  1. Falvey traded Varland for a player he thinks can replace Larnach and a starting pitcher prospect. The trades weren't for tanking. The roster they've chosen after the trades means they're tanking.
  2. They could slide back a few picks in the upcoming draft if they win too many games. There are 18 players on the 40-man who would be really easy to cut (I counted). They have about 7 guys who need to be added to avoid Rule 5.
  3. Those are new 40-man adds. I think that puts them at 37 total.
  4. Roden is supposed to be a decent outfielder and has played 1B for one inning in the minors. Making him the new starting 1B sounds like a Rocco move.
  5. Ober's next start should be in MN. That would be 26.
  6. Yes, along with Bradley and Abel. They're tanking and showcasing players for potential offseason trades.
  7. So, they traded Brock Stewart for someone they think is worse than Austin Martin? He came into the season with 1 year and 95 days of service. He has been on the Dodgers' roster for 27 games. There are 54 games left in the season. I think he needs to sit in AAA for 2 weeks for the Twins to gain control of him for 2030 (when he will be 33 years old). I don't think he'll last past his second year of arbitration on the roster, so I don't understand why that matters.
  8. The 2027 estimate is at least $30M too high. They are estimating escalating arbitration costs for players who aren't even on the 40-man roster at the moment (Bride, Duarte) as well as players like Miranda who will not be tendered a contract. If they don't make moves, they're looking at $140M in 2027 and 2028.
  9. I don't think a potential new owner cares at all about the people living in the house, just like people purchasing a large business don't usually care about who works there.
  10. Is it a service time thing where keeping him in AAA means they get his age 32 season? Otherwise, I agree, it makes no sense to trade Brock Stewart for someone you think is worse than Dashawn Keirsey.
  11. A better analogy. You purchased a home for $108M but forgot to insure it and it burned to the ground. The lot is worth $30M. Some rich guy from Houston offers to buy it for $75M. Do you tell him no?
  12. How so? France doesn't make any money. They will replace him with someone making league minimum and save a whopping $60,000 for the rest of the season. France was included because the Blue Jays wanted him.
  13. The Varland deal brought back the next highest rated prospects after the Duran deal. They're thinking they replaced Larnach with Roden and brought in a starting pitcher with Rojas. I don't understand why they traded Stewart for Outman, especially since they sent Outman to AAA.
  14. Added to 40 man James Outman, OF Alan Roden, OF Taj Bradley, RHP Mick Abel, RHP If I count right, the roster has 35 players (5 openings).
  15. They added catching and pitching, especially lefthanded pitching. Both of those were desperate needs for the Twins organization. They saved a lot of money. Adding it up I get $75M (Correa) $4.7M (Paddack and Dobnak) $3M (Bader) $2.1M (Castro) $1.3M (Duran) $1M (Coulombe) $0.8 (Jax) ---------- Total is $88M; $13M is avoided spending from this season.
  16. The next round of prospect voting should be a blast. Here's how MLB.com slots in the new acquisitions 4) Tait (for Duran) 6) Abel (for Duran) 7) Rojas (for Varland, ranks ahead of Dasan Hill) 16) Gallagher (for Castro, ahead of Charlee Soto) 20) Mendez (for Bader) 24) Jimenez (for Paddack) Not ranked - OF Alan Roden, RHP Geremy Villoria, LHP Garrett Horn, RHP Sam Armstrong, RHP Mike Mikulski MLB players - Outman, Bradley
  17. Buxton's still on the IL. Keaschall isn't done with his rehab. My guess at tomorrow's roster OF - Larnach, Outman, Wallner (Martin, Keirsey) IF - Lewis, Lee, Julien, Clemens (Gasper, Fitzgerald) C - Jeffers (Vazquez) SP - Ryan, Ober, SWR, Matthews, Bradley RP - Sands, Topa, Tonkin, Funderburk, Davis, ???, ???, ??? Roden could replace Martin, though that would make everyone in the outfield LHB.
  18. That's funny, because his bat doesn't play at 3B.
  19. At least Varland was traded for prospects. I do not understand trading Stewart for Outman at all.
  20. Julien should be up immediately.
