  1. I would put Woods-Richardson first at this point - he has proven himself to be more than reliable. Where would we be this season without him. And I would then have Zebby second because I think he is making himself into something really special which leaves Festa third - and that is a sign of a really good group. Varland is the outlier. Like other commentators I would see him in the BP which puts Morris as number four.
  2. Did I miss the header? Is this one of those comedy postings? Or this sarcasm? Maybe an addition for the Michael Rand replacement - I hear he is going to be a free agent and we never sign those.
  3. We got a win with Margot and Santana at the top of the order! The baseball gods are giggling and we are having fun. Richards continue to be our number two behind Ober. How great.
  4. Camargo and Olivar and Winkel. Cossetti behind them. We will be fine.
  5. Give me the electronic strike zone and get rid of this silly pitch framing stat. It is a strike or not a strike. Stealing a strike is a silly thing to celebrate.
  6. Not meaningless to many of us. MLB is now considering a six inning requirement for SP in the future (per the Athletic). I know there is a lot to work out, but I like the idea. 3 - 4 BP pitchers per game is not for me and I will celebrate a 20 game winner any time. I know you are new age and I am old age - too late for me to change over. Give me wins, ERAs, RBIs (yes they count - that is why we look at RISP each game).
  7. This begs the question - Is Ober now the Ace? Ober 12 - 5 3.52 O,96 Whip 128 Innings Lopez 11 - 8 4.67 1.15 135 Both are 28. I like Ober's consistency. But then up and coming - Richards - age 23 3-3 3.76 1.18 Whip 102 Ryan is 7 - 7 3.60 0.98 135 innings Nice to have so many choices! Can Zebby, Festa or Varland compete with these stats? And if you are wondering Paddack had higher era and whip than any of the first four.
  8. Keirsey is not a young AAA player - I suspect he would welcome a bench role - especially the Margot role where he has 104 games and 272 ABs so far,
  9. I agree, but looking at Taylor's 200 average he was not worth the investment either. This was the place for another rookie to come in.
  10. I will take Doncon, but otherwise I cannot think that Keisey would have been of lesser value and bringing up Julien for Buxton does not make sense.
  11. Interesting discussion. I expect our rotation next year should be Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Festa and Zebby (at least I hope so) and I would really like to see Varland go to the pen. So the AAA rotation has to be set to be the replacements that we know we will need. I see Lewis and Morris leading that rotation. I would also put Raya there - time to test him. I know I left off Paddack, but that is intentional. I would trade him.
  12. I get concerned with the call up send down routine for players like Varland and Winder. I have no idea what it means psychologically. How does this affect service time? Nice to see Lewis coming around - AAA should be soon.
  13. Interesting speculation, but I am not ready to ask for a move. He needs to be injury free for an extended period and then we can just his abilities. For now he needs no more changes.
  14. I am not sure Varland deserves the accolades that the posters have given him.. not a terrible start, but not sterling either. I want more and we need more. Interesting to see how the rotation pans out. I would go with a six man rotation now that we are so heavy in prospects.
  15. I suspect this article is doing what you expected and getting tons of posts - I would add my NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo and suggest we go after Sandy Koufax - he is still alive and breathing.
  16. I love it - his middle name I had to look it up today - his first name is Daniel. His middle name is Zebulon. Zebulon Pike was the first to come north and look for the source of the Mississippi - he chose Leech Lake. Then he returned south and took his next expedition to Pike's Peak. So we can use the peak as a talisman for Zebby's rise.
  17. Morris has definitely moved up in the prospect rankings, but I suspect also in the pipeline - I expect him up if Varland fails in his starts. The lineup of prospects looks good, but it also looks like we are coming to the end of the line. Morris might be ready, who would be next? Camargo at first looked good in the field. Are they prepping him for Santana's place next year? I wondered who would be at first now that Kiriloff has lost his luster and seems to be almost an after thought. I still hope he does well, whether following the Rooker and Raley route with another team or finally getting healthy and producing in MN.
  18. I am sold on Zebby. Keep them in the rotation and let him mature and succeed.
  19. I think the 40 man is a poor excuse, but you are right they will use it. They still have easy drops to get the best team on the field.
