  1. You don't like Polanco. You don't like Kirilloff. Do you just want the current Twins to play all year with their current lack of hitting? What's your solution?
  2. Ober two straight great games. He's ready if needed. Kirilloff has been getting a bunch of hits. Polanco is playing every day. Winder is with the Saints. There's 4 guys who are ready to help the Twins by May. Enlow with another decent outing. I liked his strike rate. Keirsey with a clutch homer late to tie it. He is great base stealer and has good raw power. He plays CF. I just think he is someone that could make the majors someday. He has some tools. Lee and Severino with homers to win it for the Wind Surge. Miller yet another 2 hit game. Wow.
  3. If the Twins hitters don't get going against these Boston pitchers, the concern for our hitting will be real.
  4. Twins won this trade. Maeda helped get the Twins to the playoffs and almost won the Cy Young and was very good until the injury. Grateral has been okay to good for the Dodgers. I thought Camargo would make this trade even better but he has started off very slow for the Saints. He does catch about as much as anyone in the Twins system as almost nobody catches 4 games a week (Winkel with Wichita being the exception) in the Twins minor league system.
  5. Great write-up. Didn't realize Stevenson had such a good week for the Saints. What's up with Severino only playing three games? He should be playing at least 5 every week. Minor injury? Prielipp's injury has to be the most depressing news. Hey, when do the rest of the guys in extended spring training get going with games?
  6. Nobody else answered this yet so you get a non-expert. End of June is my guess for going to St. Paul. For the Twins, the Farmer injury does make a path for Brooks to go to the Twins if either Correa or Miranda get hurt and Farmer is out a long time. Some people have never liked Miranda and want him sent to St. Paul. I am not one of them. If Brooks goes to the Twins, it will be before the end of June because of an injury, because Farmer isn't back and Royce Lewis isn't ready yet. And, in that situation, I don't think the Twins would be afraid of jumping him from AA to the Twins. They would plan to send him back to St. Paul when the injury to whomever is healed unless he pulls an Arraez and hits so well that they keep him. Anyone else want to guess?
  7. Look at Zebby Matthews, even better than the last game - 5 IP, no hits, 1 BB, 7 SO. Why did Will Holland pitch, anyone know? 2 outs in the 9th, down 11-5 and Scherf went 2/3's of an inning and hadn't given up a run. Weird, unless Scherf got hurt.
  8. Following up on the Wichita catchers - this week, Winkel played catcher for 4 games, Nigro 1 and Isola 1. Isola played 5 games, 2 at DH, 2 at 1B and 1 at C. This is consistent with last year. Isola will not be a major league catcher, to our disappointment.
  9. "to see team doctors for evaluation of surgically repaired left elbow."
  10. So surprised when he is 5 for 12 with 3 rbi's on the road this weekend, at Yankee Stadium against pitchers who are cheating, and playing decent defense lately. We should put Willi Castro there, who most wanted to be with the Twins because ST #'s mean so much. Miranda is one of our better players and he isn't going anywhere.
  11. They are all good to me. The aggressive assignments all have some struggles (E-Rod with batting average). E-Rod leads the team (maybe the league) in RBI's. He walks, strikes out, and hits extra base hits. No singles yet this year. He seems to be a clutch player, getting big time hits when needed.
  12. Brutal starting pitching - Hidalgo allowed no hits but walked 6 and hit a batter in less than 2 innings, someho9w giving up only one run. SWR, Dobnak (in relief) and Rozek were the reverse, throwing strikes that got hit all over the park. Olivares in Fort Myers was the exception. I think it was his debut in Class A and 5 innings with 2 hits and a BB. I'm watching him this year. Some guys are really struggling with the bat (SSS I know) - Camargo with the Saints, Holland and Prato with the Wind Surge, Salas and Urbina with the Kernels and De Andrade with the Mighty Mussels.
  13. Dennis Santana DFA'd by the Mets.
  14. I'm surprised. What do you do if Pablo Lopez gets knocked out in the first inning on Sunday like the Yankee starter did? No long relief and Alcala is now most likely unavailable. You end up burning the entire pen unless throw Pagan until his arm falls off. I guess if Maeda really isn't hurt, he could go long relief and Varland pitches in turn in the rotation.
  15. Yes he was. Not on the IL so hopefully it wasn't anything to do with that. Edit: And now he has indeed been put on the IL. Bummer!
  16. Look at that roster. It's stacked. You have 4 guys drafted as SS's - Miller, Salas, Schobel, and Ross. They are taking up 2B, 3B and SS. Cavaco is probably now projected lower than any of these guys and gets 1B. If anyone is going to complain about the Twins drafting him in the 1st round, we should also be giving credit for drafting the Julien's and Festa's in the double digit rounds.
  17. Nice pitching from the starters tonight - Sanchez, Adams (great bounceback), Carr and Lewis (another good bounceback). The prospects the major league teams like always bat near the top of the order on the minor league teams. Poor Dalton Shuffield. He hits good everywhere including with the Saints as he filled in last September. Hitting .385 for Fort Myers, he bats 8th. So early in his minor league career and he already appears destined to be a career minor leaguer at best.
  18. I love Julien but bringing two LH batters back, I'm thinking we need guys who can hit RH's. I think Garlick stays until Polanco returns. Gordon, Kepler and Julien can't hit RH's IMO (and Larnach and Gallo aren't exactly great at it) and, with Buxton at DH, one of the catchers is also on the bench.
  19. .433 WPA for Correa. I don't always pay attention to that but it sure seems like a lot for one game. Garlick is a half tool (not sure that's what you call a guy who is only great at hitting LH pitching) but if you don't make him do anything else, he sure does that well.
  20. If I remember correctly, the radio announcers said he looked healthy taking batting practice in New York. I think Gordon will get plenty of time to improve and he is very valuable in being able to play a lot of positions. If he would just quit swinging at most every first pitch. The pitchers know this.
  21. Great start by Kyle Jones and another good one by Festa. The Wichita bullpen sure makes the starters #'s look bad as the last two nights they allow all of the runners they inherit to score. And I like Hunter McMahon but he was terrible. Balazovic pitches in relief again. Wonder if he's just building up after the broken jaw or if that is where he is going to be this year. At least he did okay this time.
  22. Nobody's talking about Rocco pulling starters in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings now as the quality of our staff is so much better. That makes the bullpen better. The end of the pen pitchers throw more in blowouts and best guys pitch in the close games. Keep it up Twins!
