  1. As you stated: "put the ball in play" especially with the bases loaded. Hit a fly ball if nothing else and score a run. To have recorded 16 strike outs in 2 of the last 4 games against pitchers with ERA's above 4.85 is pathetic!!
  2. You are 100% correct. With our pitchers success Twins should have a huge lead. Most hitters look clueless! In the last 4 games, the Twins have struck out 16 times in 2 different games---against pitchers with ERA's 4.85 and above. Pathetic!! Put the ball in play!!! It appears the Twins hitting coach is clueless in developing an approach based on the pitcher being faced. A couple weeks ago, the weather was too cold. It's warmed up and they have played on the West coast and the results are the same. Hit strikes and lay off the high plus the low and outside pitches.
  3. As all Twin fans know the offense has been awful so far this season. Time to change hitting coaches??? Going into the season, I thought the team offense, on paper at least, looked like it would be strong. WRONG!!! After 39 games: Team batting average .218----last in the majors. 3rd most strike outs, barely better then the very weak Giants and A's. Statistically the Twins are averaging 7 hits per game---I have a hard time remembering the last time they actually got 7 hits in a game.
  4. You are correct. The lack of hitting is unbelievable. I think the Twins have mustered 17 hits in the last 4 games (they have won 2 of those games).
  5. Twins hitting continues to be pathetic. Coming into the series the White Sox were 8-21. Twins managed only 17 hits in the 3 games. Could have easily been swept.
  6. Twins continue to not hit with runners in scoring position and way too many strike outs. What is the hitting coach doing??? With todays technology there has to be a lot of information on every pitcher they face and the hitting coach should be developing a plan for each batter as they face any pitcher.
  7. I really enjoyed watching Rooker play at Chattanooga with the Twins AA team a few years back. Glad he has gotten an extended opportunity with the A's and continues to play well.
  8. My thought exactly! I wish I would have counted how many swing and misses Twins had at pitches above the strike zone. I'm blaming the hitting coach for the Twins not having a plan when they go to bat. They must have known they were going to see a lot of high fast balls and had to lay off of them.
  9. 194 major leaguers have a stolen base---the same as the entire Twins team. Close to 100 have twice as many or more then the Twins. Since the Twins have only scored more runs then 3 other teams (and the Nationals might pass them at the pace of this series) attempting to get more runners in scoring position sure can't hurt.
  10. And Twins also have the fewest stolen bases and attempted steals: 3 attempts and 1 successful.
  11. Agree 100% about the lack of hitting last year and this year. Maybe its time to change hitting coaches??? And if scoring runs is a problem maybe Twins should be putting more pressure on the other team by running more. With the enlarged bases and limiting pitcher throws to 1st base, stealing should be more of a weapon. As of April 19, the Twins have 1 stolen base as a team! That's pathetic. 194 individual players have at least 1 stolen base----the Twins have 1 as a team.
  12. 100% agree!!!! Gordon barely batting over .100 in the 4th spot and the best hitter so far this year, Larnach, batting 6th (after leading off the day before??????
  13. A lot of "fans" bashed Miranda during spring training that he wasn't a good enough 3rd baseman to hold down the position at the major league level. Yes it's early but he has played great defense so far.
  14. Yes it's still early in the season but where are all the Larnach haters who during spring training constantly bashed him and complained that he shouldn't make the opening day roster????
  15. I agree about the bullpen overuse at times but I believe the Twins bullpen ranked in the top 8 the 2nd half of the season.
  16. The MLB average innings for a starter last year was only 5.2.
