    I like the Ozuna addition. He seems like a guy who can still play in the outfield, which is fine since Buxton is usually hurt. Probably not a CF though. We need a bat like his to replace Cruz. Kluber for $10M?! He was already on the decline once Cleveland moved on from him, then he had shoulder surgery... I don't know if I'd give him anything more than a minor league deal. I would not be a fan of the bullpen if they trot this unit out with zero additions. Smeltzer and Waddell opening in the pen? Yikes.

    I like the claiming of Waddell - he looks like the classic starter moved to reliever and got much better results. Once he moved to relieving in AAA in 2019, his K/9 jumped up considerably. He got hurt by the juiced ball of 2019, but they should keep working on him as a reliever and see if he can eventually pan out. He's got 2 options remaining, which is a very nice thing to have. Gibaut looks like a bigger project to me, as he's always been a reliever from his first days in the minors, but he's consistently had problems with walks for a good chunk of his career. He's got one option year left, so that's nice, but it will be difficult to fix him. There's really nothing to lose here with these two, and there's no guarantee they'll be on the 40 man roster all winter/spring. They should certainly not be treated as replacements to Clippard/Romo/May, but more of Littell. And thankfully neither are out of options, so they can be stashed in AAA if need be.

    I like Littell, but I'd go with a MILB deal. I don't think he'll be taken in the Rule 5 draft, and even if he was, it wouldn't be a big deal. It was telling that no MLB team claimed him he was DFA'd...

    I'd like to try and get Cruz and Clippard back. I do want May back, but multi-year reliever deals so rarely work that I'd be cautious.

    Why would the worst team in baseball move a good starter for one year, $10M of Rosario?

    In a normal offseason I think Rosario gets tendered, but now it's really hard to see happening. Especially not with 3 1st round OFs nearing MLB readiness.

    With how close it was, I don’t think we win the division without Randy and/or Ryan. We don’t use pitcher wins very often here since it’s so heavily linked to run support and wins can be erased by the bullpen (see Maeda’s no hitter bid). Baseball reference has Randy at 0.4 WAR and Ryan at 0.3. It’s certainly a close call between the two.

    With Kepler and Polanco's contracts, the Twins would be getting back several players for them, and likely not a single veteran reliever.

    I dunno... even when Thorpe was giving up less walks and generated far more strikeouts in 2019, he was still getting hit hard. He simply throws too soft, doesn't have a great breaking ball, and had zero command (2020). I suppose he's a guy they could try moving to the bullpen full-time to see if he can get his fastball up a few notches, but at this point he has to be a DFA candidate. This FO gave up on Stephen Gonsalves rather quickly, and Thorpe might be in the same boat.

    I'm not sure what you were measuring there (discipline/swinging at pitches out of the zone), but I thought you flipped 120 for 210 ABs.

    Yeah, Robbie Grossman is who I thought of as a comp for Wade. So far he hasn't hit well enough in the majors and has showed very little pop in the bat, so at best he's Grossman-lite. He'll walk a whole lot if given the chance, and appears to be a decent fielder at corner OF, but he's just depth at the moment. Kiriloff and Larnach will likely supplant him in 2021.

    I think Rooker will likely end up at 1B, and he's never played 3B/2B/SS before. He's going to be a below average fielder if he does play in LF or RF. I wouldn't count out Larnach making an impact in 2021, as he's done nothing but crush every level he's played at. I see him as a slightly better prospect than Kiriloff, who should also be in contention for a role early on. I wouldn't pencil in Lewis into a utility role to start off, I think he needs to prove he can hit at AAA. I'd like the Twins to sign a veteran who can play SS to replace Adrianza and try out the internal options for Marwin's spot (Blankenhorn, if Gordon is still around).

    If we lose Cruz, our offense is definitely going to suffer. Getting that type of production is rare, especially as he was our only hitter doing anything in the playoffs. I will understand the move if they think regression is coming... perhaps they could consider signing Michael Brantley from the Astros? That might be the only way to get a true replacement for him (minus the pop, but could play some LF/RF).

    Marwin was abysmal at the plate this year, and his best years in Houston were inflated by cheating. He is a quality defender at several spots, but we can't afford to have another black hole in the lineup. I'd certainly entertain Igelsias as an Adrianza replacement, and then go Blankenhorn/other internal option as a replacement for Gonzalez. (They may have to pay Iglesias a decent amount after he hit like crazy for the Orioles and is a quality fielder at SS. He hit .956 OPS this year even with little power! Impressive.)

    We had compiled some very long lists of baffling decisions Molitor has made back in the day. Baldelli's coaching hasn't been all that different IMO, outside of having a quicker hook on starters (Molly, on the other hand, would keep the starters in waaay too long) and resting players more frequently. I do think a manager's impact on the game is overrated, and the players need to go out there and player better. No matter the poor bullpen decisions on Rocco's part, they had no chance of winning that series when their offense scored 2 runs in 18 innings against the mediocre 29-31 Astros.

    It was a fun nickname, but it's time to move on. Having strong hitters who can consistently hit HRs is a viable strategy, but when most everyone is swinging for the fences and consistently coming short, then it's a problem.

    I didn't like seeing Berrios get pulled so early, but it wasn't the main reason we lost - this offense had no chance of winning this game with the amount of pathetic ABs they took. There were so many hittable pitches that they missed, even Cruz got a meatball right down the middle and he fouled right off. I'd say the players are mostly the issue, these guys aren't hitting when they need to! Other teams' lineups have been jumping all over good pitching so far in the playoffs, yet the Twins hitters don't have a clutch bone in any of their bodies outside of Cruz. Couldn't even hit a single HR, despite their moniker as the bomba squad! Rocco certainly did a poor job managing things, but you can't win ballgames when your offense scores 1 run per game.

    They have some hitters who are close to ready. Kiriloff and Larnach in the OF, Rooker ideally as a 1B, Blankenhorn as a utility guy. Jeffers looks ready. Lewis needs to prove he can hit, but if he takes a step forward in 2021 he will be close. The pitching prospects seem to be a bit further off.

    I think Polanco can be fixed. He seemed to have some pretty obvious mechanical issues when hitting left-handed, and I think if attended to, he could be back to his usual self in 2021. Kepler is simply an enigma and I'm tired of Sano.

    I believe it was mentioned earlier that Wade was recently optioned and couldn't be brought up unless an injury happened. I didn't think that limitation would hold for the playoffs, but if it is true then it makes sense to have Kiriloff rather than no 5th OF. I have a soft spot for Tortuga but putting him on the team over Alcala makes zero sense to me.

    This front office has improved the squad leaps and bounds over the past regime, and has entrenched this team as a very good team the last two seasons. The farm system has been fixed, we're seeing a trend in consistently improving pitchers' potentials, and they've made some smart moves on the market. That being said, we ain't in this to win divisions. We need to be a World Series contender. Underachieving in the playoffs should not be tolerated. I'm hoping to see some more willingness to trade prospects for players who can be difference makers in the postseason. I hope Rocco can improve his abilities as a manager and learn from the mistakes that have happened in the past.

    Ugh... I'm not even mad. I really did expect the Twins to set the all-time consecutive playoff loss record, but against the 29-31 Astros? 1 run on 4 hits? I keep hearing that this isn't the team that has lost 17 consecutive postseason games, but they sure do play like it! And for all the talk of adding postseason experience to the team so that we'd play better now that we're here... I don't see how it helps on a game-to-game basis. Romo may have been on 3 WS winning squads, but that didn't help us today.

    Kiriloff makes sense knowing that Wade couldn’t be brought up, and was going to take a 40 man spot in November. Alcala being off the roster... why?! He’s been pretty darn good. I guess they don’t trust a rookie to relieve, as Littell and Stashak got hit up in last year’s playoffs.
