  1. I just simply do NOT trust Buxton and Kiroloffs health. Buxton could get a hernia or throw a disc out of his back picking up his cereal spoon in the morning.
  2. Thinking he'd play DH 65% of the time is a bad idea.....Buxtons gonna be there over 50% of the time if not 95% of the time. If they sign him he"s the every day 1B. Then trade Kiroloff and whomever away for pitching of any sort. A power LH pitcher would be nice.
  3. Minor League contracts are no lose deals. Strike gold on 1 and other 4/5 are easily let go without much investment at all. Every team signs a few long shots hoping to hit gold. It's a long season and there rarely are too many arms available.
  4. I'd trade Polanco for a package of young power arms. Period. The Twins need to dump salary because of the terrible tv deal. His salary gone , just as they say they need to do. Take 2/3 lottery arms and hope one works out in a year or two. They have Julien/Farmer/Gordon and Lewis to get bye with. As often as first/second round picks fail for the Twins its no big deal if the arms don't pan out. REality is most young arms DONT pan out. They have plenty of IF players.............load up some more arms with the surplus and hope to hit gold.
  5. At present...NO But keep in touch. Farmer / Polanco / Kepler / Kiroloff or Miranda any or all could be involved in trades for pitching. So lets say Miranda and Polanco are packaged together then there's a obvious place for him. or say Miranda and Farmer get packaged the same thing. Injuries could happen early in ST as well. But otherwise there's to many people for the remaining seats.
  6. For 8 years he as the best hitting catcher in MLB. For about 5 years he was the best fielding catcher. He was pretty dang good a few more years onto both of those statements.....then injuries forced him out from behind the plate. Still played good , but not great. I think he gets in. How long was Sandy Koufax the best pitcher in baseball??? 7/9 years or so???? He was then done , no position switch to a position he was just good at..........but he's in the hall????? HIs stasts say he had only a great 6 year run 61-66. Joes a no brainer then.
  7. Buxton has NEVER gave Twins fans the ANY reason to believe in much more than 92 games played. Those of you who believe you will win the Powerball or in the Easter bunny may hope for more , but his history PROVES you wrong. ONE time in his career has he played beyond that. Anything they get out of him will be a bonus. They should NOT include him in any plans. HIs odds of playing 100 games are about the same as his odds of running head first into the CF wall and injuring himself within the 1st 10 games of the year. I would love for him to prove me wrong. But I know his career and odds are well in my favor. Fasted guy on the field and he's only his double digits in SB's 3 times!!!!!!
  8. As far as Buxton is concerned you had better lower expectations and PRAY he can play 81 in the field and another 30 at Dh...THAT would be in fantasy land as his career has proven. MY folks will come back from the grave b4 Buxton plays 150 games.
  9. Buxton has gave the fans ZERO reason to trust in him being on the field more than 70-80 games. I don't think he will give the Twins 60 games in CF. I'll gladly be proven wrong , but seriously what has he ever done to give anyone confidence in his durability????? From day 1 he has had health issues and that will not get better with age. Only once in his entire career has his games played total reached three digits. ONE TIME. His Career high in rbi's is 51!!! Counting on him is like counting on the lottery to fix your finances.
  10. Julien is tradable in my eyes......he's not gonna magically become that much better at defense at this age.....if he hasn't showed it by now it ain't there. Get pitching for him and I'd trade him.
  11. Be nice if the Twins could draft and develope pitching at a better rate than they do........Seems like Cleveland/Atlanta/Miami/Houston and Tampa Bay are light years ahead of them in developing pitching.
  12. If they have to eat ANY of the salary they should just keep him. There will be injuries and Jeffers will get wore down catching more than 90 games. Get a LH power relief pitcher and shed the entire contract ? Sure , then I'm for trading him then if they are dead set on lowering the payroll. Really sucks they have this crappy tv contract. Never in my 54 years on earth has watching a Twins game on tv been more expensive and quite frankly a pain in the arse to even find. Worst sports broadcasts ever. And they wonder why the younger generation ( and many long time fans)has lost interest in MLB.
  13. Heard that this afternoon as well. If I remember right Breslow is one super smart guy. Went to a IVY league college. A place most all of us wouldn't even get admitted to. On the field experience with world class brains seems like he might be a great hire. That said , there's loads of pressure there with fan/owner expectations with a little help coming up thru the monor leagues. Looked it up......YALE with molecular biophysics and biochemistry. Good lord I'm not even smart enough to type those studies correctly.
  14. Do NOT trade him. First off he's not gonna get you much in return. His salary isn't as hurtful as Buxtons salary for 45-65 games of .210 hitting and zero defensive contribution and extremely little baserunning prowess for a person as fast as Buxton. Hope he returns next year and hits better and THEN look to trade him at all star break if they really need salary relief. Catcher is the single most important defensive position on the field , especially with the larger bases , less pickoff attempts and pitch clock , and he is heads above Jeffers as a catcher.
  15. Total failures were Gallo , Miranda , Buxton and for 1/2 the year Kepler. Correa only hit for half a season as well. Buxton cannot be counted on PERIOD. He only DH'd and only for half a season. Him hitting .220 and striking out over and over had very little value. And why the hell didn't he have that knee surgery a month ago??? He heels up slower than a Norwegian reaches for his wallet. Whatever fantasy time line they think he will recover you know you can double that. I would not bring Kepler back. Stares at pipe shot fastballs with games on the line. Plus i hate that dirty , dirty catepiller he has on his lip. Every year it takes til all star break for him to wake up and play. He played good in 2nd half , but the season starts in late March/April. Grays probably gone so now you need to get a top of rotation arm and get a power LH arm in the pen at the very least.
  16. Alveraz may as well be Reggie Jackson. Guys on fire. Big misplay in the 1st inning , some horrible 2 strike pitches by Gray and lots of horrible ab's ending in whiffs. Beat by a combo of great hitting by astros , miscue in the field and some poorly placed pitches by a guy who had a great year , but a bad day yesterday. The K's have been there from day 1 and will be there til last out. It's who they are. Great that the young guys are getting experience for future runs in the playoffs. There's still hope , but a couple other guys needs to get hot. Kireloff and Julien come to mind!!!!!!! Possibly Castro???!!!
  17. I was at the World Series game that Herbie pulled Gant off 1st base. I swear to god the CONCRETE was shaking most of the game. I wont be there in person these next two days so PLEASE fans in attendence.....get it rocking !!!!! Go Twins.
  18. Go Twins!!!! Packed house , lots of noise and positive vibes!!!!!
  19. I'd hope Taylor gets a look for gold glove in CF. He's a hell of a CF'r!!!! Cannot be said for Buxton because you can't be anything if you are not on the field.
  20. Pulling Berrios should cost someone their job......Whether the manager did it on his own or he's simply the puppet for the front office. That was one of the WORST decisions I've ever seen in playoff baseball......Buck Martinez had it nailed dead center. Berrios was pitching very , VERY well. But I guess as a Twins fan it worked out well !!!!!! Hoping for the best for the Twins.....Polanco could not be any worse in the field and should be better at the plate. Jeffers really didn't contribute nor did Kepler or Wallner. Let's hope they get with it. Taylors out played Buxton all year basically and his defense should entitle him to a gold glove award. Go Twins.
  21. Ryans gopher balls make me uneasy in a playoff game. I would have him a very , very shirt leesh.
  22. Maeda is my choice. Ryans been rubber armed for quite some time now. Keuchel cannot even be on the playoff roster.
