  1. As of today his season 3.48 ERA is better than his career average, his season WHIP of 1.065 worthy of note, and he is 4-1 with 40 strikeouts in 41 innings. My skepticism still runs deep, but he has overall had a positive impact on this team's season. Anyone else want to concede some ground at this point about the FO confidence?
  2. A very thoughtful analysis of an enigma of a player. Not sure how relevant the Jayce Tingler connection is to his performance, but it apparently had an impact on him landing with the team which is interesting. I also thought the signing was a poor fit for this team and still hold that opinion. But, yeah, if he can finish with an 800+ OPS in an injury-impacted season and exhibit the positive qualities pointed out by others here, he may have been an expensive FA to pursue, but one who has proven worthy of pursuit nonetheless.
  3. Love to see all of the positive recognition (with caveats, as always) for the highlights of this game. It certainly makes for a refreshing post-game read. Miranda's only mildly saving grace today was starting a double play, but his error lead to an unearned run and he seems to be flummoxed by average to below average major league pitchers. He needs to go back (assuming an option remains) and figure it out while Castro is limited to the infield with Walner's return so richly earned.
  4. McCusker was in his third season with the Tri-City Valleycats (Troy NY) playing independent ball for former MLB star Pete Incaviglia. This year he has been chasing the league's triple crown leading the Frontier League in HR, RBI. and BA. He graduated in 2021 from Oklahoma State but was undrafted. Supposedly the Twins had visited with him after his freshman year at Folsom Lake (CA) Junior College but things fizzled out when he decided to continue on with his college education and career. A native of Sparks, NV he is reportedly 6'8" and 250 pounds.
  5. Yeah, the Twins/Saints have had a lot of patience and loyalty with Aaron Sanchez. He has served a purpose and filled a role that most likely no other organization would offer him. He seems to have reached the point where he is now blocking others from gaining experience as a AAA starter (maybe even Winder, although he has been used exclusively in the bullpen this season). This needs to be Sanchez's last on-field season for this franchise.
  6. Buxton fighting the "back spasm" pain Saturday may lead to Wallner's return sooner than the trade deadline. Noone ever wants Buxton on the IL (no matter how conditioned we have become to seeing it), but the timing is good for him to focus on getting healed and giving Wallner the shot he has clearly earned.
  7. Monster game for Prato. Even before this game he was off to a hot start since his promotion to the Saints from AA where it would actually be kind to describe his offensive accomplishments as modest. Might be interesting to check in on his progress in a couple of weeks to see if he is still in some measure showing some surprising promise.
  8. Ya'll are so very polite to play along with a headline that begins with an incorrect use of the word "Whose". Who's gonna admit that they noticed this but were just to kind to mention it? It takes a jerk like me to point it out. Love, Horton the hearing elephant.
  9. On a completely different topic......it has been very rare for this franchise over the years to resort to either an opener or bullpen-only pitching strategy. For this I have been very grateful! I don't understand what prompted it to be used for this particular game. but I was totally prepared to complain about it in the post-game summary today. Instead, I am forced to be extremely happy with the results, dammit. Maybe instead I need to complain about why they don't do it more often? Naw, I'll just have to stuff my whining for now until the next time it is tried,....
  10. While technically not mop-up duty when he came into the game, Jorge Lopez turned it into a mop-up appearance before he left the field. After teasing us with a great start to the season, he has now not just supplanted Pagan as a bullpen liability, he has actually exceeded Pagan's ineptitude.
  11. I was trying to understand what Winder had accomplished in St Paul that warranted his call-up. He was definitely the right man at the right time tonight and got rewarded for his effort with this first MLB win of the season.
  12. Hmmm, looks like Rocco is helping to reinforce the scapegoat narrative (for the record, I believe that Kepler trying to take second could potentially cause a very stupid outcome so I have a hard time agreeing Rocco on this) :Twins’ Rocco Baldelli calls out Max Kepler for baserunning blunder after loss to Rays (msn.com)
  13. It's not like he is void of any value like Hicks seemed to be, but it is hard to envision any team willing to exchange much to acquire him. It is hard to watch the two players you mention tearing up AAA. I used to think Willi Castro was an easy demotion and Kepler could maintain his role on the roster. That opinion has proven very, very wrong. If Hicks doesn't stick maybe the Orioles would consider Kepler, but otherwise I do believe that it would benefit the team to DFA.
  14. This story does not mention what or who the Twins received from the Mets, neither is their mention on the Twins' or Mets' transaction histories: Mets Acquire Veteran Infielder From Twins (msn.com) Since White was not on the 40 man roster, is it fair to conclude it was simply a cash consideration of some kind?
  15. Am I the only one that notices the inclusion of Gene Glynn who never played a single game for any MLB team, much less the Twins?
  16. The good news for Dylan Bundy is that he at least found work at the AAA level this season. The bad news for him is that so far he is performing more like "Married With Children" guy Al Bundy: Former top prospect ejected from Triple-A game for 'sticky substance' (msn.com)
  17. Whoa, nice catch on Vargas I has no clue that he was with the Twins in 2020. I really love this list!
  18. Way to capture all of the unique aspects and angles of this game! Ober continues to provide a terrific boost to the success of this team, and after knocking off one jinx against the Yankees this franchise has now seen a second historic jinx ended as well.
  19. C.J. Cron appears to be headed "back" to the IL.....and based on his performance so far this season, it certainly could mean that he never actually fully recovered from the first trip? Rockies Likely To Place C.J. Cron On 10-Day Injured List - MLB Trade Rumors
  20. Okay, I'll bite on the Brad Peacock reference. After finishing a competitive year at AAA with Omaha and the Saints in 2022, whatever happened to him this season? Retired? Unsigned free agent? International ball?
  21. Looks like a big return to the majors for a Littell guy: Red Sox Acquire Zack Littell From Rangers - MLB Trade Rumors
  22. Gary Sanchez is now moving on after not being added to the 40 man roster for the Giants: Former despised Yankee opts out with new team not wanting him (msn.com)
  23. Billy, don't be a hero against the Twins this series: White Sox To Select Billy Hamilton - MLB Trade Rumors Actually, the same could be said for Alex Colome also just added to the roster!
