  1. I agree with your last comment about Brock and Paddack. Those guys could add quality to our bullpen and make a difference. I am looking forward to how Ober pitches tonight as he could move up to be the 4th playoff starter which I think the Twins will need.
  2. I don't trust Pagan or Jax. I don't think we should forget about Ober and Paddock as well as Stewart (whom you mentioned). Those 3 guys COULD have a significant impact on the bullpen.
  3. 100% yes, Maeda needs to go to the bullpen.
  4. I was one of the guys calling for Kepler's head...but have been happily proven wrong the past two months. That said, I'm still not sure he should be with the team next year in order to make room for the youngsters (probably not Larnach). However, I certainly understand keeping him. Polanco is another story. I love the guy and recognize the value he continues to bring...when he is available. But the years are catching up with Jorge; his injuries are adding up and the Twins have loads of young and veteran infield talent. I personally feel that the Twins should move on for next year.
  5. I think the idea is to use him in low leverage/mop up situations. It's important to have better options for that rather than using our best guys or...position players.
  6. Thank goodness Wallner doesn't have Gallo's track record or the Twins would have to let him go. Gallo's positive track record is ancient history. I also think the Twins should consider Stevenson on the roster as a good situational player. He plays CF and he would be idea to insert as a pinch runner.
  7. I don't think that Ober should be forgotten. He needed rest and could be ready to help.
  8. I can't imagine that Gordon is in the Twins plans for this season. I should think that he needs 3 weeks minimum and the guys on the team (Castro) have earned their keep.
  9. I don't think there is too much to be worried about on that score! I like the other young pieces too with Kirilloff and Julien. But Royce is the centerpiece.
  10. I really love watching Byron Buxton when he is healthy. His athleticism is a thing of beauty and his 5 skill package is incredible. Sadly, another season has passed him by. Unless he miraculously becomes healthy and can contribute, I hope the Twins leave him on the injured list for the remainder of the season and post season. Don't mess up a good thing. With that in mind, I assume the Twins have insurance on Buck's contract. I'm not sure he is going to be viable again. Makes me sad for all of us.
  11. That's fine, but the Angels are classic underachievers and this still doesn't solve the issue in the AL Central.
  12. I assume you are referencing realignment. The problem with that is geography. The 2nd worst division is the NL Central. You could flip Milwaukee and KC and make the two Central divisions more at parity with one another; but it really doesn't solve much. The AL East is still beastly while the rest of the divisions are substantially below that.
  13. If this were last year, I'd want those guys. At this point, I think the Twins stay within the organization and keep moving forward with our young guys.
  14. And no way are the Twins parting ways with Solano this year. They guy can really hit!
  15. I rode his success in April. Endured his oncoming slump in May and dumped him mid June. So bummed about the guy.
  16. Like most, I've been frustrated with Kepler. I am more curious as to whether it was the Twins hitting philosophy which harmed him.
  17. I so agree. That said, there have been some decisions made that I swore were wrong but are bearing fruit. Kepler is playing well. I thought he was done, although I still think they should have dealt him at the deadline given his somewhat increased value (temporary?) I just think the young guys are the ones we need to run with. And...Pagan...I'm speechless that this guy has been so effective.
  18. I love Polanco and he has been great for the Twins. That said, professional sports is a harsh business. We are seeing diminishing performance from Jorge which statistics say will accelerate. The Twins need to make room for all their youngsters who are performing. I've heard folks advocate moving Kirilloff back to the outfield...which isn't a bad idea; however, I think first base might be the best position for Julien.
  19. I agree, that was a very nice play by Royce at 3rd base. I think Solano did a fine job making the catch and keeping his foot on the bag at 1st. Solano was a really smart pick up this spring training. Who knew? The guy can flat out hit.
  20. I pretty much agree with this. Honestly, I was pretty happy at last years trade deadline. I thought the moves they made looked good. We all know they were disastrous. In my defense, I'm neither a GM nor a talent scout; consequently, Falvine are accountable for those moves regardless of how they looked at the time. And I never understood picking up Gallo which seemed(s) like a substitution for another failed slugger...Sano. My biggest beef with the organization is how they managed to allow Buxton to turn from an obvious 5 tool player into a mostly one dimensional player when healthy. To me, this is an organizational failure. It may be irrelevant since Buck can't stay healthy. That makes me sad.
  21. I agree with your thoughts at the top of the house. That said, under all circumstances, I would fire Rocco. His game management is entirely perplexing to me. Additionally, great managers bring out performance greater than you would expect. This team has underperformed...what does that make Rocco?
  22. making an analogy to an event from 36 years ago might not be relevant. So much has changed in baseball since that time.
  23. Maybe trade one of the starters, but not both. And more importantly, they need to break the logjam in the outfield. Kepler should have some value now. He has really stepped up; but I believe that you should buy low and sell high.
  24. He's not going to be the next Arraez which is perfectly fine. His run production is what matters and he is tracking very nicely.
