    I am somewhat confused by all the talk of slotting our young players with promising hit skills into the DH role. If you're going to employ a dedicated DH, it should be a spot for experienced ML hitters whose defensive side is in decline. There is something wrong with our farm system if it continues to develop so many young players who can hit but have no defensive skill.

    Nice quote from Solano that several teams were interested and he chose the Twins on reputation. Hopefully that reputation continues to grow with higher level FAs as well!

    When talking about a negative outlier, the phrasing should be reversion to the mean.

    Is anyone talking about how the rule changes will affect the early season? I think younger teams would have the advantage initially since more of their players are familiar with the pitch clock. If you watched Varland or SWR work last year, their faster pace was apparent and very much part of their pitching style. The effect will diminish over time but I think it will a factor in April.

    Perhaps this will allow him to have a long, productive career in professional baseball! The current philosophy of encouraging young pitchers to be flamethrowers is craziness and creating an endless line of pitchers sidelined by shoulder and elbow issues.

    There is a difference between being consumers of a product and shareholders of a company. Shareholders are exposed operational information.. We are consumers. Consumers receive product information via press releases and advertising. While we may be extremely emotionally invested, we are not actual investors... Putting on fireproof hat now.

    There doesn't seem to have been a lot of mention of the affect Covid has had on players. They may be back playing after a couple of weeks, but many seem to take months to return to form. I think it had something to do with CC4's slow first half last year as well.

    I am totally sold on Gordon! Learning a new defensive position while still being the 2nd best hitter on the team! That screams baseball talent!

    This sounds like insanity! Are pitchers being coached to stress their arms and bodies beyond what is physically sustainable? I don't have any knowledge on the matter, just putting the question out there.

    That is an excellent way to maximize return with limited resources... as long as your good decisions outnumber the poor ones.

    Alex, you are spot on! Correa did not agree to spend his remaining career with the Twins without addressing competitiveness. Having been a Twins fan for longer than I will admit, it has been a roller coaster of good, ugly and amazing baseball. We've been in the ugly the last couple of years. But I think the future is bright... might even have to change my profile name 🤩

    I think stealing is an example of how analytics break down. There is an unmeasurable factor where the threat of a steal changes the behavior and focus of the other team. When Buxton is on base, the pitcher is less focused on the batter and the infielders make worse decisions. It is disruptive. Now that all the teams use analytics, the advantage goes to teams that can exploit these "breaks".

    I think the thing that irritates about Dobnak is that the FO so seldom makes these contracts, and this one went south. If they had made a dozen of these and one went bad, it would be cost of doing business.
