I'm far more concerned about the bullpen arms than worried about the OF options.....Get Chafins agent on the line , and Matt Moore or Brand Hands as well.....

Trading a Bat for an Arm
HoskenPowell replied to Hunter McCall's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Looking at Star trib boards this am was comical...people comparing Araez to the likes of Rod Carew. Good lord people. Araz is no Carew ....Carew in particular was a gold glove fielder , incredible baserunner , possibly the best bunter of the era and won batting titles with FAR higher averages....career average is 14 points higher than Araez title winnning season in a very long career. When Araez hits .333 , .350 , .364 .388 and .359 you get back to me. Rodney Cline Carew would of had 10 more triples on Louis' doubles. And Rodney routinely turned 20 of his singles into doubles by stealing 2nd base. -
Has anyone seen him??? Is he still 25 lbs overweight???? (being generous in the 25 I think too) He was simply too lazy to even attempt to be in shape. Professional athletes don't show up 25 lbs overweight every spring training. Twins shouldn't of had to watch him attempt to get in playing shape in June.

Assessing the Luis Arraez for Pablo López Trade
HoskenPowell replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would go right back to the Marlins and see what they would offer for Keplar / Gordon / Lewis and Pagan.....some pairing from that pool of players. Try and get Luzardo -
I like it To get good pitching you need to give up something good in return. Unless you think the Twins should start handing out 35-45 million a year contracts to free agent pitchers. Miami was a good partner to trade with....Twins need arms badly and Miami needs hitters. The prospects to me put this trade in our favor , but they may flame out just as easily. Time will tell......those Miami players now come to a team that can make the playoffs easier than the Marlins probably can. Lopez's stats should improve in a weak central division compared to the AL East. I had hoped Carbrera or Luzardo but Lopez is as good as anything we have and better than most. Injuries on both center peices of the trade may be issues also. Araez could sure make contact , but that was his only skill. No position to speak of....serviceable 1b and terrible 3rd and bad 2nd! slower than a plow horse didn't help either.

The Outfield Help is Already Here?
HoskenPowell replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great idea. It worked out great with Royce last year so why not take a middle infielder with little to zero experience and see if we can screw up two years of his career. -
It's real simple. Sell high on him. Our biggest weakness for years AND years had been pitching, Sell high and address pitching. He has no real position and most the places we try him he is below average at best. Package him with Keplar or one of the lhh corner outfielders and go get pitching from the Marlins or AZ. I say Lopez and Luzardo for Araez and Kepler. Araez also is poor in the running game.

Have the Twins Improved the Roster this Winter?
HoskenPowell replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Moving on from Sanchez was a big plus..............losing Urshela was a big negative. Have yet to address pen , guy like Chafin would be a big signing I believe. Getting Maeda back could be a massive improvement if he's healthy and effective. Defensively at 3b we will be going backwards with Miranda. And like a poster above stasted , how could Pagan possibly be worse??????- 29 replies

Gray should stay with the Twins at least until trade deadline. If we are out of the race then trade him for sure if they don't intend on resigning him. Araez would be the guy to trade in my opinion. No true position. Leg injury in his history and no baserunning skill set. Sell high on him. Like every Twins fan I would love to see Pagan gone , but no one is gonna give diddly for him. Couldn't possibly sell lower on him so see if he can turn it around. AK worries me with the wrist injury , I would trade him with no hesitation and also would trade Gordon or Lewis as they replicate positions and skill sets. Go get Chafin for the pen and quit screwing around. DO NOT waste Correa and Buxtons prime years.

Sign Chafin for the pen and go get one the Marlins starters they made available......trade Keplar / Larnach or AK to get that starter from Miami. Don't waste these Buxton/Corea years. A healthy productive Maeda can make that rotation a LOT better......remember folks he got CY Young votes only a few years ago. He can be THAT good.

Torii Hunter- My Case for Cooperstown
HoskenPowell replied to Alex Boxwell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not a HOF player. Period. Not even close. And I enjoyed Torri as a player. Too many people lowering the bar on the HOF. It's got to stop. -
AK has done nothing to deserve an extension.......his wrist may have ruined him forever. Hope not , but he's got a TON to prove b4 extension talks are needed. Larnach/Lewis/Lee and Miranda all are almost in same boat. Miranda had a good , not great year and is not much of fielder or base runner. If his bat continues to grow this year then look into locking him up....good that you believe in them , but they need to them prove it. AAA sucess means diddly squat in MLB

Twins talks w/ Correa have "begun to accelerate"???
HoskenPowell commented on Doc Munson's blog entry in Fantasy GM
The Malins signing Cueto now adds to a already stacked rotation without even bringing the other 3 arms in the minors they have that would prolly start for the Twins. The boy brainiacs should be on the phone this second offering up Keplar / Araez / Pagan and one of the lh hitting corner of's for a one or two of the Marlins starters on the trading block. I'm not sold on Correa long term. Sure he'd be good for a couple years at the high price. But when he needs to go to 3B or 2nd base his salary will be sky high. Premium pay is fine while he's at a premium position such as SS...... Offer him a 5 year deal he can opt out of in 2 years or we can opt out of in 4 years. Give him 30 million a year. -
Well Cueto went to the Marlins so they will be trading one of their young starters now for sure...........The brain trust in charge had better have their rear ends on the phones with the Marlins and see what it will take to land one or two of them......Vulgar display of wealth on the Marlins starting rotation....not even counting 3/4 minor leaguers not that far off. Miranda / Kepler / Pagan / Araez or one of the LH hitting corner outfielders better be heading that way.

Chaffin would be the only one to get in my opinion. Would love to see the Twins engage with the Marlins about their starting pitchers. Any of them would be ok with me and TWO of them would be amazing. Kepler , Pagan and one of the lh young corner outfielders can go in my opinion. And for the love of god walk away from Correa.

How many millions are the RedSox gonna send along with him?? 10/15/20 million??? Guys a ticking time bomb. If they send 15 million and don't cost us more than Kepler sure go ahead.....but we can find 30/40 innings out of the minors at minimum.......Be a miracle if he pitched 100 innnings. I would never expect him to do more than 5/6 starts with 5/6 innings a start

4 Twins Prospect Debuts to Be Excited About in 2023
HoskenPowell replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I would trade Araez while his value is high....I know this will be unpopular with fan's but he has no real position. He is below average in the field. Low power and will never have more value. With our dire need for arms I would try and get a pair of arms for him. With him gone there would be room for Lewis/Gordon/Martin or Julien.- 32 replies
