    It makes a ton of sense, especially since the players will surely drag out the negotiations as long as possible. Stroman makes the most sense to me too. I wouldn’t be too quick to sign Pineda. There will be a few Pinedas available later, but the strong front of rotation (1 or 2) types will all be locked up by tomorrow. Agreed, make it happen

    Ya, I would sign Pineda to a one year 8mil deal, no longer. If someone else outbids, so be it. I can’t imagine Stroman signs for less than 4 years, probably 5. I’d sign him for 5 years, probably 90-100 mil, maybe more

    We all missed the obvious answer: FALSE! Buxton will play 162 games in CF and reach all his at bat and MVP bonuses be the MVP and single handedly carry the team to win the World Series

    Agreed with the OP, Kepler is probably not a preferred option at CF. I think Gordon is option 1, Cave is option 2 for Buxton backup. I wouldn’t be shocked if he got a minor league deal with ST invite, but if Danny Santana makes the opening day roster… oofda, something went wrong

    Rogers’ finger injury has me a bit nervous. 6.7 to 7 mil on a relief pitcher that you aren’t sure of what you are getting… I would try to sign him to a 2 year deal though…

    Additional to this, each team gets only one timeout/trip to the mound per half inning (except injury) this includes pitching changes. get your signs right, quit adjusting all your dang pads and if you bring it into the batters box, your bringing it with you the whole way around the bases

    And they did respond to the deadened ball by signing a glove-first short stop. The FO isn’t incapable of being responsive. They do box themselves in though… I can’t think of an early, decisive, addition move. In an off-season where this team desperately needs decisiveness, it really feels like this FO is sticking to their modus operandi. my fear is this will limit the effectiveness of their moves, or default into sell-off because they can’t get the pieces they need

    This speaks well to the OP. The FO needs to be more responsive. Only waiting for the market to come to you means you’re only shopping in one aisle of the grocery store. You might need lobster, but if you only shop in the canned goods section, your making due with canned tuna. we’re talking about an event to make the execution events more tangible, but the game continually evolves. The FO’s execution of the strategy needs to change with it. There are hundreds of sense and response events in a season

    Very true, was thinking more of consistency of zone for the nibblers, would mean reputational strikes would go away… assumed the rulebook zone would stand. If the zone is smaller or shifts… whew when the zone gets tweaked the permutations grow exponentially… 7 sides plus 6 directions my brain is too turkey-lazy to do the math today

    Agreed, also possibly pitching and SS pitchers that nibble at the zone and can break their pitches in and out (lateral or vertical) can become more valuable relatively to flame throwers, and so infield defense can become more valuable

    I think you are on to something here. I’m not sure, but if it did make sinkerballers more valuable, SS fielding would as well. Pace of play too

    Maybe I value defense at shortstop too much. Agreed with Farmerguychris on Polanco/Arraez. However the OP makes a very compelling argument on a bat-first SS. Maybe a different takt on SS Acquisition?

    I absolutely support this idea, Manea would improve this rotation immensely. Giving up that package of players would require the FO to extend Manea, but a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Just like free agency, trades like this are not available every offseason. Next year the As won't be trying to offload so much quality pitching. Twins need to capitalize while they can. Acquiring 2 good starting pitchers gives this team a chance in 2022 and they can afford to give up some future assets to improve the present. I'd personally prefer Montas, but flexibility is required in making an agreement.
