    Agree! Starting Miranda v. LH pitching ahead of Santana at 1B won’t happen. Pretty sure they’ll give the veterans (Margot/Farmer) an inordinate amount of time to regress back to their norms ……….no real logical reason not to if the guys supplanting them are inconsistent young guys like Wallner & Julien……,hope it happens at some point and those two “force themselves” back in to the MLB roster. As an aside, Vazquez isn’t going anywhere until the end of ‘25. If Jeffers were to get nicked up the Team can’t have the “fallback position” only be guys currently in AAA.

    So the move is the clear cut correct one in my opinion. Even if Lewis wasn’t coming back, Julien needs to refresh his approach. I think most of it is between his ears with approach but I’m not an MLB player - just seems he has the capabilities to overcome adjustments the League has made against him as well as his 2 strike mindset. I think you are saying above that Castro will play LF & Farmer at 2B v. LH pitching? I think Farmer will be in games more or at least sooner as circumstances evolve in the games. I do think this is an opportunity for Farmer to prove his worth, or without an improvement, it further justifies his DFA move in the future. How about Miranda? He won’t let up - looks more polished all the time - nice aggressive approach! I do not see Miranda DHing more, or better said, ahead of Larnach at DH v. right handed pitching. I think Santana & Kirilloff will continue to get 95% of the reps at 1B……,Miranda pinch hits couple times per week …….starts at 3B once or twice to ease Lewis into regular time…….DH once or twice. I think getting Kepler some regular rest with Kirilloff & Larnach (occasionally) in the corners could happen going forward with Lewis at DH or 3B along with Miranda. Do not see Jeffers kicking up time much at Catcher this early in the year. His hitting drop has come from regression to the norm but his playing nearly every day probably has an affect as well. He may pinch hit a little more with the ability to come in and catch late in Vazquez starts………bottom line is Staff is doing well, Vazquez is part of that, don’t see pushing Jeffers with 100 games left to play. He may catch 53 - 50 with Vazquez here on out but not much more, IMO. Kepler pinch hit for fellow LH hitting Julien the other day……..I could see Jeffers coming up to pinch hit for Vazquez after the 5th in a key situation. Tough for Vazquez but he’d still be getting time/starts & working with the rotation on the regular.

    The change of atmosphere - pressure - competition level - absolute “need” to perform that a guy feels in the Show changes in St. Paul. It’s not about X’s &O’s of the swing. …….try to relax a bit - build some confidence - feel you can get it done. I like the rotating pitcher idea - resting Paddack (IL stint) & then possibly SWR (optioned) as well by sending a guy (Festa, Varland) up to pitch and then back down, as Mr. Bell suggests….as I type though, it seems the roster swell on the day the AAA guy pitches creates the same 27 man total, if there are 14 position players - right? Seems to ME that Julien is the logical guy relative to plate performance and need of a refresh.

    Tired arm ….. arm strain……bad back…….he “could” have a whole bunch of things bothering him.

    30-24 is 90 W’s on the nose. ……Duran, Thielbar, Stewart, Correa, Buxton, & LEWIS all hurt at various points. Wallner - Farmer - Vazquez all being essentially offensive no-shows. Along with DeSclafani & Topa never touching the ball & the Varland 0-4 debacle…….to be 32-25 as of tonight is a really nice accomplishment!

    IMO - he threw a bunch of pitches in his last outing before he was sent down…..he would have been unavailable for 3-4 days. He has options so he gets moved. Also, he was still walking too many guys through his first two stints with big club. Looks focused and very effective in first two outings since getting back this week!

    Santana makes a really good play or two every other game at 1B……completely agree, offensive position though! I just think he needs to play v. LH pitching for sure and on defense as needed from there. RH pinch hitter as well. With Wallner hitting zero & Larnach being hurt early, forced Santana to start v. RH pitching - then Buxton went down & Castro had to play CF & Kirilloff in right. The $$ are spent on Santana and that carries some weight. …….Kirilloff could play as much as 65% of games at 1B if desired. Miranda, if the goal is to platoon him at 1B with Kirilloff going forward, needs to PLAY 1B in St. Paul to learn the position to become adequate defensively. He can work there in the winter and in Spring Training. To me, learning a position in the Show when your Team is in a Pennant race/Division race is not a good idea. If Julien goes down, Miranda as key pinch hitter - 3B twice a week - DH twice a week…… that’s 17-18 AB’s per week - projects to 306 more AB’s……,gets him into high teens for homers and a chance to show consistency.

    Santana was supposed to be late inning D, pinch hitter, & everyday 1B v. LH pitching. Wallner absolutely collapsed, Buxton out hurt, so Kirilloff has to play Left field v. RH pitching & Larnach is DH - gotta fill out the line-up with Santana hitting left handed at 1B. If Buxton can play CF & Castro can man left field - Kirilloff at 1B - Larnach as DH v. RH pitching, it’s all good!! To me, for a brief 3-4 week reset, Julien is the guy to go down. He hasn’t hit a HR since April 25th!!! Miranda plays 3B twice a week and is DH once or twice per week - couple shots at pinch hitter if appropriate. That’s his level right now. Putting a poor defender at 1B isn’t smart.

    Kirilloff has 5 HR & 14 XBH total Santana has 7 HR & 13 XBH total Guerrero has 5 HR & 15 XBH total Castro has 4 HR & 19 XBH total Guerrero has been on a big heater for last, roughly 14 days, and his average has shot up to .295 with a couple of 4 hit games - commendable. Seems to me he blends right in above with our middle of the pack to lower end guys! Where’s the “thump”? He’s been criticized all of last year and the first 6-7 weeks of this year for underperforming & inconsistency. Don’t see the attraction and the potential issue signing him after ‘25.

    Jorge has been emotionally uneven since he came into my vision in summer of ‘22. I hope he can get stabilized and back into the game at some point in the near future……..he seems to need some help.

    Jeffers IS a lesser defensive catcher. Real stuff. Jeffers has been spiraling downward at the plate. Having him catch MORE doesn’t seem to be the prudent move. Jeffers has had a bunch of opportunity at the plate as DH (on his days off behind the plate) & he can’t play every day……,the whole basis of playing in a platoon.

    Somebody needs to “gift” Jeffers some success at the plate……..down 65 points from 15 days ago……he is struggling Big Time. Did anyone see Vazquez throw out the tying run in the 9th inning???

    I don’t think he is catching MORE games. When have they not strictly alternated games this year? If he does catch more often than “he’s deserving” it’s so Jeffers can/could DH. Jeffers can’t catch and DH……. he also can’t play every day. Threw out go ahead run in 9th last night. He’s been nothing but very solid on defense. He makes $10M per year, not $15, per a couple comments. Also, he’s not going anywhere!! What happens if they let him go with some creative move (can’t dump his salary to anyone in the game - right?) & 2 weeks later Jeffers gets hurt. We have a Team ready to win with ZERO EXPERIENCE at catcher. Camargo hasn’t shown he’s really any different hitter than Vazquez in the Show. Gotta have depth and live with the positives along with the negatives.

    Farmer - Vazquez - Margot all had hits in the same inning…………some loooong odds on that ever happening!! Buxton - 2 for 2 with a Triple & 2 walks & stolen base………. he was fantastic!!! Ooozing just like Witt.

    Shade on Vazquez - why? 9th inning and the guy is the tying run……,,,,It’s the Royals “base stealer” and obviously, the throw was in time. CC caught the ball……,his intuition to let himself just fall to the runner to make the quickest tag was commendable!! Great play by both guys.

    Not great to push a guy who has already been in the edge this year(caution as you say). Can’t imagine it. …….Possibly, could risk it to end an inning with 2 outs in the bag - still risky. Probably don’t want him even warming up hard.

    All good! ……Pretty sure, if Team finishes as LAST Wild Card spot, they play the lowest Division winner ……I assume whoever wins the West…..Seattle now? Top 2 Division Winners get a bye. Top 2 Wild Cards play ——- lowest Wild Card plays weakest Division Winner. Gotta beat Cleveland at some point though! Too early to get too wound up about this…….if Cleveland goes 1 game over .500 rest of season - fathomable, they end up 91-71. Possible?? ……..Twins, without Lewis and having the DeSclafani/Varland debacle behind them, are on pace to win 90.

    Jax & Duran & Alcala are definitely out today!! 3 guys with 4 days rest in Thielbar - Castillo - Okert ……Sands was off last night. Gotta piece it together. Vazquez throwing out their “base stealer” in the 9th was HUGE!!

    Castro at 2B?? Addition by subtraction should work with Julien at this point. .146 in May & no HR’s since April 25th. Kirilloff - Buxton - Kepler ….Lewis - CC - Castro/Farmer - Santana - Jeffers/Vazquez - Larnach - Miranda - Margot (Lee & Kiersey by June 20-30th?) Once Lewis is back, days away, I just don’t see Miranda in the line-up v. RH pitching …….that’s 75% of the time. He seems to be the likely demotion as I think they’ll give Margot another month.

    He’s hit .146 over the month of May…….he had 7 HR’s by April 25th……..he still has 7 HR’s. Practicing defense in offseason and Spring Training didn’t detract from his hitting the first 4 weeks …….can’t imagine it kicked up after having early success……he needs to go down and try to find himself.

    Pretty sure Lee hasn’t seen St. Paul yet …….if he was 4-5 somewhere much higher than the Florida Coast League it would be a headline. Saints don’t play again until today or tomorrow……,assuming they want Lewis to play a couple more games, and I agree, they need to call him up by Thursday-Friday…..sure hope so anyway.

    Agreed, not as strong as it should/could be. Duran gave up game losing HR’s twice on his curveball…….,am hoping these were more of an outlier. Jackson, in 6 appearances from May 5 to May 18 he had 4 games in which he gave up 2 runs - 3 runs - 2 runs - 4 runs. He’s no longer an option and that should help some.

    He doesn’t throw a slider which is the “back foot” pitch..….his curve is supposed to break downward and not 1.5 feet to the left…..he didn’t release it & pulled the pitch into the batter’s box, so wildly it hit the guy’s front foot. Regardless, it’s the pitch (curve) that got hit out of the park twice in the same weekend to end games. He’s pitching to their absolute worst hitter and is up with an 0-2 count…..the guy had no chance. Seems somebody wants to look cool by fooling hitters with his curve v. just getting outs effectively. The batter is hitting 20 points less than Margot - you CAN’T hit him!!!
