  1. I sure hope Duran isn't traded. I don't think our rotation is going to be all that great. We have a solid 1-3, but SWR could have himself a sophomore slump with teams now getting a book on him. Festa and Mathews didn't look quite ready. Then there are the injury concerns. One way to make up for a mediocre rotation is with an elite bullpen. If we keep all the pieces we have and add a solid lefty reliever, we could be great. Add in a possible Canterino and Prelipp to our relief ranks and we could have one of the best pens in the game. It sure worked out pretty good for DET and CLE....
  2. With all our injury prone players all over the field I'd love it if we could keep Castro. We all know he'd have plenty of playing time with injuries and poor performance. If he takes a step back in production however, there are a few candidates like Keaschal, Eeles or Martin that could potentially replace him. Maybe we could trade him for a cheap lefty reliever that we really need. Fill a need in the pen and shed some salary to be used elsewhere. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do. My guess is Paddack and Castro will be gone for sure. They'll try to trade Vasquez but he'll be tougher. We'd probably have to attach a prospect to him to get a team to take on his whole salary, plus we have no viable replacements for him ATM.
  3. Much of Buxton's value comes from him playing CF at a very high level. Health is always going to be the question. He's going to K a lot and not walk at all. But if we can get 100+ games out of him we know what we'll probably get. A solid defender in CF and a good hitter that will help lengthen the lle lineup immensely. A.230-.270 BA, 15-25 HR and up to 75 RBIs. I'd love it if he'd try stealing bases again, but he hardly is ever on first base anyways, he could be close to the leaderboards in doubles IF he can play most of the year. We've got him for 4 more years. Keep him in center field where he belongs and get a good backup for him. Do whatever we can to keep him healthy and hit him in the middle of our order. He's one of the most fun players on the team to watch. Hoping for an all-star type year for Buck in '25!
  4. Rosario could end up being a great hitter. With his poor defense and super high K rate, I think we should try to trade him. Our other OF of the future Rodriguez also has strikeout issues. Between him and Wallner, I'm not sure we can handle Rosario being another high K guy in our OF. Trade him for pitching. As for Prelipp, I think him and Canterino, if finally healthy, could be major late game weapons as relief pitchers. Add one or both of them to the guys we already have and our pen starts to look like one of the best in the league:)
  5. I would love it if any of these guys could come up and produce right away in '25, but I just don't see it. Rodriguez has only a handful of at bats in AAA and didn't look great. He had a good half season at AAA but that's a long ways from being ready. Keaschal and Raya haven't even played in AAA yet, except for the five innings Raya threw at the end of the year. Prelipp I think actually has a chance as a bullpen arm, but he's still going to need to pitch in AA at the very least and prove that he's healthy and can handle a full season. If anyone is going to come up and make an impact this year I'd say it might be Keirsey, Mccusker, or Eeles. Keaschal has a small chance, and he could be the first baseman we need if he can outhit Miranda. I'm still surprised we let Severino go with our need at first base still unfilled. It would make sense if we were going to sign someone like Alonzo, Walker or Goldschmidt, but that's not happening.
  6. Rosario has been a fun guy to follow. He is the RH outfielder that we need. I believe he played in AA last year. Is that where he starts 2025? Any chance he gets a late season call up? I'm just hoping for a full, I jury free seasons from him, Rodriguez and Jenkins. Those guys are our future OF, and it can be a real good one if we can keep them healthy and give them the development time they need.
  7. Best reliever on our team with three more years of control. Trading him should get someone fired. Especially when you consider the fact we are not signing anyone of value to improve our bullpen, getting rid of our best arm out there would cripple our pen and entire pitching staff. We are going to need a very good pen in '25. We are most likely going to rely on SWR and Festa as our number 4 and 5's. Upon inevitable injury, Mathews will be back up before he's ready. This all means the pen is going to be pitching lots of important innings. We need to add and improve our bullpen, not tear it down. We all saw what a solid relief group can do in DET and CLE last year. With just a few additions we could have an elite group as well.
  8. This dude would be exactly what we need in the rotation. Being an amateur, he should actually come pretty cheap, meaning even our broke ass team can afford him. Will it happen? Hell no. He's going to the Dodgers to play with Ohtani and Yamamoto. Maybe someone like the Mets or Padres. The Twins, lol no chance.
  9. We sure have had a lot of change in management at the top levels so far. All this with the potential sale of the team in the background. Will be interesting to see how all this drama effects the off-season. I sure hope they don't use all this chaos as an excuse to stand pat and not make any additions or changes to the MLB roster.
  10. We really should have traded Tanner Schoebel when he was at peak value. We've got tons of infielders and not enough roster spots, we could have maybe packaged him with someone else to get some pitching. I'm excited about Beltre and Mercedes. It's just too bad they're so far away from the bigs. A little concerning there are no pitchers on this list...
  11. I'm not sure I believe we're the fourth best team in the AL, but I do believe we have a good enough core to be a potential playoff threat. With just a few more additions I think we'd have a real shot. A power hitting first baseman, a RH hitting fourth outfielder, a SP and a lefty reliever for our pen and we should be all set. How and if we fill these holes with no money remains to be seen. I just hope they don't give up on the off-season without even trying to get better. Fans are pissed enough after last year's deadline and late season collapse. We deserve a little something that shows ownership cares about winning.
  12. Lewis isn't going anywhere. Even for a cash strapped team, you don't get rid of potentially one of your best players especially with years of control left at a super cheap price. I hope they stop with this second base stuff. Keep him at third where he's comfortable. If anything, maybe a move to first in the future. We have enough other options for second base.
  13. I think Eeles could be exactly what this team needs this year. An exciting fast player who plays with energy and intensity. If he hits well enough it will be nice to have a true stolen base threat on the base paths. I'm a bit surprised that they let Severino go, given our hole at first base. Maybe the resign him to a minor league deal and hope for a big season in 2025?
  14. So basically our options will be injured or coming back from injury guys, DFA candidates and waiver wire fodder. Sign a handful to minor league deals with spring invites and hope one or two work out. Not a very inspiring plan. As long as we have a relatively healthy pitching staff, I think we are actually pretty good. One more SP to allow Festa and Mathews to start the year in AAA and polish up their game a bit. A solid late inning lefty reliever and maybe a couple NRI and we should be ok. I'm more worried about the fact we need a first baseman and TH hitting OF.
  15. I don't hate the idea, but I also don't think Diaz could outhit Miranda in a full season. I think we need to try and actually upgrade our first baseman with Walker, O'hearn, Mount Castle. If we can't swing a trade or sign anyone then either let Miranda run with it or do what I think is inevitable....move Lewis to first, Lee to second, Correa at SS and Miranda at third. Castro, Eeles, Julien and Keaschal can all be backup IF.
  16. We do have holes on this roster though. I believe we need a starting first baseman. A starting pitcher who can slot in above Festa, allowing him to start in AAA and be the first line of defense for injury in the rotation. We need a good lefty reliever. A RH OF would be nice, although I think we could get by with some combination of Keirsey, Castro, Martin or Mccusker. It will be very disappointing if the Twins stand pat and basically bow out of the off-season just like they did at the trade deadline. Falvey needs to find a way to improve this team, as the AL Central is no longer a weak division.
  17. If we can trade Paddack, maybe we can get the lefty reliever we really need in a one for one swap. The other scenario would be trading him for some minor league prospect as basically a salary dump. If they go this route, the money saved needs to go towards a first baseman or pitching help.
  18. We can probably get the production we'd get from Perkins from Keirsey. He can play all three OF positions well too. Why the heck would we trade one of our best pitchers for a backup OF who can't hit? I think some combo of Keirsey, Castro, Martin and maybe Mccusker can more than adequately cover the backup OF positions at least until Rodriguez, Rosario and Jenkins are ready. I'm more worried about first base and pitching depth. A starting pitcher and a lefty reliever to be specific.
  19. Don't think he needs a spot just yet. Maybe if he plays as a full-time catcher next year and continues to hit well then he would warrant a 40 man, as we need a replacement for Vasquez and possibly even Jeffers in the near future. With limited roster spots, I think there are a few others who have earned a spot more and have a better chance of impacting the team this year and in 26
  20. Ticket sales and general interest in the team would crater of we got rid of one of our only "star" players. People come to the park to see these nationally recognized guys and if we don't have any, nobody is going to pay to come see what amounts to a AAA team.
  21. I think Lee is our best bet moving forward. He can also back up SS and 3rd. I don't think Lewis should play second. Keep him at third where he's comfortable, possibly moving him to first base where he profiles better as a power hitter. Hopefully Eeles and Keaschal can factor in somehow. Maybe Julien hits his way back to the majors. You can never have too much depth. Maybe we can turn some of these infielders into trade bait if enough of them are successful
  22. How is he an all-star with an ERA like that? Must be all offense in the AFL still.
  23. Twins need to improve on defense, get more athletic and inject some speed, energy and base stealing to the 2025 team. Keirsey could help with all this. I say give him the fourth OF job and let him play. Him and Martin should be able to hold down the backup OF roles until Rosario, Rodriguez and Mccusker are ready. Not worrying about the OF means we could focus on a first baseman instead. I like Miranda but don't think he's a good fit at first base. Christian Walker would be a great addition, if we can free up payroll to sign him for 2-3 years. On the trade front Yandy Diaz of the Rays would be a good fit too, and he's set to make only ten million this year I believe.
  24. If we have to rely on Festa or Mathews right out of the gate, I'll be worried about our rotation. They need more time in AAA, especially Zebby who was pitching in A ball last year. I like our 1-4 with Lopez, Over, Ryan and SWR. Paddack will probably be moved so I think we need to somehow grab a SP to be our number 5. Mathew Boyd could come cheap. Kikuchi would be great but he's too expensive. As long as Festa, Mathews and Morris start the year in the minors with Festa our first call up as injury replacement we should be ok. All this is assuming the team cleans up our atrocious defense somehow.
  25. The only free agent I'm expecting are the usual DFA or returning from injury type relievers. Guys you could usually get on the waiver wire during the season. We'll sign four or five of them to minor league deals with invites to spring and hope one of them catches on. Maybe if we trade Paddack and clear his salary we sign a legit major league reliever, but that will be it. Our first baseman will be Miranda. Our fourth OF will be Keirsey and Martin, maybe Mccusker. We'd better hope Lee, Keaschal and Eeles turn into productive players....
