  1. The general lack of clutch hitting has caused many of the recent losses - you don't deserve to win a game you score just one run in. Not to mention they had a golden opportunity in the 10th and couldn't get it done.
  2. Whoa... Lance Lynn has been kicking butt lately? Ugh. Pitchers can fluctuate between good and bad seasons pretty easily, it seems.
  3. I would guess some of their struggleshave to do more with the juiced ball in AAA rather than making it to the majors too early. Both are having some major control issues... the Twins have struggled with developing pitchers for a long time now.
  4. Well, getting guys on base isn't the problem for this squad, it's getting them in. The RISP hitting has been very disappointing for about the past 2-3 weeks now. I would be fine with DFA'ing Morin and getting a reliever with options up, so we can continue to move guys up and down who have options. Since we're probably a couple weeks away from any trades, maybe get a guy like Stashak or Reed up here and give them some chances?
  5. I'll compile a quick list for you of players (some may be borderline): Travis Blankenhorn Brusdar Graterol Jorge Alcala Griffin Jax Tom Hackimer Jhoan Duran Wander Javier Gilberto Celestino Luis Rijo Players who were already Rule 5 eligible but are having good years Lewin Diaz (has been eligible for the 2017 & 2018 rule 5 drafts!) Cody Stashak Jaylin Davis Colina does not need to be added until the 2020 offseason.
  6. Look like it's that time of the week where I ask the Twins to move Alcala to the pen. Yikes, now that's a bad start. Jaylin Davis is crushing it so well I would like to see him get a shot soon... but I'd also like to see Rooker and Wade get chances too. We have some solid OF prospects.
  7. I have to be concerned with Lewis... he's had nearly a full season at A+ and his hitting numbers are bad. It seems he still needs to work on his swing, which isn't something your top prospect should be dealing with. Kiriloff, on the other hand, isn't killing it right now but I'm still very confident in him. Let's see if he can catch fire in the second half and start razing AA.
  8. I think this move within the division is absolutely do-able and the Twins have the room to pay his salary in 2020. I like the way his numbers are trending, so I'd be very happy if they could make this move.
  9. Thorpe looked pretty impressive today, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him again. He ended up with the loss, but Duffey actually lost this one today. Plus we could use a little more clutch hitting from our batters...
  10. Well, Romo's K/BB ratio is way better than it was last year... and that's about the end of the positives. No thanks!
  11. I've heard this stomach ailment is something Adrianza has suffered since he was a child, so perhaps "ailment" isn't the right term for it.
  12. Compared to most teams, the Twins may have the healthiest pitching staff. Has anyone outside of Pineda and Mejia hit the IL this season?
  13. With all of the injuries to the hitters and the tired bullpen, I'd be fine if we could play .500 ball until the All-Star Break and then get hot after that. Stay healthy boys and try to take 2 out of 3 against the Whities.
  14. Schoop has started to slump as of late but I would wait things out. I think it'd be wise to have Schoop play out his deal and hit free agency in 2020. Defensively Schoop has been panned by the advanced metrics, but he's been a good fielder in previous years so I wouldn't be surprised if he regresses to the mean and plays better. I have no idea what to do with Sano, and sending him to AAA is a legitimate option at this point. I wouldn't trade him during the season, though.
  15. Thorpe is in a funny spot as he's letting in a lot of runs, but I'm surprised how high his strikeout count is with his fastball topping out in the low 90s. With 2020 as his last option year, the clock is ticking and he's going to be out of options before they know it. I'm not sure what to do with Nick Gordon. I think he's definitely tradeable with our current stock of middle infielders and they wouldn't be moving him at a time when his stock is low. Arraez is a stud and should be a starter in 2020. I think he could legitimately be a .300 hitter in the majors with his penchant for hitting so many singles. He's a great fit for our lineup full of boom (HR) and bust (K) potential.
  16. I can't say I know what the plan with Alcala is. They've kept him as a starter at AA, but I really think he'd do well in the bullpen. I don't think they made the trade with the thought that Alcala would be in the majors in 2019. What I don't get is that they never tried to shore up the bullpen. We traded Pressly, Rodney, and Duke and only added Parker... what was the plan? Was it the plan to hope Ryne Harper broke out into a good MLB reliever, to hope Hildenberger would rebound from a rough 2018? Why did they both to give Matt Belisle 25 outings last season, and why did they give Oliver Drake 19 outings and then just DFA him after he looked great? I've liked Falvey & Levine's plan for the hitters and the starters... but I can't understand what they're doing with the pen.
  17. Have you returned to the future and you're telling us that Alcala and Celestino flame out, or are you just assuming that? Methinks Alcala is going to be a solid MLB reliever for the Twins at some point. The Astros likely won the trade but it won't be so bad if Alcala ends up as a high-leverage arm in the Twins pen in the future.
  18. I'm thinking Littell might stick in the majors as a reliever. I think his chances are a lot better with the uptick in velocity on the fastball. Maybe he'll return as a starter at some point, but in the small sample size we saw, he looked very hittable. Boy, Gonsalves was once the #1 Twins pitching prospect for some people (around 2016/2017?). Injuries do make prospects hard to rate.
  19. Oh, I didn't even realize Jaylin Davis was in AAA! I need to start reading up on the scouting reports on this kid. I would be A-OK with trading some of our outfielder prospects for MLB players. We have a solid collection of center fielders to corner outfielders at the high minors and low minors. And our MLB squad already has 3 good OFs, so let's supplement our weaknesses by trading what we have in excess.
  20. Everything here looks pretty good, though Celestino's stats suggest to me that he is overmatched at the moment. I wonder if Raley would be in the majors right now if not for the ankle surgery.
  21. I didn't realize how good of a season Hendriks was having last year. Opening that game against the Yankees in the playoffs last year painted a negative picture in my mind, but he's a good reliever. I also don't see the A's moving him as they're 3 games above .500 at the moment and are likely to be in a race for the wild card.
  22. I'm still hoping for Alcala to be moved to the bullpen. I think that's where he's going to make his dough in the majors.
  23. Arraez is a passable 2B but is considered to be subpar at all other positions as well - Astudillo can catch and hit a lot of singles, which is something most backup catchers can't do. But thankfully Astudillo has options and we can afford to move him up and down. With the lineup cold right now, Baldelli needs to pencil Arraez into the lineup at an almost-everyday basis in my humble opinion. I wish he could play 3B better 'cause I'd certainly replace Sano with him for the time being.
  24. He's absolutely on the menu, but Twins Daily hasn't gotten around to getting an article out for him. They probably should do that soon.
  25. As long as his injury isn't bad, I would be looking very closely into getting Giles. I think he's far enough removed from the fiasco in Houston to be a concern.
