  1. I am always interested in these lists even though the actual rank does not mean that much. Balazovic fell, but I might have knocked him out of the top 20. Canterino is another of our (if healthy) hope guys. I expected Henriquez to be higher, Based on past articles I like Rodriguez more than the others on this list.
  2. If I thought my hopes would help him I would write him a letter to encourage him, but he does not and will not know me and like most fans I will be anonymous no matter what he does.
  3. None - it is the attitude not the desire to sign a high priced RP at this point when everything is picked over. What I want is to replace Pagan with a young arm that can learn to be a good BP pitcher.
  4. I am not arguing this, I just think that no matter if it is the same or changes, BP has become a high priority for most teams in this period of baseball.
  5. Like most Twins fans, I will be delighted if he succeeds, but there is no question that he was expendable for the team.
  6. It is an illogical position when you consider how many RP appearances we had last year. Is Rocco going to change his strategy - did he turn over the instruction page and realize that SP can go 6 - 7 innings? In today's MLB the BP is the priority. KC in their WS years changed the paradigm, the Yankees built on this and so did many other staffs.
  7. 1 -3 look really good, 4 - 5 are okay, but have to play out to see if we broke even, 6 - 7 belong on the bottom of your list. Good job with this. Where do you put the Paddock extension? I have it at 4. Trading Urshela still makes no sense to me. Signing Pagan at 3.5Million (bottom of the list).
  8. I think you get it. Others may like him, I will not. Statistics won't do it. You give a really good analysis. Thanks.
  9. I did not like him in Texas either
  10. Wait and see. We have anticipated long enough with Lewis and Kiriloff and Larnach - now it is time to produce or look to the next group.
  11. Right now I cannot - let him prove himself - show value and I will slowly convert, but he has stunk enough that I do not have to have a rosy expectation. I wish there were some Yankee and Dodger fans who could jump in here.
  12. This is the disappointment and unknown list. We have a group of players who were rated much higher in the past and seem to be slipping into that long term minor league role like the Sabato pick (I remember that most TD comments were negative on this pick when it was made). Sands and Enlow are slipping and do not seem like future assets. With the assets we traded there are some on this list that would be in the last article - close but no cigar.
  13. Okay - we will differ. I just addressed another person who disagrees with me. That is fine, but home run derby, and the boring K and BB events do not make Baseball for me. Move the runner, advance runners, challenge the defense. And I am sure Joey will have a lot of fans - just listen for the soft booing you might hear in the distance.
  14. I do not think I will be able to explain this so that you will accept my feelings. I do think BA means something, hits do more than walks. They lead to movement on the basepaths, advancing the runners, sometimes errors, sometimes bad judgment. A walk like a strike out is a static event. Boring. If you do not accept this perspective I understand - new age analytics has its own perspective and it is not mine.
  15. As a consistent Gallo detractor I will say he has to earn my trust. Just putting on a uniform does not endure me to him. Pagan still wears our uniform and I want to get rid of him. Sorry but Gallo has an 8 year lifetime batting average of 199. I cannot root for that.
  16. I hope they do not squeeze Larnach out - if he is DH that is fine, but of course I would rather see him in the field. We need to see if production meets projection. Hate to see Pagan second highest paid in BP and Gallo third highest paid bat.
  17. This was really fun - an introduction to a lot of names without worrying about rank. It is so hard to get to the majors and I want to see more opportunities for graduation. It is one of the reason I am never excited about veteran additions that have poor upside - I would rather move through the minors.
  18. I really like Miranda and I think he will become a high level player for us. I have the same feeling about Julien and I am anxious to see him in the majors too.
  19. Like others on this thread, I thought Fullmer was alright - by comparison to Pagan he was an all-star. But he was not a lights out reliever and the league that is desperate for RP has passed on him. If we sign him, fine, but don't think of it as a major acquisition.
  20. At this point - how do we know? Until he plays again we just hope the past is predictive of the future.
  21. Nice defense - I still think he is too tall, too awkward and too infrequently in the field to be considered a good defender. I would take Kepler first. But if you are satisfied that is fine with me. I will be a season long skeptic.
  22. Now we have a weakness in prospects. Looking at Keith Law, mlb.com and ESPN prospect rankings we have Rodriguez and Lee and the Guardians have six prospects (all in top fifty in Law's list) and none of our are pitchers. We have cashed in on prospects now the future depends on replenishing this system.
  23. I found the article interesting, but it didn't really stir up any emotions for me. Trying to figure out where MLB is going with contracts - both money and years - is really confusing. I cannot relate to them. As far as building the team the weakness I see is how the team is handling its own pitcher development. Relying on FA and a constant stream of trades just is not a good strategy in the long run. Does it mean that we are all overvaluing the prospects and arms? SWR, Varland, Ober, Winder, Balazovic all sounded like they have potential, but how do we use it? When do we get to see them show it? Is Paddock really better than they are? In the BP we get Lopez and Pagan, but Sands and Henriquez are both nearly ready to break out (I hope). Our internal extensions have some head scratching aspects. Buxton looks like a great deal unless he breaks down. Polanco was a good extension and I think we should have used his cost to trade him. Kepler is not as good and the fact he has not been traded might mean other teams do not see real value in him either. Sano was a bust and that is a real shame because the raw talent was there. And Dobnak feels like a feel good story and good for him. His salary might seem low in MLB, but elsewhere he is doing great and I do not expect to seem him on the Twins again.
  24. I agree completely with this statement. Those are my concerns too and I have posted numerous responses to the Gallo is a good fielder statement that Nick repeated. Go to BR and look at his fielding WAR over the years. 1.6 accumulated over 8 years. He might not be bad, but his prowess is overstated and does not do enough for me to overcome his Ks. The pitching looks good except for Lopez and Pagan and if we have to count on Dobnak everything has gone off the rails. Let's hope for health and wait for the next FO move. Vazquez and Lopez (the starter) are the two big moves. The trainer, like the batting and pitching coaches is hard for me to judge.
  25. I hope Celestino comes to camp and shows he has matured over the winter. A young player like him can change a lot between seasons and I expect that Taylor will become superfluous. For now it is fine, but we still have at least one too many OF candidates.
