for the Yankees.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if he could tell the difference between Goose and Geese.

    Bell runs hot and cold and he has an 835 OPS over the last week. DFA Arcia, option Kreidler. Call up Lewis and Culpepper. Arcia will end up back in St Paul.

    Arcia does not play good defense. He’s an old, slow player. His sprint speed is worse than Josh Bell.

    Royce is so much better at baseball than Sabato it is ridiculous.

    Their run scoring is just fine. They scored 6 runs last night. They’re at 4.6 runs per game, the same as Tampa Bay. The offense took a hit when Jeffers was hurt but it is still productive. The defense is giving up an extra run every game compared to an average defense. Fix that instead.

    What does that have to do with his defense? Royce has a lot more range than Josh Bell. This team has been using Josh Bell and Orlando Arcia regularly at first base. I would rather they used Royce Lewis there instead of those two guys. Sometimes I think the Venn Diagram between “call up Kyler Fedko, he’s mashing” and “keep Royce in AAA, he isn’t making adjustments” is a circle. It does counter the “send him to AAA for a reset” argument. The pitching isn’t good enough in AAA to help players work on their weaknesses.

    They have been running Josh Bell out there at 1B. Royce can’t do worse than that.

    Gomez has been dominant since the Twins picked him up off Tampa’s discard pile.

    Can Fedko produce more than Outman? Maybe. So what? It’s not that difficult to find someone better than Outman.

    Why would they want to get fewer innings from Joe Ryan? How are they going to cover the workload in the bullpen with one fewer pitcher?

    Don’t lump Jackson in with Caratini. Jackson has a pop time of 1.8 seconds (very good) versus 2.06 for Caratini (nearly the worst in MLB).

    Every single contending team can fit Jeffers into their roster. Demand will be high and supply is quite low. Someone will bet on Jeffers hitting bombs for their team in October.

    I think Jeffers could get 4 years, $50M as a free agent, but $3-5M less if he has a QO attached. $23M up front and a chance to go back on the market is going to be easy to accept. I don’t know why people would assume a salary cap and floor would increase free agent spending. The level of total spend proposed by MLB is lower than the current overall spend. We will see the teams above the cap scrambling to dump contracts on the teams below the minimum. That will swallow up nearly all of the available dollars. The lockout will keep teams from spending until the last minute. Next season could be the worst year ever for MLB free agents.

    $1 in 1965 has the same buying power as $11 today. I am pretty sure you can get a bleacher seat for most games for $11. They ran a 4 tickets for $25 deal recently. If you go on dollar dog night the hot dogs and the tickets are cheaper now than in 1965.
