    Strotman and Ryan are pitching as polar opposites. Strotman looks like he needs to try AA again, and Ryan already looks like our best starter. The Kernels are hitting really well, even Sabato is hitting well against this competition. Is the pitching in A+ worse than A for some reason?

    I think the horrid fielding needs to be a talking point in the Lowlights… how did this team go from being one of the better defensive units last year to being a complete train wreck? I know 2020 was a SSS, but they added Simmons and moved Polanco to his natural position, yet the gaffs have been far more frequent.

    So they had SWR pitch again today, huh? I guess that explains why he only got three innings last time out. Good to see Steer with the big hit. His numbers have taken a hit since arriving at AA, but within an acceptable limit for the sizeable jump from A+ to AA. If he takes another step forward next year, he will be poised to do damage in the bigs. I would like to see a bat or two from AAA come up and get a chance... Miranda should be up here now, and I'd like to see Jimmy Kerrigan. He's raking as of late and has plus speed. If I'm not mistaken I believe he will be a free agent, so why not give him a shot?

    As far as I can tell he’s healthy now and he was healthy in 2020... I don’t see him suddenly turning back into what he was in 2018/19. He’s striking out about as much as Sano this year and has worse plate discipline... and that’s not to mention his frustrating fielding. There will be many superior 4th OF options out there, I see no reason to retain him.

    I love Arraez at the plate, but I am unsure about how good he is defensively. From just using the eye test he looks well below average at LF/3B, but I will have to check on the advanced stats to see if that is backed up.

    I would caution you from doing that... from my perspective that seems like an over-reactionary bet, since it would be no surprise to me if the Vikings at least covered just because we play better by default and Arizona regresses somewhat. But this is coming from someone who has sworn off gambling, so you do you. However, the Yankees-Twins matchups have transcended common sense. They've won something like 80% of their games against us in the past 20-25 years. Unless that is priced into the line, I'm willing to break my embargo.

    That's it... I might just bet on a sports game for the first time in 2022 and put money on the Yankees every single time they play the Twins. Either I will make a profit since the Twins are guaranteed to poop themselves every time they play New York, or I will break the Twins' horrible streak by losing money. A win-win, perhaps.

    Jorge Alcala has quietly been pitching very well since late July and in high leverage situations... ? Our pen certainly has internal options for 2022, but most seem suited to the middle innings.

      In a small sample size of September, the Twins' entire staff has the fourth best ERA in MLB. Things no longer look nearly as dire as they did a month or more ago.

    If you go by ranking the FA hitters by their hitting skill, Simmons is near the worst ever. But his strong defense should keep him away from the likes of Nishioka, who not only couldn't hit a lick but also had horrible fielding skills.

    You have it backwards, Rogers makes $6M this year and Duffey is at $2.2M. I don't think Cave has played enough to compile a low enough WAR/WPA (only 150 PAs). If he did play more I think he'd crack the list.

    Strotman has been really bad at AAA... I mean, we're talking a ERA of over 7.00. I think the only way he gets up is if they try him in the bullpen. Burrows isn't on the 40 man and is just a placeholder at this time, and they could opt to release him once the year is over. Seeing how much AAAA filler is on the MLB team, I don't see a problem with giving him starts at AAA. He's not blocking anyone, he could be moved to the pen or released in an instant.

    Hamilton can't be DFA'd since he's not on the 40 man. With the long list of non-MLB caliber pitchers they've called up from AAA, clearly they don't think Hamilton has what it takes. Perhaps they are concerned with Hamilton and Moran's BB rates, which are both high... but that didn't stop them from calling up Gibaut, did it? I am disappointed that the FO hasn't given Moran or Cano auditions this year, with so much room to spare in the bullpen. I wonder if they are planning to not give Moran a 40 man spot... I am starting to feel like we're going to let another Nick Anderson out of this organization, some way or somehow.

    Thielbar is likely going to be in the pen again, for better or for worse. If they weren’t planning on bringing him back they likely would have shipped him out at the trade deadline.

    I see Ryan, Miranda, and Moran on the team soon. Martin I do not see since he’s not R5 eligible and I think he’s not ready yet. No need to start his clock early.

    The contract's size and length was acceptable for Mauer's track record, but turned into a millstone once he sustained injuries and lost the ability to play catcher. As for Buxton... he already has an astronomical number of injuries and doesn't have anything close to the track record Mauer had at the plate (as a hitter). He's in his prime now and they'd be paying him in his 30s... I simply can't see an extension ending well for the Twins. It is a lose-lose situation for the Twins... if they extend him he likely won't be worth the money and Twins fans will moan like they did with Mauer. If they don't extend him, the fans will lament their inability to re-sign their homegrown talent.

    Having Simmons at SS is nice for the pitchers, but since he's unlikely to be back in 2022, why even bother? Miranda should be up in September and playing every day, no exceptions.

    Vallimont and Strotman are not getting it done as starters. Strotman needs more time and Vallimont is most likely a reliever. In my latest rankings I put Strotman in the 20s and Vallimont in the 40s, which so far seems justified.

    Agreed, Thorpe's stuff isn't what it used to be, and he does not possess the durability to last in a MLB pitching staff. He should not be retained on the 40 man over the winter.

    I think Enlow is a lock to be protected. Too much upside there. I don’t think Severino is worth protecting, I don’t think he gets claimed as a 2B with a decent minor league track record. Palacios is doing better at a higher level and can play SS, so I’d prefer him on the 40 man.

    He looks more like a 1B/DH type, but I could be wrong. I'd rather see him play in AAA and give Kerrigan (can handle CF) or Contreras (won a gold glove playing LF in the minors) a chance since they can hit and handle themselves defensively.

    Holy cow, 8 of 9 outs were Ks for Canterino. Wow. And no, don't sign me up for Andrew Albers. We have enough mediocre and old pitchers in our MLB club, and he's already had two stints with the Twins that went nowhere. There's no reason to try him out a third time.

    I did miss that, but I when I saw Palacios I thought you’d include Lewis. Anyways, I wouldn’t be surprised if we sign a SS on another one year deal and leave room for Lewis to take over full time in 2023.

    Royce Lewis should be on this list... I think they’re going to keep trying him at SS.
