  1. Yup, a 5.5 game lead is more than enough, IMO. Sweeping this doubleheader solidified it. Just think about it, if things went wrong today, we'd have just a 1.5 game lead. Just fantastic baseball, boys. Rosario, Cruz, and Sano were all in the midst of slumps and came through, and every single pitcher except Thorpe did their jobs today. Well played, everyone! What did I say about playing games on the road? It just seems to cure this team's woes. They are 26 games above .500 on the road and just 8 above in home games.
  2. I don’t understand where this demand for Kirilloff is coming from, he hit .756 OPS against AA pitching this year. If they called him up now, I’d expect a sub .700 OPS from him. I don’t understand Lamarre on the roster, though... they should have at least gotten somebody who was hitting well at AAA, like De Aza.
  3. Or maybe it’s just too early for these guys - remember how we rushed Hicks and Buxton to the majors before they were ready? I would have called up Rooker, he should be healthy now.
  4. Let's not forget that the final 10 games of the season are going to be against the 2 worst teams in baseball. The division is in hand, I'm just worried that they're not going to be capable of winning a playoff series.
  5. I don’t see the point of this with Miller already on the roster, but this spot won’t be playoff eligible so it means nothing.
  6. Ervin had about 3 more seasons under contract that were 100% guaranteed, so they had no option but to bring back Ervin unless they were interested in burning all that money. But yeah, this'll definitely drive the price down on him. A repeat suspension would be for a full season, so that will turn off his suitors.
  7. There’s two ways to calculate it - record against currently winning teams, and record against winning teams by their latest record / final record. I think most use the latter option as it’s far easier to calculate.
  8. Good win, boys. With a 6.5 game lead on the division, I think we have this wrapped up for good this time. Meanwhile, Oakland is just a half game back on Cleveland. Not a great spot for the Indians, getting swept by Tampa was huge.
  9. Yeah, Diaz and Davis were traded at peak value, I’d say. Going back further, the Twins sold high on Jermaine Palacios when they shipped him out for Odorizzi. Palacios’ stock has plummeted since the trade, as he’s been stuck in the .500 OPS range for two years now.
  10. Off the top of my head: Lineup: RF Kepler, SS Polanco, DH Cruz, LF Rosario, 3B Sano, 2B Arraez, CF Buxton, C Garver, 1B Cron Bench: UTL Gonzalez, C Castro, 2B Schoop, UTL Adrianza Starters/Primaries: SP Berrios, SP Odorizzi, SP Pineda, LHP Perez, RHP Gibson Relievers: LHP Rogers, RHP Romo, RHP Dyson, RHP May, RHP Duffey, RHP Littell, RHP Graterol I would flip Cave for Schoop if there are no lefty starting pitchers to face. I wanted to keep Gibson off the list... but he'll be there. Methinks Littell and Graterol will earn spots with some nice pitching in September.
  11. Yeah... things aren't looking good. At this point you just have to hope he can hit the reset button over the offseason and hope for the best... I wonder... would Romero have any trade value over the offseason? Like, as a reclamation project? I know they wouldn't get much for him, but they may have to DFA him next Spring and get less for him then... I doubt this happens, but it's a possibility. More likely is that he would be a throw-in on a offseason trade for a starting pitcher (headlined by a much better prospect, of course).
  12. I think you’re missing the point, I think the article is trying to say that his 2019 could go similarly to Price’s rookie year. I don’t think it was the point to say that Graterol will be the next Price.
  13. I’ve been pounding the table for about a year now to have Alcala move to the bullpen. Just reading the initial scouting reports on him, it seemed he was destined to be a reliever. He was a top 10 prospect for the astros, so I wouldn’t say he’s a ‘gem’, unless that translates to ‘stud reliever’.
  14. Taking 2 out of 3 against Detroit is acceptable... now go beat the White Sox this time. Being on the road should help. The Indians will also be on the road against Detroit and Tampa Bay this week... that Tampa series will be big for them, as the Rays are just a half game back from them. Also worth mentioning is that the A's are just a single game behind Cleveland too.
  15. With Graterol, Alcala, and Colina all at AAA now, the flamethrowers are moving their way up - I hope to see these guys help in 2020... and also have Brusdar help the 2019 squad to, of course.
  16. We could really use Duran in the rotation... here's hoping he can break through to the majors in late 2020.
  17. Drew VerHagen is starting today for Detroit, not Boyd. That’s great news, so we had better win this one!
  18. We need to interview some As fans to determine if Robbie is doing as well in LF as the stats claim he is.
  19. He has a passion for coaching and it was a chance to get his old buddies together one last time. He should have been aware that this team was going to be bad for a few years...
  20. I didn't get that impression, they used him pretty heavily this season and had him in the #3 and #4 spot in the lineup every once in a while. Baldelli certainly appeared to like him as a utility guy.
  21. Just from my uninformed opinion... I have a hard time seeing a team picking Javier with how poorly he's hit. He won't have any chance against MLB pitchers and would be hard to carry on a 26 man roster. Celestino is borderline, but my gut is they could sneak him through unprotected. Not sure if he has enough upside to be worth a rule 5 pick at this juncture.
  22. Rowson deserves a promotion or something... I know the juiced ball has helped, but the ABs our boys are taking out there have improved drastically this season. Rowson deserves some credit!
  23. Don’t forget that the Twins have an extra year of Dyson, which I would guess is what made the trade cost Davis. It’s still hard to say whether Davis is going to hit MLB pitching, and hopefully he’ll get a shot to do so in September.
  24. Seems like this Twins team is better on the road. And it appears they’ve won 8 more games on the road... not sure why.
  25. I thought this was one of those satire pieces at first. Tom, I thought you only wrote legitimate pieces!
