  1. It’s crazy, you can’t intentionally walk anybody because this lineup is so good top to bottom.
  2. I'd rather trade prospects at this point for a reliever who can help you now rather than pay Kimbrel too much and wait for him to sharpen up his stuff. There's just been too many examples of late-signing players underperforming consistently and we're also talking about signing over who's over 30 years old.
  3. Maybe this explains how a lot of our pitchers in the past few years put up gaudy stats in AAA but then stunk when they arrived to the majors.
  4. I don’t see why the rush with him. They don’t have to immediately call him up or anything. Some players need to be added earlier than others in their development process (Polanco is a great example) but there’s no need to rush things with your top prospects.
  5. *commence everyone demanding whichever minor league pitcher did well be immediately called up* Yeah, I guess Austin Adams would be the next guy up, but he's nothing exciting. Coming in to the season I was concerned about the AAA depth of this team, and it's coming to fruition. Though so far, Harper and Morin have been hits, so that helps things.
  6. A high-ankle sprain is usually a multi-week injury, perhaps 2-4 weeks, at least in football. It may be more difficult to come back as a catcher since he'll be squatting so much. This is why you don't trade Castro away 'cause now you'd be down to Astudillo and... Tomas Telis?
  7. It's nice to see Arraez at AAA - if he could get a couple months' worth of experience at AAA, perhaps he could pass up Torreyes as the next infielder up in case of injury. Boy, that's a lot of injured prospects. It stinks for Gordon because it seemed like he was finally starting to string something together at the plate.
  8. Oh, at first I thought this was a "first 40-50 games" thing, but now I see it's a full-season comparison for middle infielders. I don't think Polanco finishes in the top 5 as we have a long season ahead of us, but I do think he's a top 10 offensive option as a shortstop in the MLB, which is a terrific outcome for him.
  9. Well, it's nice that Thorpe finally had a good outing. He really needed that. Methinks Addison Reed is toast. I doubt he makes it in the MLB averaging 87-88 on his fastball. I'd DFA him once the rehab period is over, unless he looks much better over time.
  10. Whoa... with more performances like that, Smeltzer is going to be with the big league club sometime this summer. This dude's just flat-out dominating! I'm very concerned about Rooker - he's striking out waaay too much against AAA pitching that is giving up a lot more HRs now. His K rate was already shaky last year, but now I'd say we should be on red alert.
  11. C.J. Cron has been everything I've hoped for - finally, a 1B with a power bat, very good defense, and some big games with tons of hits. He's looking so much better than Morrison was last year. Schoop also looks like he's returned to his 2017 form, showing plenty of discipline at the plate. Even Marwin has started to look good. So far, everything's gone right for the offense!
  12. Wow, now that's a freshly rested bullpen! We're in great shape headed into tomorrow's doubleheader. We can survive a clunker by Stewart or another starter... and I can't remember the last time I've said that.
  13. I’m not sure this applies, as we have yet to see Falvine go through the trade deadline with a legit team. I think they will be willing to make moves, especially with many prospects becoming 40 man eligible this winter. Plus they should have some more payroll to spend.
  14. Wow. I'm stunned Perez has turned into this after such a poor 2018 campaign... my opinion on the Perez signing has aged as well as a ham sandwich.
  15. Whoa, Smeltzer just keeps dealing! I hope we can see some rookie starters make it to the big leagues and not fall apart when they do. I don't know if Smeltzer will be one of them, but who knows at this point.
  16. Is this a permanent promotion for Smeltzer? If so, then both of the prospects we got for Dozier are in AAA, so you can't say they aren't far off.
  17. If Perez could be a big success story for the Twins... that'd be huge for the rotation, and great for the organization - it'd be great if the Twins could start to be known as a team that can fix pitchers.
  18. Magill was awful in spring training (had an ERA of 9-10, somewhere in that range) and had peripherals in 2018 suggesting he was ripe for regression. I can't say I'm surprised if he doesn't look so good now. Romero and Magill were the AAA reinforcements, and there's really not much left there to call up. Jake Reed is certainly worth a call-up, but the FO seems firmly opposed to giving him a chance. Other than that, they should probably be scouring waivers and looking for a potential trade if you're looking to bolster the pen, because our minors don't have much that's going to help this squad anytime soon.
  19. Eh, it's one bad game, plus I think Alcala is going to end up in the bullpen in the majors. That's just my hunch.
  20. Yikes, AAA pitching has been dreadful so far. De Jong has truly bombed out. On the other side of things, I think Wade is almost ready for the majors, but things are a bit crowded up there. Both he and Cave deserve to be reserver OFs on major league squads, methinks.
  21. Poor Dozier, he's hitting just .183 with a paltry .632 OPS. He's always a slow starter, but I didn't suspect his career would take such a 180 degree turn into becoming this so quickly. I'd just keep giving Schoop starts and see how he goes for a full season. We have the money over future years to sign him to an extension, though I'd be wary if Polanco ends up as a long-term 2B.
  22. It’s been like this for years now, any pitcher we call up who wasn’t Rogers or Hildenberger is simply awful. Even though most of these guys aren’t Falvine prospects, it still feels like our pitching development is broken. I’m not convinced it’s a talent issue, as we’ve seen other teams poach our pitchers and end up with much better results.
  23. I'm not excited to see Lewis struggling out of the gate and Rooker striking out 2-3 times a game. I wonder if Moya will be a factor at some point. The Twins have been terrible at developing these fringe relievers over the past few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if he flames out just like the others.
  24. We've had some good (or bad?) timing with these "can they keep it up?" articles. Maybe we should stop for our pitchers' sakes!
