  1. I have to have Julien #2 behind Lee. Then I hope Lewis is three and Rodriguez is four and climbing. Martin has a lot more to prove. And I do not know who to put at #5.
  2. I would like to see Ober start and Maeda prove himself in the pen for the beginning of the season. I worry about him even more that Mahle and his mystery ailment. If Ober and Maeda piggyback each other and rotate who starts we have a chance for both of them to be at top form when the inevitable injury happens.
  3. This is an interesting exercise with the injuries to Kiriloff and Polanco. I feel like there is really not much controversy with the FO signing veterans for the bench and to fill in when needed. I hope for Julien, Lee, and Lewis to force the team to call them up and when they do DFA for the vets if they are not producing. We saw Santana jettisoned from the 40 man, so Solano and Farmer and Gallo can suffer the same fate if they do not live up to expectations.
  4. I was curious why Sabato was listed instead of Wallner. I do like a consistent DH. I think it takes a while to adjust to DH and it is nice to have a regular lineup where everyone knows their roles.
  5. Another article tried to drink the Twins Kool-Aid, this article just ruined the taste and is the reason why no one should go crazy with their spring training optimism. Wait and see!
  6. The question is that baseball is a marathon and not a Sprint. Spring training is a time for optimism and it's nice that you come out with this strong feeling, but Kool-Aid is not on my beverage list. I'm content to watch and wait. Last year the first half season was good, the ending was not. I suggest a good glass of bourbon and just enjoy whatever happens without setting yourself up for possible disappointment
  7. Lee, not Lewis. But is this the year or is it next year for Lee? We cannot afford to extend too many injury prone players. Let's see what Lewis does in a full year before considering this. We don't even know where these two will play. The roster is not filled with aging vets.
  8. Right now our success stories are Duran, Miranda, and Gordon in that order. I wish Ober was, but let's get in a full season and Jax is a filler at this point and I hope he improves again.
  9. I'd love to see Ober in the rotation. But I just don't see the twins doing that. They signed their veteran pitchers for a reason and they may feel committed that way. Are there any other young pitchers who are looking good this year.
  10. It makes me appreciate the rotation in the mid 1960s Grant/Kaat/Perry/Pacual
  11. AM I surprised that Pagan is not having a good spring? CUT HIM
  12. To keep him fresh for all the season what you're seeing in spring training is a preview of the year. We aren't going to put him in the field or at bat but we are going to have him in batting practice everyday so he can entertain those who come to the game early.
  13. I expect him to do really well. Both with the bat and in the field. As he settles he's going to be hard to move and despite our love of versatility I know what we did to Sano.
  14. If healthy I take Ober - then it is between Winder or Richardson.
  15. I have seen Polanco as a trade candidate for the last year. We missed the opportunity to sell high. 2B does get more important without the shift and if we have ground ball pitchers. Otherwise 2B seems to be where we push players without position or fielding greatness.
  16. Our weakest position is the BP. Then if Gallo does not bounce back and Kiriloff is hurt then two areas - 1B and OF because major areas of concern. I know you list RF and LF separate, but I just lump them together.
  17. More ST wishes - what matters to me is the fact they still have a manager named Francona - don't sell them short. In the last 10 years they were under 500 once - 494. Seven times they were over 550. Our job is not to wish for Cleveland to go backward. It is our job to be better. But dreaming is allowed this time of year.
  18. I worry and hope with Kiriloff, but wonder why Wallner is not an option here too? My one comment on defense at 1B - it is the position that is involved in more action than any position except catcher and we should give it more defensive consideration.
  19. I really like him and feel he has gotten some unjust criticism. I hope he comes back healthy and is back on the roster next year.
  20. If we were rating MN disappointments - Jeffers would be high. His rookie years showed so much promise, but his diminishing numbers don't show a player who is progressing. And the next depth wave looks pretty meager.
  21. Good reflection - hard to add anything to what you wrote - they are such a disappointment that figuring out how to fix them is almost impossible. But they definitely showed that adding a FA to a bad team does not make a better team - it just might make a worse FA.
  22. What a fun fantasy - this is what spring training is all about - dreams and hopes
  23. I like Miranda a lot -but Machado - the pressure is on. ST is so full of optimism - I think we will be 162 - 0 this year!
  24. Wow - the ACE card has come up again. No there are not 24 Aces out there if we go by the definitions that seem to float around that this is the guy you want to start and end a WS. I will take 5 really good pitchers, and an outstanding BP. The age of 100 MPH means that arms disintegrate - not worth a lot of prospects. We have enough articles about how good this SP depth is. Let's test it.
  25. I was not happy with Molitor being replaced, but it is not Baldelli's fault. I am not happy with his by the book approach, but it reflects the FO and all the coaches that have been brought in so I am not sure what I should be using to judge him.
