  1. The Yankees are “preparing to make an offer” to left-hander Carlos Rodon, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post." This was on Yahoo sports. Giants - Yankees - Twins. Who wins? View full rumor

  3. I take Rodon before Correa if it is one or the other. The catcher may have to be a trade and that would hurt.
  4. MLB draft is just hard to get excited about - unlike NFL and NBA, the players are lesser known and years away from the Majors. But let's hope we get a really good one. I have been excited about Chase Petty (sigh) and Brooks Lee (hope he makes it this year), but often it is late in the draft that so many good players are found.
  5. Another possibility for the rotation is gone and Rodon is going crazy. The Mets signed Senga for $75M over 5 years. He seemed like a possibility for us. Rodon is the big auction piece left for the mound. We could have afforded Senga, but I doubt is we compete for Rodon. View full rumor

  7. The Mets just signed Senga. He would have been viable for the Twins - another one leaves the pack - FA pickings are getting slim.
  8. So much excitement. The Central will be a great threat now that the schedule has every team playing every team.
  9. I would just shake my head and still support you.
  10. I want a package of Kepler and Polanco for the pitcher we need and move Luis to 2B and move on. Team BA - 248 - Arraez - 316 Those who were above the team average - Urshela - gone MIranda Correa - Free Agent Nick Gordon - position unknown Kiriloff and Lewis in short samples Take off the Free agent and traded player - then remove Arraez and what is the team BA?
  11. First we had Covid-19, now we have Free Agent Frenzy-22. Both will pass, but Covid is usually over in a week! The years and ages just don't match up. My hope is in the minors.
  12. But that is okay. We don't make the decision, we just think about it.
  13. I laid out my thoughts in the Forum - I appreciate all the arguments for signing Correa, but I am afraid I will not swing over to the other side unless the years are much less than what the contracts have been. Being from Frostbite Falls you should realize Rocky and Bullwinkle had a great start, but they only lasted five years!
  14. No guarantees - they did not guarantee Pena would be as good as he is, but give the young player a chance. Who can tell me Correa will not get hurt or that he will not decline younger than we expect.
  15. The Twins are in on Correa, they are discussing trades, they are watching players sign with other teams. At least it provides some talking points.
  16. In the 2000's both teams have been to the same number of World Series! Their last 1998, ours 1991. But at least they won some playoff games! Spending is not the key, building a team is.
  17. I am ready to guide his bird watching career! But no Orioles, Blue Jays or Cardinals!
  18. Ask Angel fans if Pujols contract impacted their team.
  19. That is a big interpretive stretch. Perhaps make tickets cheaper and payback the fans. Help the minors. Help college ball. Spread the money throughout the team. There are more ways to spend than one magastar contract.
  20. He didn't start to hit and be the Correa we expected until we started to go downhill.
  21. No No No Lets get Lewis or Lee to be the new Pena. Don't commit the future to someone who is just going to be an anchor on the team payroll and roster in 3 - 5 years. I hate this. It is owner ego not realistic team planning. SD has been signing big names for how many years and no WS to show for it.
  22. I keep wondering what the league knows - last year there was the first wave of "great" SS and he took our offer because he could not get what he thought he should. Now we are in year two of the "Great" SS and we are seeing the teams signing Turner, Bogaerts is close to a deal with Boston and if that happens we have Swanson - first FA year and Correa - second FA year. Offer him another opt out contract and get him for one more year - next year there will not be the SS crowd. Of move on. And by the way Contreras signed with the Cardinals who know catching is essential.
  23. I am still mystified - we finished under 500 with Correa getting the highest salary in 2022. Now we want to make sure he keeps getting a high salary, but we have done nothing to make the team around him better so we think that having one overpaid superstar on the team will make a difference - check on the Angels.
  24. I hate to say this, but I feel sorry for the really lousy teams who fall down like the A's, Reds, Royals. But since that is the system I am always delighted when our team wins out and now let's get someone and not trade them. I am still sorry about Petty and want to hold on to Lee. Let's build the pipeline.
