  1. Rough night for Duran. Couldn’t locate any of his pitches.
  2. Just about to post that. Must be one of those mandatory nights off.
  3. Am I missing something? Why is Vasquez hitting with two catchers on the bench? So Buck runs for him but doesn’t pinch hit?
  4. Nope. I’m not his biggest fan but I feel bad for him. He’s really struggling - he probably needs to go back to St Paul to see if can gain some confidence.
  5. Yea Lee hasn’t been lighting it up but at least has a chance and can play a couple positions.
  6. I really didn’t miss the Julien at bats when he was in St Paul.
  7. Impromptu poll: not having Martin in the equation how much more does SWR have to do to make the Berrios trade a winner?
  8. Looking for the local and got the express
  9. Isn’t this the second or third time Vasquez has fallen down running the bases?
  10. I’m not arguing because I haven’t followed him closely. Didn’t he take this contract because he couldn’t get a long term deal last year? He has been hurt this year and a little up and down so I wouldn’t think things would change that much from a contract standpoint but I could easily be wrong as free agency can be funny. I’m still highly doubtful the Twins would take that chance. Which isn’t an endorsement on my part just my assessment of the payroll situation.
  11. Interesting. Do you say that because he will try to land a long term deal or he thinks he can get more than $30 million next year?
  12. He’s not gonna pass on the $30 million option next year right? I highly doubt the Twins will have an appetite for that.
  13. Here’s the thing. It seems the focus on Paddack relates to injury concerns which are true. My take is the guy isn’t that good. He is not the kind of starter that you wait around for because the production is worth the wait. Go get a starter and worry about Paddack later.
  14. I’m on the fence on this one. I think enough other teams are going to be interested that some team will give a decent prospect for him. Think Tanner Schobel level. I don’t like the walks and the injury history but if we get another injury to a starter it might mean missing the playoffs. And no I don’t think Varland or Festa are the answer now. So if I’m Falvey and I know I’m going after a better starter then I pass. If not I’m calling the Dodgers.
  15. People are focusing on SS too much. SS is really hard which is why there are so many failed SS. And we expect Castro to step in there flawlessly? If he could do that he would be a starter on another team. He is a utility guy and does a decent job at a bunch of positions. That is really valuable in that very few people can do it.
  16. I agree with this assessment. Players with poor throwing arms know it. It becomes a mental challenge when things get hurried. Like you I really liked Polanco but it was obvious he had a throwing issue. Martins arm is worse and he doesn’t have any of the other attributes Jorge brought to the table. I hope I’m wrong but he ain’t gonna make it.
  17. Great game from Pablo. Hat tip to Julien making a couple nice plays and getting a hit. As I have posted about a hundred times the Twins frequently play sloppy baseball. Sometimes it costs them and sometimes it doesn’t. Last night it cost them. I truly believe poor fundamentals have cost the Twins a half dozen games this year.
  18. I agree more than wholeheartedly. Baseball is really hard which is why I don’t get worked up when someone swings and misses on a nasty slider on the outside corner. That’s why botching easy plays is so detrimental and the Twins do it far too often. I think part of it is rooted in the notion of I can play anywhere which I think is complete BS except for a few players. Here is the list of Twins players that can effectively do it: Willi Castro. I hate sloppy baseball.
  19. Martin has a throwing problem. He has pretty much gagged anytime he has had to make an important throw.
