    Possibly all three. Some extensions for young players are going to blow up in your face but if you make enough of them you come out ahead. The question is obviously about the cost. I don't know why Abel would take a team friendly long-term deal at the low cost that is his current value. Keaschall is a second baseman, and they don't make a lot of money in free agency so he shouldn't cost much either. Bradley is one where you make the deal now or you never have another opportunity. If he maintains this peformance for the whole season they won't be able to afford him.

    I certainly have more hope that Abel's performance will improve with more experience in the rotation. Ober is trying to keep his career alive after losing his stuff.

    It is abundantly clear that the players with the most success challenging pitches are the catchers. Shelton shouldn't allow hitters to make challenges at all until the 7th inning. The Twins pitchers need all the help they can get.

    Like who? I think the overwhelming majority of Twins fans expected them to lose more games than they win this season.

    Better defense would make all of their pitchers better. The pitchers have to try to strike everyone out. They don’t have the luxury of pitching to contact even when they have a lead.

    Except Bell is a DH, not a first baseman. Their options at 1B were Clemens and Wagaman. Caratini has a higher career OPS than either of them and hit better than each of them in 2025.

    With one injury to the roster we should see Wagaman promoted and he will get the reps at 1B instead of Caratini. That will give us a different player to complain about.

    The roster feels much more like a collection of undervalued “assets” than a baseball team. Why does a team with a $100M payroll need a $5M backup DH?

    Caratini is another bat-first “value” signing. He will be the starting catcher when Jeffers is traded at the deadline. Crazy how much they spent on Caratini and Bell and they still don’t have a first baseman.

    Lack of understanding of the leaguewide value of defense and speed. Obsession with "value" and "being competitive" rather than trying to build a contending team. Poor use of limited resources when spending on the roster.

    The Twins have stated they think Keaschall is a future All-Star but they haven't tried to lock him up. They didn't extend Jeffers when it was an obvious decision. I have no confidence in this front office's ability to do anything except watch the waiver wire to "upgrade the floor".

    Ridiculous conditions for a game. When Royce Lewis looked up to find a pop up and saw only the rain pouring into his eyes they should have suspended the game. I am shocked there were no injuries. Lousy night for everyone, including the Kansas City fans who deserved a better experience for their ticket price.

    That’s true of almost every major league player. In high school they pitched and played SS, CF or C.

    If they already feel that Lee can’t beat out Tristan Gray they need to option him to the minors and either call up Culpepper or make a trade for a SS. Tristan Gray is a white flag of surrender.

    Shelton thinks it is better to play Larnach and Martin as a platoon in LF and Clemens and Caratini as a platoon at 1B.

    And that is probably the best choice defensively. A lousy 1B hurts the defense more than a lousy LF because 1B gets 4x more chances than LF.

    The bat they added is Bell. They added a DH when they needed a first baseman. They already had a DH.

    It is going to take a little while for the players to learn when to challenge. Can we be done with batting Kody Clemens in the lead off spot?

    I think Larnach is better at LF than Bell is at 1B.

    It was clear that the game would be decided by the bullpens. Are you confident the Twins bullpen can protect a one run lead for 4+ innings?

    I misread the box score, but I’m still not willing to leap to the conclusion that Topa is hot garbage and doesn’t deserve an MLB job based on what happened yesterday. Spring training ERA is mostly useless as well. If they do cut Topa, the next man up is quite likely to put up an ERA over 5. Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.

    The situations yesterday were pretty typical so knowing the base rate is actually really useful. The pitcher wasn’t wild. The batters weren’t so bad that bunting makes sense. The weather wasn’t a factor.

    Baltimore’s “ace” is not anything special. Kudos to you for knowing in advance that the bats would be “cold”. The rest of us only found that out after the fact. Your ability to predict the future is remarkable. Play your favorite lottery numbers now before that wears off.
