  1. Relief pitching changes year over year. Not worried about their age.
  2. I sure agree! I also believe that Kirilloff could be an outfield consideration if we can solve first base.
  3. This really is the biggest question. Depending on how much they get, perhaps the Twins could reopen their wallets and make a splash on a starting pitcher. I get that this is unlikely. What is more likely is a move at the trade deadline.
  4. On paper, the bullpen looks to be an area of strength. Moving Varland to the pen as well as our additions, this looks like a deep bullpen with a lot of velocity.
  5. I would have been fine signing Solano rather than Santana. Not unhappy with Santana, but Solano seemingly added more versatility. I kind of think the Twins are done with their moves until the trade deadline. I hope I'm wrong.
  6. ...and I can't say that I trust Bellinger to perform! That's a hard no for Bellinger...imho!
  7. Yes. While Kirilloff's leash may be getting shorter, I think he is a reasonable bet to have a solid season at first base. I've seen comments about Wallner going to 1b...and I laugh because the Twins are thin in the outfield. I think it would be smart to resign Solano and run the same plan as last season at first which was primarily Kirilloff and Solano.
  8. Regarding Varland, while the sample size was small, he appears to be a high end reliver vs. a 4/5 starter. I would prefer to see him in critical relief roles rather than starting. That's part of why I do like the Polanco trade.
  9. Agreed and Solano is a MUCH better option. I think Solano's contributions last year were somewhat underappreciated...just an opinion. He provides depth at first base as well as elsewhere in the infield and I think he is an excellent, relatively inexpensive option.
  10. I agree with your comments. That said, with the infield logjam and other tradeable assets, I do feel the Twins should be able to (and should) trade for a #2 or #3 starter to supplement our starters.
  11. Very happy to see the results thus far for Mauer. As for Gordon, if I were the Twins, I would stick pretty close to their proposed number. The delta is not that great; however, Gordon was terrible before his injury and his role with the Twins has more competition than two years ago.
  12. I fully agree. Polanco has been a great Twin. But it is a professional sports team which means business. Polanco's defensive skills and ability to stay on the field have diminished. He should be traded, while he still has value, as part of a package to bring in a starter.
  13. I admit, I became a Sano "disliker" (I try not to hate...). He seemed to waste his seemingly great talent. Not many have the opportunity to be major league ballplayers and Sano seemingly took it for granted. I think comparing ballplayers is a fools errand. They are all different and hopefully Wallner continues to improve and produce for the Twins. He is fun to watch. And he plays a nice outfield.
  14. I would sign him. He was an extremely valuable player. I like Solano paired with Kirilloff at first base. It was a good combination.
  15. I agree. We are weakened in RF and Kepler is not the answer for CF.
  16. This was indeed a fun season. And I could not understand why Santana was still in the bullpen for much of the season. He was already dominant.
  17. No. Let me restate that; Please no. Put another way; for the love of Shaboom NOOOOO!
  18. I love this response. I would add that unless the Twins know by the end of January that Buxton is a no go for CF, they should stay internal for Centerfield. If this proves to be a failed strategy, then the Twins can make an in season trade to strengthen the position.
  19. The only disagreement I have with this article is that Gordon is surely ahead of Martin for the start of the season. Gordon has much to prove. We can not ignore the dreadful start to last season.
  20. Pagan had a nice season for the Twins...and he did fill a critical role; but I think the Twins have plenty of options to fill the slot.
  21. My feeling is either Farmer or Polanco will be traded. I actually prefer to keep Farmer as he is better defensively and can play all infield positions. Polanco was not good at 3b last year, so he is pretty much limited to 2b and DH.
